National Novel Writing Month
This November, the goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I did it last year, and I'm definitely going to do it this year. Anyone else want to write a novel in a month? ^_^

I'm going to try it this year. It is going to be a pain because I'm so busy all the time and I've only written one novel in my life.

It can get pretty crazy. But it's really so much fun. It helps cripple that inner-editor that causes so much frustration! It's actually surprisingly liberating when the whole goal of writing is quantity over quality. ^_^

I've never done that and I doubt I will enter this year either...

You should try it. It's pretty inspiring to be squeezed by a deadline until all your creative juices flow like fresh orange juice. xd Last year there was this one girl who wrote more than a million words. Of course she had her trusty laptop and just typed nonsense all month long, but still it was pretty impressive. I barely squeaked by with 50,075 words, but I've added another 10000 since November. Plus there's lots and LOTS of support with word-booster-ideas and write-or-die challenges.
It also gives you a glimpse of what it would be like to write novels for a living and having to churn out one every few months.

NaNoWriMo sounds really fun, but I just don't think I can do it. I'm horrible at keeping to deadlines and I can never finish anything because new ideas are always popping into my head sweatdrop

Ooh in November? 50,000 words in 30 days? I do like a challenge . . . I'd like to know more, though. Can you PM me with info?

I had a similar vice, but if you succeed, you have 50K words to play around with at the end of the month. You can write whatever you want, even if it's just a series of tale beginings. Plus, their forums are uber supportive for all your plot and character and caffine-jitter needs. ^_^ gReen DraGon ChiLd: www.nanowrimo.org ^Follow the link for all the info you need.

I've tried NaNoWriMo a couple times. But my inner editor is too darned strong and won't let me do the writing diarrhea necessary to make it happen. I tend to agonize over every word to begin with when I'm writing even a first draft.

I know, a friend of mine also said a similar thing but I just don't feel up to it. rolleyes
