Every day after school, I sneak into the band room (after play practice, so it's at 5.) and play the tuba that Matt started on. (AKA the baby tuba)
I can play it really well now (of course, I have a low brass mouth so it's not that hard), but my band director might not even know.
Have you ever done something like this?

wen my bd's in his office, i privatly "steal" my friend bri's clarinet and haha i can barely get a sound out but yet she expects me to learn notes lol. fun. i've only played it like 5 times, but my bd doesn't know and he gets pissed when we play someone else's instrument.

almost everybody has lol Thats how I got interested in flute, I learned on sombody else's (they still have no clue ive touched their instrument) like every few days and now i have my own flute. Gotta take a test drive before u buy one LOL.

I sneak Baritone and Euphonium we used to do it all last year till he let us start playing it now we sneak the Fluglebone there are all sorts of stuff in our cramped old Tuba room we even fixed up a valve Trombone which we play when we can. (Fluglebone is a mini marching baritone)

I'm not allowed to play while there's anyone home so I have to practice RIGHT when I get home.

Needless to say I've been able to sneak in some midnight practices.
AND.
I've sneaked in some practice on my sister's clarinet and drum pad. xD

i play my frinds piccolo sweatdrop
i kno where she hides it now blaugh
cuz she coaught me playin it once sweatdrop and ever since then she has hid it in her backpack
and i "steal" it at break and put it back by lunch time (and she still has no clue im still playin it shhhhhhhhhhhhh lol)

I used to steal my friend's flute (in all fairness, she got my clarinet in return...) and I can still play them! I even had someone at a regional course come up to me and ask if I played it xDD Good times, but I can't play the piccolo =[
Oh, and at band I steal my friend's cornet... he has no idea how to put a clarinet reed on, so really, it's a one-sided thing =D

my friend whose in lower band which is a different period, sneeks playing my horn sometimes!!! Its so annoying!!!!!!!!!!! And she plays horn too!!!!

i've never "stolen" an instrument before, but my friends have. one of my friends was spending the night at my house one time and my mom made me go downstairs to wash the dishes. my friend saw my flute in its case and decided to put it together and play it. of course, i didn't know until i was walking up the stairs and i heard this airy sound coming from my room... lawlz good times.
oh and then at the 30 hour famine my youth group participated in... this other band nerd, neto, took my flute and was playing it while i had to go with marissa to record something like "yeah, i participated and blah blah blah this happened i liked this blah blah" and when my youth group pastor played the video, you could clearly hear the flute in the background.
i wondered why i couldn't hear it while i was talking....

I sneak into the drum room and play the set we had for jazz band, only been doin it for a couple weeks and I can show up some of the Jazz players xp

I have never taken anybody else's instrument... That just seemed like way over the top to me, unless they gave me permission.
In my senior year before I got my bassoon my friend let me hold hers. (because I had never held one before. razz )
The band director likely would have yelled. He yelled at a girl in class (who was a senior at the time) after we were done with concerts and contests for holding somebody else's saxophone.
I was like "What?" There's no reason that she shouldn't be able to!
I brought my bassoon a few times. I played some duet pieces with my friend in one of the practice rooms, the director never saw us. Thank goodness. =P One of the former drum majors did, though. He seemed a little mad. =/

I've snuck in plenty of euphonium time xDDD
My BD gets sooooo pissed when we play other people's instruments....
I've gotten some trumpet playing in too ;]
...I want a trumpet xD

I wish! I've played other instruments to peoples' knowledge but I've never snuck in some personal time with one without permission.

I know at school whenever I feel sad, lonely or musical I'll sneak into the instrument room and pick up an instrument and just sit there. It's one of the only things that genuinly relaxes me =]
