Lexi: There's probably unoccupied caves. We might need to go into the mountains to find one, though. I wonder if there's anyone around who'd know better.
Yakir: There might be someone around. I'm sure there are namrah who live in the mountains. ^^
Lexi: Yeah. Now, how do we find one?...
Bahamut: *flies by overhead, lands on a nearby hill and settles down as he looks up at the sky*
Yakir: *sees Bahamut fly overhead* Maybe we can ask him? *points*
Lexi: Oh, good idea. *walks over to Bahamut* Excuse me, could we ask you something?
Bahamut: *looks down at Lexi politely* Certainly, go right ahead.
Lexi: Would you happen to know if there's any unoccupied caves around that a small family could live in?
Bahamut: *thinks* Hmm, I know of a variety of caves. Is there any particular location or features you would prefer?
Yakir: *thinks* I don't think I have any real preferences aside from being kind of close to the forest, or maybe a clearing of some sort... *looks at Lexi to see what she would prefer*
Lexi: *nods* That sounds good to me. Preferably something that doesn't require a lot of climbing to get to, since I'm not really able to do that right now.
Bahamaut: Oh? *notices her enlarged belly* Ah, I take it you are expecting. Congratulations, then. Just a moment while I scout around a bit, and I will see what I can find a suitable cave. *nods politely, then stands up and takes off*
Yakir: *smiles* We're going to get a home together. biggrin *excited about that, and will definitely thank Bahamut for his efforts when he comes back* So many changes so quickly. It's really exciting. ^^
Lexi: Yeah, and all of them good changes. *nuzzles Yakir*
Bahamut: *returns after a short time, landing in front of them* There are a few habitable caves relatively close to here. The closest is in the middle of a forest, is fairly shallow and has a very large mouth, it's likely to get rather wet in heavy rains. The next nearest one is fairly large and at the end of a small ravine and has a wide stream running through it. That may flood in heavy rains, but it has multiple chambers, and at least one or two of those should stay dry at all times. The third nearest one is a bit smaller than the last, with a few chambers of varying size, and the entrance is up a small hill so that it should not be at risk for flooding. But the hill is very rocky and might be difficult to climb, and it is a short distance away from the nearest substantial collection of trees. Do any of those interest you?
Yakir: *nuzzles back, and looks on as Bahamut flies down and lists off the choices* Thank you for your effort. *thinks it over* Hmmm...maybe the second one you mentioned? *looks at Lexi to see what she thinks*
Lexi: That one does sound pretty good. But we should look it over thoroughly before we move in to make sure it would be good. Like, make sure the stream isn't too dangerous for little kits, or that it's still easy to get around in if it did flood.
Bahamut: *nods* Very well. If you'd like I could lead you to the place.
Yakir: Yeah, we definitely should. *nods and looks at Bahamut* It would be great if you could lead us there. biggrin
Bahamut: *nods again* As you wish. Follow me, please. *starts off, leading the way* I believe I have been discourteous. My name is Bahamut; may I ask yours?
Lexi: *realizes she'd asked him a favor without introducing herself* Oh, sorry. I'm Lexi, and this is Yakir.
Yakir: *follows* Nice to meet you Bahamut.
Bahamut: *walks through the forest for a while, then comes to a stream and follows it upstream out of the forest. After a bit it lead to a small ravine that cuts through a rising hill. There's a strip of somewhat rocky land between the bank of the stream and the walls of the ravine on either side* Be careful here, the bank can be a little slippery. *since he's larger (than even a typical Elder), he walks straddling the stream, but there's enough space for Lexi and Yakir to walk on either side of the stream. After a bit the stream disappears into a rough hole in the end of the ravine. Bahamut has to duck his head slightly to avoid brushing against the dry remains of trailing plants hanging from just above the cave mouth. Steps aside just inside the cave* Here we are.
Lexi: *follows, blinking as she waits for her eyes to adjust to the dim light*
Yakir: *looks around at the cave from the entrance, the passageway leading extending before them, with a few branches forming out from the passageway leading into roundish caverns which could pass for rooms (a few...4 or 5 tops?). A couple of them seem to ascend on a gentle incline, one descending downwards a little (and would probably flood during heavy rain), and the others with no noticeable alteration*
Lexi: *peers around now that her eyes have adjusted, looking at the branching chambers. a trickling sound draws her eyes to a small tumble of water, too small and rocky to be called a waterfall, along the wall farthest from the entrance. The water falls into the stream, which winds its way across the floor of the cavern and out the entrance.* Oh, that looks pretty. *walks along the stream, looking into it and stepping in here and there to check the depth* There's a couple spots here that might be a little deep for a young kit, but otherwise I think that's alright. What do you think, Yakir?
Yakir: Yeah, it does. ^^ *checks out the stream and nods* Yes, definitely a couple spots that are too deep for a young kit, but otherwise it's fine. We'll just keep an eye on them and tell them not to go near the stream when we're not right there beside them. 3nodding
Lexi: Yup. *quickly pokes through the side chambers, noting that the couple sloping upwards should stay dry even if the stream overflowed, and that the lower chamber smells damp and moldy, as if it gets wet often. There's various debris and sharp rocks that would need clearing out, and a couple clefts in the rock that a determined kit could wriggle into which might need plugging. points all this out to Yakir* Aside from that, I think it looks good.
Bahamut: *watching all this, glad to see the young couple are putting careful thought into the selection of a home instead of rushing into whatever looks easy or pretty*
Yakir: Yeah. ^^ *will definitely start working on moving out those rocks and debris and clearing up this fixer-uper ASAP, and turns to Bahamut* Thanks again for finding this place for us. We appreciate it. 3nodding
Lexi: *turns to Bahamut* Yeah, thanks! This will work great once we clean it up a little!
Bahamut: You are quite welcome. I hope you enjoy it here. *leaves , flying off as soon as he's out of the ravine*
