Yes... I'm going there. In a guild riddled with Twilight haters, I'm gonna post a review. Don't worry, no spoilers.

I read all four Twilight books in four days and here is my rating! Please don't hate me...

Overall, this series gets high marks in my book! I can't wait to read it again. There were definitely parts that annoyed me. I wanted to yell at some of the characters... but the depth of mythology in the story was great. I like when authors look at more than one angle of any legend.

I would however like to point out that I am NOT in love with Edward... While I liked the character... I'm not an annoying Edward fangirl... stare My favorite characters were Jacob, Bella, Jasper, Seth, Alice, and Nessie.

Book One: Twilight

I really liked this book! I was immediately drawn into the story.
The author used great imagery and dialog to draw the reader into the story.
The characters were interesting and likable... well, most of them were.

Book Two: New Moon

This book gets three stars for pissing me off... a lot!
I liked the fact that they brought new characters and mythology to life,
but the mopiness of the main character was annoying.

The ending of this book was good though. It made up for the annoyingness of the rest.

This book was... O_O Wow... I loved the fight scenes in it and was constantly on edge,
wondering what would happen next. I was sad when this book ended.

Book Four: Breaking Dawn

I didn't like that this book switched character views, but it was still a good book.
There were several times I thought the book would end, but it didn't!
I was sad to see it end the way it did, I just wanted the story to continue!

Okay, here's my take. I went through the books to make an honest, well-informed decision.

Twilight: Slow and very little development. I feel it could have been combined with a supplemental story for a little more heft. It was surprisingly short. 2/5

New Moon: My fave out of the set. Plenty of character development, questions are answered, and if you try to guess what's happening behind the scenes, then you won't notice the whining at all.

Eclipse: No...just no. SLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW read. The writing was sloppy and it didn't seems to follow any of the 3-4 act formulas. It seemed more like free-writing than something that was planned.

Breaking Dawn: I really don't know what to think. I might have to redo this book. First impression is the first "Book-within-a-book" was informative but...not too interesting, the second "Book-within-a-book" was more interesting, a lot more thought out, and was probably my favorite act out of any other in the saga. You could tell that the author had to consider what she wrote here as it's from someone new's perspective, also it was a breath of fresh air not to hear "Oh, Edward, I don't deserve you. You're wonderful and I'm just sooooooooo worthless and ugly". The third "Book-within-a-book" once again went to the free-writing style from Bella's perspective where there's a small funny bit, LOTS of nothing, and then a bunch of action and character development shoved down your throat in the last few chapters.

Overall: This series could have been brilliant if it were written by somebody else. I think it easy to imagine how you would have written a story differently than the original author, so I can still get a little enjoyment from these books, but I honestly believe Stephanie Meyer should just hire a Ghost Writer to do the work for her. She should never be allowed to write another letter until she learns the basics of story-telling. But still, it's not too bad, I have read worse books, and the stories shouldn't be held at gun point just because of the author OR the Twi-Tards.
