Tonight was utter perfection. There was absolutely nothing that could go wrong.
The green paradise, in which two lions were currently occupying, was a flourishing landscape with big palms and soft ferns. A darkened rainbow of flowers scattered across the domain, accentuating the wide meadow with bits of color. Faint sounds of churning water could be heard from the stream beyond the thick trees that encircled this hidden place. The full moon above bathed the field in gleaming light, not too bright but enough to set a wondrous mood. The fireflies hovered amongst the foliage with glowing rear ends.
They had chanced upon this place earlier that day. The blue lioness had fallen completely in love with the setting, requesting that the two stay there for the night. Upon agreement from Akira, she proceeded to explore the terrain, reverting back to her cub life for a few hours. Even as night drew closer, she felt normal; the need to hide from darkness had disappeared within her.
Subira curled up against her male companion that evening, completely calm and content. She wasn't scared, for Akira was there beside her. The feline played with the blades of grass and exhaled happily, resting her head on her paws.
"Akira?" she whispered affectionately. The sound of his name, his voice was like music to her ears.
He was her one and only and as cliche as it sounded, she felt as though nothing could come between them.

Akira was rather content with how things were for him. His sister was happy, his heart ached when he thought of her, Suijin was no where to be seen and he had found a comfortable relationship with the lioness Subira. Things had started out interesting between them, him having difficulty even speaking to her before gradually smoothing into something that could be considered a mateship.
He liked the gray blue female and she had made things so much easier for him. No longer did he cower when it came to women; he had never been a ladies man, only the sidekick. She made him feel calm and relaxed from simply being around her and he liked it, a lot.
Even now as she was nestled against him he was content.
For once in his life everything was going smoothly and he could help but wonder how long it would really last.
He was snapped from his thoughts by the call of his name. Sleepily opening a yawn he mumbled, "Mmmmm...Yes Subira?"

"I'm getting rather hungry. Aren't you?" She chuckled, raising her head to look at her companion.
It was already dark and yet neither of them had hunted. Of course, neither of them were actually inclined to hunt at the moment. Besides, it would be nice to go together - two heads were better than one. Surely Akira wouldn't object. Then again, it'd be nice to spend some time alone here. There was no possible way for anyone to find this spot at night. Subira suspected there wouldn't be any danger. Lately, her appetite had grown for no reason whatsoever and more than anything her relentless hunger was eating away at the back of her mind. Not even the darkness was hindering her ache for food.
"I know I'm ruining the moment, but could you maybe..." she trailed off, hoping he would get the point. >>;; SORRY. It was the only way I knew how to have Akira away while Suijin entered.

Akira hadn't thought about eating the entire day until she mentioned that she was hungry. He lifted his head and studied her with his deep purple colored eyes. "A little I suppose," he replied with a shrug. He didn't really feel the tug of hunger, he had eaten well a day or two ago but if she was hungry, well he wasn't opposed to hunting. He wanted to keep her happy after all.
He pushed himself back, well as best he could really, before pushing himself up and stretching his limbs. Another yawned rolled off his tongue as he spoke, "Shall I do a little hunting then?" He inquired keeping his gaze on the woman he had come to love.
He chuckled at her question and shook his head, "Hardly love. No worries, I'll go fetch us something." He told her stretching once more before turning his head and trotting off in search of food.
--
Suijin had spent the last week or so watching his former best friend, observing the new life the blue lion had managed to create for himself. He smiled bitterly at the sickeningly sweet scene as it played out before him shaking his head in disgust the entire time.
"Never knew you could be so love sick Akira," he grumbled his gaze trained on the male before he disappeared in the darkness. Slowly he turned his attention to the female still laying on her side.
Subira, as he had heard her been called, was a pretty one. A gray blue and purple eyes. His mother would have approved of her. Ah well, it wasn't to say he still couldn't have her.
At one point Akira had been his best friend, his only friend really and he would have never considered stealing his woman but no. After that pretty little fight of there's he would be all too happy to do so.
So he ventured out of the shadows looking lost. "Excuse me miss could you help me?"

The female watched her partner leave, a slight smile never leaving her face. She was in a dazed state at the moment and she was sure it was to last for a little while. Once Akira blended into the darkness and out of her sight, the lioness returned to her lounging position, resting peacefully almost into a state of sleep.
~
Excuse me miss, could you help me?
Subira's fur bristled as she heard the stranger's voice. How had he escaped her hearing? Her head jerked in his direction, ears alert and purple eyes piercing the intruder. How had he even found this place? All of a sudden, she felt that the place was no longer safe and although the darkness, luckily, no longer affected her, Subira couldn't help but begin to feel panicky.
She stared at the approaching male with narrowed eyes. From a distance, he looked similar to Akira in build. He seemed peaceful enough a lion with his gray eyes and rather confused expression. Subira relaxed her muscles a bit, swishing her tail back and forth.
"Umm, yes of course," she rose from her position on the ground, standing on all fours to full height. The male was still larger. At least she didn't look defenseless.
