As I was fiddling with an outfit on one of my avatars, trying to make it garment-friendly if I could, it came to me that prom season will soon be upon us.
Seeing as it's so hard to find evening wear that also meets LDS standards, I thought we could have a little fun, share ideas and support each other by having a Gaia fashion show! I suggest using Tektek because they allow layering that Gaia doesn't. (I just discovered this when the shirt I bought wouldn't go under the dress. D'oh.)
What do you all think? smile

Sounds good to me. On a non-virtual note, our Young Women had a modest prom fashion show for mutual the Wednesday before prom. It was great! Prom was great too . . . .

ahh ,prom oh how its in the past now....*sighs* such memories.....lo. anyway. When are your proms, some have then in april and some in may. Anyway, that would be a fun idea, do they have to realistic in a sence as in you will never be able to pull it of or afford it but can be done some way in the real world or just go crazy kinda thing!?

Maybe have two sections, one for realistic and one for "let's just go crazy?"
My prom was long, long ago. My dress was lovely, though I kinda shudder at the thought of it now. It was just... too sweet. Pink satin with a small white pattern, kinda like baby's breath. It's one of those things where it's so much not to my taste now, I'm surprised that it was then.
Something else we should consider - are we going to allow sleeveless/strapless? They're not necessarily immodest. No one who hasn't take out their endowments is required to wear garment-friendly clothes. Obviously, really short, sheer or low cut are immodest but I don't think the baring of arms is considered that verbotten. Anyone have a copy of "For the Strength of Youth" or something else that might clarify?

That sounds like fun, when would we do it...dates are pretty important. What if we could enter in our real dresses too. (only if we wanted of course)

Here's one... a little too over-the-top but great if you could convince your ward leaders to let you have a costume ball. (I tried... I tried so hard... it would have been so awesome...!)

Here is this one. it's like an cinderella dress with a cape. its more of a ball dress with the sleeves and all but i liked it im going to make a more realistic dress to but this is like a dream dress I guess you can say.
