I'm a little
confused by this item. The fact that it's clockwork, combined with the old-school circus poster theme of the art makes me think it will be steampunk, or at least seriously retro...
But... It's clearly a
Daruma. What is this, some kinda east-meets-west item?
According to the evolving item reports description and the look of it and what you've said, I'd have to agree...Steampunk indeed....And I want one. >.> That hat is cool and the doll itself is really creepy but still VERY awesome......
As to the daruma linkage.....Looks like this persons wish didn't come true.......and in the report it says that Dream Rust has a "Sad tale to tell"......methinks someone wished to keep a loved one alive[something happened at a carnival showing] (since it didn't mention any hate) and that it didn't come true.... but this is deffinately a strange one. Traditional Daruma don't have legs or claws for that matter.... I see aquatic themes being employed in to this as well......
