I figured since I haven't had time to draw so much lately, I'd start a little thread seperate from the rest where we all can discuss pretty much anything, art related or not. Plus.. there's one thing I always feel the need to b***h about every month... and here it is.. So basicly I just want to say.. Monthly collectables SUCK! Seems like the guys in Gaia's MC department have just given up completely.. Evolving Items have pretty much taken up all the creativity. It's a shame, it's a damn shame. There's nothing impressive about them anymore and they've all become rubbish lately. I mean come on! Techno-Mage? what is this garbage? "but the rave scene is so popular.." eff that! I'm sorry if any of you are ravers.. but that is just retarded. (I have a permanent bias due to an ex gf who...thinks she's a raver... and had never been to one.) (and the whole bead thing.. freaking retarded) (for the sake of being redundant and using more ( ), I have another friend that is way into raves, on every kind of drug imaginable, and looks like some mutation between fabio and ozzy.. only scrawnier. Watching him get suspended by a bunch of hooks in his back and then swung around in circles by a pole.. yeaaah... what the hell) So Techno-Mage... maybe I should drop some special K and I'd understand this crap. The nymph.. I get.. nymphs are right out of mythology....but both together? Who the hell thought that would be a great pair? I guess if the forest gets invaded by ravers wearing retarded goggles it'd all make sense (really..what is with the goggles?) Anyway, I gotta shower and get off to work. So please share your thoughts smile

I agree with you. I don't see how the Techno Mage is techno anything...., but it's just me.
I like raves, then again, I like about any kind of club. And I dress up to all of them. Though I don't wear beads.... I could I guess...? but then I'd be following the crowd and doing what everyone else is doing....
Uhhhhmmmm..... no.
Here's another one for you. When are they actually going to "fix" the guilds. Those buttons they added are confusing. You used to be able to click on the image of your guild banner and go there. Now you can't.
And we're still using the same ol' forum style for posts... You can't mass invite people you find. And the whole mod side of the guilds were exactly the same. So again, what was fixed?

Yeah seriously, so far I've noticed that the buttons are shiney.. or more 3d looking. But! alas, they still haven't fixed the whole problem about the sub forums and NOT TELLING YOU WHICH ONES HAVE NEW POSTS! Wasn't that like ..the number 1 thing TO fix in this whole fiasco? Makes me wonder where all the money they're getting for their crap items are going. (never buy! used the marketplace and haggle like a jew if need be)
Ok so get this... we now have this whole alarm thing going on at the store I work at. Night crew (meaning me) has to arm the alarms at night now.. because a store in an entirely different city was robbed... yeah ok. First off.. the store I work at is in the ritzy a** Tucson Foothills, in a very ritzy a** mall which houses such storefronts such as: Crate and Barrel, BOSE, Apple Store, Victoria Secret, Tiffany and Co. and Louise Vitton. So.. being the criminal mastermind that I am.. or wish I was.. it would make no sense to me to rob a grocery store which has anywhere from 2-4 people in it all night.. which doesn't have that much dinero in the store at all.. when you can steal a couple hundred thousand dollars in diamonds, purses, computers, lingerie (you know you would, don't lie), and whatever else expensive crap you can get up there. So.. on the other hand... I've already found leaks in our whole.. alarm thing. We're totally secure. Except for the doors that don't have electronic sensors, and the one that the motion sensor is blind to. Yeah. We can arm that alarm and go in and out all night at our leisure. There's no camera right there either. So... really what's the point? As for the motions... we can bypass the two inside ones so we can work.. but there's two which we can't bypass so every night I set the alarm off, call the alarm company and disarm the system cause I am not going to keep setting the alarms off for the next 4 hours.. so screw that, it's off. So.. yeah. Our security is great huh? Keep in mind, all the thefts in that store occur during the day, when there are anywhere from 2-5 store managers there...at the registers, near the exits. It happens all day, every day, during business hours. Simple solution: Post sentry's by the exits who's sole purpose in life is to ask to see a receipt. Also, we have what's known as a Code 10, which means all departments, take your trash to the back room and out to the dumpsters. They no longer can call a code 10 after 6, because for the rest of the night the closing manager needs to be at the registers (to cut down on theft). Because that manager is up front, that means pushing out the trash is a safety issue, and someone could steal stuff while taking crap to the dumpster.
So why is it somehow safer for them to leave me with a crapload of carts full of trashbags.. and I have to push them outside..in the dark, by myself.. And wouldn't it be much easier for me..all by my lonesome.. to stash some stuff in the carts and take it out.. then swing my car around on break? I'm the only one there most nights aside from the bakers... no witnesses, and I know the angles of the cameras and what cameras actually work... and as far as safety goes.. there's no working lights out that back dock aside from the street lamps which are too far away to really do me any good. ANYONE could be lurking out there.
Gotta love when someone in a cubicle decides to run an entire chain of stores based on numbers on a screen.

As far as restaurants here in Tucson go, Risky Business is one of the best places in town. Their sandwiches and burgers are really tasty, their jambalaya and angry calamari are fantastic, and I was deeply impressed with their seared sesame ahi, as well as their carribean fish tacos. Sad to see how slow it's been in there these days. That place is usually hoppin due to the great food and really great drink specials (had a $3 margarita tonight actually. Very nice.) It sucks to see quality, and affordable, local eateries getting hit hard due to the economy. Even worse to see places like Sakura's, Ra, North, and Bluepoint still getting crowds. they may be good.. (minus north.. their food is ..crappy at best) but they're WAY overpriced, and mostly target the wealthy stuck up snobs that inhabit the lovely Tucson Foothills. Shame to see that people who love to look like they have good taste, turn their noses up at places like Oishi Sushi. I have never had better sushi than when I go to that little ghetto sushi shop with the creepy red kidnapper/rape van that says SUSHI BULGOKI in big block letters made out of white tape on the side. And the price is great too, 35 bucks for two people, all you can eat. They're tempura rolls are gigantic. I would recommend not trying to tackle 6 rolls in one sitting.. I thought I was going to die that night. Live and learn eh? Time and time again, it's been proven that the best places to eat in town are the ones that are not well known, off the beaten path, and don't look like much. The food speaks for itself.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, as well as what your favorite haunts are in your own towns. Hopefully one day when my dream restaurant becomes a reality, you all can make the trip.

I think for Techno Mage they may be working off of the Steam Punk thing. I'm sure they get lots of requests from Gaians themselves who want these things made. Creativity may not even come into it all the time. Another thing that comes to mind is Role Playing there is everything under the sun. I know I've played D&D, Mage the Ascension, and Vampire the Gathering.
There are other RPG's too like Cyberpunk and Rifts. Then again like you said the rave scene or Anime. I'm sure Anime has everything under the sun when it comes to outfits robotic or otherwise. The site seems to have a huge Asian influence, actually art in general does with Japonisme.

So.. as I've previously stated a few times before in other places throughout our threads.. I'm on a diet/exercise kick. And before I go on, I just want to add that exercise is not spelled the way it freaking sounds! Whoever came up with that nonsense needs to run a mile with a dumbbell in their a**.
Anyway, so I took a look at all the things I've been cooking and eating for hmm.. the past.. three years and longer and realized.. however good it may be, it's really crap, and I should just take all that rubbish and toss it out and do the exact opposite.
So... I nixed red meat and pork, pasta, bread, pb and J (farewell my beloved raspberry jelly..I'll never forget you..), and pretty much all the really rich delicious food I love. Substituted for... salad. Cereal. Fruit. fish. Chicken.
What a variety huh? Also started the whole calorie counting nonsense which...works! for some reason. It's just annoying to have to ponder how much invisible magic thingies are in whatever it is, and how much you can have before you top out at 2000 magical calorie invisifat gaining things. whatever they are.
This isn't too difficult when you're a normal person. You wake up in the morning.. go to sleep all night.. easy to pace yourself.
My schedule is super screwed up, which means the 2000 calories a day is a little harder to figure out since my days start around 5:30 pm and I don't go to bed until sometime after 1 pm the next day. So I'm going to assume the 2000 calories is meant to be within a 12 hour period or so.. right? breakfast at 6.. lunch.. dinner.. sleep...
So that would mean my almost 24 hour day.. I should be somewhere between 2000 and 4000? does that sound right or is my logic a little flawed?
Either way, I've got a pretty good pace going, and luckily for me, both my jobs require me to walk around aimlessly so I'm burning more calories on top of my exercise.
So for that, since between jobs I have a tough time staying awake, I decided to start jogging or running every morning.
so for 6 days a week i do a half hour jog, and I do a little over two miles. (I'm on a treadmill btw, boring, tedious, but there's way too much traffic up the road for my tastes.) On day 7, which will be tomorrow morning, being monday I have to go to work uber early so I just do one mile, and I go as fast as I can in order to see if I've improved throughout the week.
So far.. yes I have. And I'm pretty stoked about it.
First time running was 11:30. Second was 10:15, and the third was 9:19.
Keep in mind I'm a smoker.. and I started this adventure weighing in at 205.5. Not too shabby I'd say. eh?
What comes next.. weights. I got a friend who's going to sell me his set, which is pretty awesome, and then all I'll need is a bench and a bar and I'm set for a little while.
What does this have to do with art? Absolutely nothing, except for the fact that the whole time I'm running on the treadmill I'm staring at a hand drawn picture of Homer Simpson on a beach dancing with a bunch of giant ice cream cones and lollipops with "Sugar do do do do do do" written on it... actually hold on.. I'm gonna go take a pic of it for you guys.
I don't know who drew it but.. yeah. I wish I was on a beach with giant sweets..

Another Monthly disappointment. I think the designers should study up on some mythology and ancient cultures or something and get some actual GOOD ideas for the MC's...

MCs and EIs haven't been so good lately...
sometimes they just take the same picture and differentiate only the colors...
i mean, how is mercury and hermes moon any different? how's tomo and tama's basket differ? they just simply put different color onto it and make it a different items, yeah and I also agree that they might have lose their sense of creativity, because I hate the MCs nowadays, it's so much better back when it was 2006 -_-
I think gaia is at the edge of something and they need money fast, don't you think? why else new EIs are popping out so quickly?(not to mention the bad quality which indicates the rushing) -_-''

So.. anyone else noticed the quality of gaia artwork steadily going into decline? What used to be nice anime lookin pics, great quality.. now we have crudely drawn pictures that look like a child using ms Paint. Way to take a step backward gaia... The Gee Boi (also a retarded item) had a horrible little picture of.. something holding a crappy looking game boy. Now on the home page is a little picture for the Nartian rock.. with a big blue.. thing.. looks like a 5 year old's rendition of Beast from X-men. Crappy.

I totally agree about the MC's, what the hell was with May's? I was so disappointed when I saw them... And I was really excited by Famiers (sp?) but now that I see the final evolution, I'm once again thinking that they slopped it together just to get it done... Okay, the flaming turtle is adorable, but what does that have to do with armor or being a warrior?
Sadly, there's a ton of EI's I want one or two things from.... only one or two things. Not enough to justify the purchase, because I need real clothes and things also. But.... ugh...
And when will the freakin' guilds be updated? The facade they put on them isn't right at all!!! You can do more with your PM's and regular forums than you can with a guild forum... If you want to change the font color in a post more than once, it's a bloody freakin' nightmare... And I had a few moments, so I tried going into the games yesterday-- the only things that work are zOMG, Pinball (which I'm glad-- I love it) and Jigsaw.
Word Bump has a synch problem, fishing doesn't register my 200-something baits, and Rally lags so bad that I had to drop out of a race yesterday....
Gaia's been on the verge of bankruptcy for years because of bad business decisions. (Sorry to Lanzer, but he knows it's true.) So they've been slowly selling their souls to recover it.... sadly, at the expense of such a great and wonderful site.
