Imordana made her way down the stairs from Dra'nahfiel's private rooms only a stone's throw away from the Magicking School in Undrek'Thoz. Despite what she had told him, she wasn't going to go see that her brother Gir'bran'ur was disciplined properly. She was actually off to meet up with a thief that she had hired to help her obtain the last item off of her list.

The item in question was quite valuable, and very hard to come by. Otherwise Imordana would never have resorted to stealing it from a sorcerer. If there had been anyway to obtain it in a respectable way she would have done so. As it was, the orb that would finalize the counter spell against the bonding spell her Matron placed on her, was one only few magicians had on hand. Dra had been quite helpful in that area..having not only told her which magicians in the Magic School owned one but the one sorcerer who was not likely to miss it. Not to mention having shoddy protection spells on his Studies at the school.

She didn't particularly feel that the thief that she had managed to scrounge up was the best, but he was the fastest. And he had already pointedly told her that he would divert all attention to himself, should they get caught. Imordana had found it rather odd, but she had heard that the thief, one Phraktos iv'Ress actually found the adrenaline rush that came from being chased a welcomed experience.

She finally stopped walking and glanced around the area where the thief had spoken of meeting. In a few moments she caught sight of the drawn key on the side of a small shack a few feet away from her. She made her way over, being careful not to step in the sludge and waste littering the back street. She wrinkled her nose as the smell hit her senses..it was horrid. Of all the places he wanted to meet here? Imordana shuddered, pulling her dress up to avoid getting sewage on it, and stepped inside the shack.

Inside, there were two crates sitting around a small barrel which held a small candle which flickered as her movement caused a rift in the still dank air in the shack. Sighing, she took a seat and looked around the forlorn space. It looked as though the thief was running a little late, or was she early? It didn't matter all that much, Imordana just wanted to get the job started so it would finish sooner. She settled down and tried to wait patiently, all the while drumming her long fingernails on the barrel.

Phraktos kept his face neutral...although inside he was steaming with frustration as well as anger. He was back in Undrek'thoz and was now standing as erect as he could under the watchful ever malicious gaze of the Matron of his old House. He was going to be late to his meeting with a rather interesting female who had hired him to do a job with her. But for now he had to keep his eyes focused on the Matron as she spoke in that high pitched nasally tone of hers.

Every time he heard her he would wince. Of course she probably didn't even realize that it was her that annoyed him..but that he had been bitten by a bug or something. Thankfully the Matron was not as attuned with the Spider Queen as she claimed to be. Otherwise..she would have punished him for the glee filled evil thoughts he was having about her.

Iztheri, his elder sister, the sole female heir to the House iv'Ress stood at the side of the Matron, her features blank of any emotion as the Matron finally stopped speaking. Phraktos about sighed in relief until he caught the contemptuous glare the Matron was shooting at him under the ornately gilded crown she wore. He immediately dropped to one knee, murmuring the customary greeting all the while wishing he could just take out the Matron with one of his concealed daggers.

"Well? Where are the items you were supposed to procure for me?" The Matron thundered, her nasally voice going dangerously low in her chest.

Phraktos blinked slightly, a confused look coming over his face. "OH..that was what you wanted. Sorry." Then he reached into several of his pouches bringing out the items the Matron had requested he filch for her.

Her dark red eyes blazed in a dangerous manner as they rested on the magical items he held out to her. Then she motioned for Iztheri to collect them for her. Iztheri moved forward slightly, her long gauzy dress floating around her gently and bent over to take the items from Phraktos.

"Be patient Tos, in time things will change." Iztheri whispered into his ear before she stood up and made her way back to the Matron placing the items into her lap.

Phraktos concealed the excitement and fervor that raged through him at her words. He didn't like holding off on taking out the Matron but he would obey Iztheri to the letter. After all...he did owe his life to her. Phraktos remained kneeling in front of the Matron until she flicked a hand at him finally giving him the go ahead to go about his own business.

Phraktos stood, and bowed his head to the two females before he slowly slide out of the courtroom. Once he passed the sixteen foot high golden bejeweled double doors he increased his pace and practically ran as fast as he could out of the Great House of iv'Ress. Once he was out in the courtyard did he finally get into a better mood. He hated how the building that he had grown up in brought back so many bad memories for him. Which was why he was glad that he wouldn't be staying there for the duration of his stay in Undrek' Thoz.

He headed off towards the agreed meeting place hoping that the eyeless female wasn't too pissed off at him. He had been rather looking forward to stepping foot inside of a sorcerer's home and getting the chance to aid the female in getting the magical item she wanted. He hadn't really minded that she wasn't really able to pay him, he was more so looking forward in rigging a booby trap in the magician's home. That and..perhaps getting on the good side of the female. Hopefully she would succeed in her attempt to take over as the Matron of her House. Because once she did that, it was possible that she would in turn help out him and Iztheri when they attempted to overthrow their Matron. One could never have enough allies.

Imordana sat drumming her fingers randomly. After awhile she stopped, and sighed. She really did not do well when she had to wait...she could feel her ire rise at the audacity of the male to make her wait on him. She growled, and turned in her seat thrusting her chin in the air, her arms crossing in contempt and huffed. Why hadn't she found a female thief to work with? Or at least one that was religious about set times for meetings.

Really! The nerve of this fellow was enough to get her blood boiling.
She tried to ease the seething that was rising knowing that it wasn't going to do her any good to get mad with the fellow she would be relying on for the next hour or two.
Just thinking of the time got her to wondering what Dra would find to do with Gir for that long. She couldn't help but feel apologetic for springing the "watching" job on him. It had been pretty much last minute and a sort of spur of the moment request. At least he hadn't turned her down. That was a relief in itself.

Imordana hadn't wanted to leave Gir unwatched at her House or have to take him on the job she was about to do. That would only be asking too much. Since..technically Gir was banned from the magical school and if he ever stepped foot back in the place some sort of magical alarm would have gone off. After Gir had confided his secret with her she had been wary of even bringing Gir within fifty yards of the place. Thankfully..Dra's wards on his apartment would keep Gir from being discovered so close to the school's grounds.

Imordana's thoughts were brought back abruptly when she heard footsteps outside of the small shack. She immediately straightened up, brushed her flyaway hair down with her fingers and tried to appear less disapproving. It wouldn't do to start the job out on the wrong foot or for that matter in the wrong mind set.

Phraktos bobbed and weaved through the backstreets at high speed, cursing under his breath.
He hated being late. He hated..no despised it when people made him late for meetings. It only made him angrier that it had been the Matron of his house that had done so to him.

At least he didn't have far to go..though now the job would have to be sped up even more than than his employer had wanted to. That rather irked him. He hated having to work jobs more quickly than he was comfortable with. Especially when it was a place he had never gone into before.

Well..that wasn't exactly true. He had gone into the Magic School in Undrek'Thoz before to retrieve a few items that had been stolen from his sister Iztheri. However..he had the time back then to watch and make up a set plan to get in and out without having someone catch him. Though he trusted the female had figured a plan out for the job they were going to do..he had no clue if it was as carefully plotted as he liked his jobs to be.
He was always careful to plan for every situation that might happen...though if it did go awry in a way he hadn't fathomed he wasn't so set in his ways that he couldn't think on his toes. Those were actually the most amusing escapades he'd ever had.

He grinned happily at the thought as he rounded the last corner and slowed his pace as he neared the run down shack that he had described to the female. He paused at the door, racking his brain trying to remember if he had spoken of a secret knock or password so that she would know it was him. He finally rolled his eyes, sighed and slid the door open and slid inside the shack, remembering that she hadn't wanted to mess around with passwords or secret knocks but had wanted to get straight to the particulars of the job as quickly as possible.

Imordana glowered at the brightly bedecked male when he finally entered the shack.
"It's nice of you to finally show up. iv'Ress." Imordana said her mouth crinkled in disapproval at his lateness. "I suppose I should start by filling you in on all the details of the job, please...have a seat."
She motioned to the empty crate across from her with a flick of her wrist, and waited patiently as he folded his large frame in half and sat down. He was..quite a large one. Well over 6 foot, and very muscular. Imordana tried to keep her thoughts off of his physique and on the agenda that she had safely stored away in memory.

"As you know, the place that we will be breaking into is part of the Magical School.
It's sufficient to say that the room will be booby trapped against intruders, I however have been given spells that will help to deflect said booby traps. Once the booby traps are deflected, I will have need of your, lock-picking expertise. Once we are in the room..There will undoubtedly be yet more booby traps that I need to spring before we go ahead with the job. You will need to allow me to go in first to deal with them. Once that is taken care of, the both of us will need to search for the magical item I have need of. Since this is a Sorcerer's study, there will definitely be booby traps on all of his trunks as well. This is where I may need your help. It has come to my attention that you possess enchanted gauntlets." Here Imordana waved in the direction of Phraktos' gold bejeweled gauntlets eying them rather hungrily. "Your gauntlets will help in finding the trunk that holds the item I am wanting. It will undoubtedly be the one that is the most protected against thieves." Here she paused and took a deep breath before she went on.

"After that we will have to abscond with the trunk to my mage friend who will be able to break it open for me. You may gather other items from the room as well, though I figure the trunk won't be little and it will take most of your strength to carry it. I will however be up to carrying any small items that you wish to leave with on my person. I have already sent half of the payment you asked for to your home in Guallidurth. I will give you the rest of it tonight after the job is completed..or should anything happen to either of us, I have made arrangements for a hefty sum to be paid to your sister...should we not succeed in our job. Does this arrangement agree with you?"

Phraktos gulped at her accusing glare, and bowed in deference to her.
"I apologize Lady Imordana, I was unfortunately waylaid by my Mistress for a rather winded sermon. I got here as fast as I could."

Then he took a seat, and waited as patiently as he could, despite how his nerves were firing with the excitement running through him. He was actually going to get the opportunity to peruse through a sorcerer's belongings without any dire circumstances happening to him! Well..if all went well that was. He hoped that the female had spells that would be able to get them into the room unscathed and out in once piece. He really did not want anything to keep him from whisking Sol out of the city in the morning...or the future he foresaw with his feisty little hot lips Izzayne.

He stopped musing when Imordana started speaking, and leaned in to listen to her explanation. He wasn't about to miss something that was vital to the job. Once she started speaking he was glad he was paying attention..it seemed that the room in question was booby trapped up to the ceiling. There must be something there worth a lot of money or very powerful to go to all that trouble.

When she spoke about his gauntletts he frowned slightly and looked down at them. Were they really that powerful? And that intrigueing? Hmm..he'd have to ask Iztheri about how she had come to getting them. He had assumed that his older sister had made them herself. For as long as he could remember she wasn't that powerful in the magic field. Maybe there was something there that she had been lying about. He couldn't imagine that she would have lied to him though.

When Imordana had concluded her speech, Phraktos ran his left hand through is hair and sighed, thinking over everything that she had said for a few moments before he stood to his feet.

"Well what are we waiting around for? Let's get this job done. I appreciate that you've sent half the payment, I just hope all goes as planned and I am able to enjoy it later on." he said with a bright smile and offered her his hands to help her to her feet.

Imordana was rather surprised at Phraktos' complete and utter disregard for the danger they would be in. Then again, he was a thief, so his life had probably been spent at least 80% of the time in danger, so he was probably used to it by now. She grinned up at him, took his offered hands and stood up wavering slightly on the uneven ground.

"You don't happen to know a more secretive way on gaining access to the inside of the Magic School? I pretty much just know the major routes into the place. I believe it would be smart if we avoided getting stopped or questioned by guards." Imordana spoke, a slight frown fluttering over her features.

*for my sake I am going to write the following job in a narrative and not first person for each of them, it will make things go much easier for me*
Phraktos grinned at Imordana with a cheeky devilish smile across his face.
"Why of course I do Lady Imordana. If a thief's any good in Undrek'thoz he knows multiple paths into that place. It's a veritable treasure trove!" He replied with a light laughed. "Follow me!" he added with a roguish wink at her and darted from the small shack and across the stony ground.

He didn't stop until he made it about a block and a half and was crouched down behind a stone wall on the outskirts of the magical grounds. It was only then that he turned around and to see where Imordana was and if she had kept up with him. A moment later she slipped beside him in the shadows, her teeth clenched and a stony annoyed glint to her face.

"Next time, give me a warning Tos." Imordana snorted in an aggravated tone.

"Right..next time." Phraktos replied with a small gulp and then proceeded to feel the stones of the wall in front of him. After a few moments, with a deeply furrowed forehead and sweat running down his face he finally managed to locate the brick that triggered the false wall to open in front of them.

"Ah..there it is!" he exclaimed triumphantly. "Allow me to go first, I really have no idea if anyone else has found this or if any creatures have found the hidden tunnel by now. It's been ages since I last used it." He explained, and then slide inside the tunnel and slowly crawled inside on his forearms.

Imordana merely nodded at Phraktos' words and waited until he had pulled his tall lanky body all the way into the tunnel before she followed after him. The smell of the tunnel was horrendous..but not something that Imordana couldn't handle having seen death and smelling even more ghastly odors in her lifetime. They had only gone a short way in when Phraktos came to a stop in front of her, causing her to pause in her descent into the tunnel.

"I heard something up ahead of us, I'm not sure exactly what it is. It could be a spider of enormous proportions or something ten times worse." Phraktos whispered to her with revulsion written all over his face.

"Move aside weakling," Imordana snorted wishing she still had eyes so she could roll them at him. "I'll take care of this."

Phraktos opened his mouth to object, but before he could Imordana pushed him aside and crawled up the tunnel to where he had heard the sound come from. Phraktos cursed, and followed after her as fast as he could. he wasn't about to allow her to get herself killed off by being stupid and he had no doubt that if something did happen to her, that magician lover of hers would hunt him down and kill him quite horribly.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 01, 2009 9:59 am

Imordana moved forward as quietly and quickly as she could, she wasn't about to give up on the whole mission just because her thief had gotten cold feet. She snorted and rolled her eyes as she remembered his words. Oh..he had heard something had he? Well..to hell with his ears, she didn't give a damn if he had heard something! The only reason to come up short and turn around would be if he had seen something that could actually cause them harm.

As she pulled herself around a corner, Imordana froze suddenly her nerves racing at the sudden drop in the middle of the tunnel. She pulled herself slightly back, and drew in several breathes before eyeing the hole and trying to figure out a way around it. When Phraktos finally joined her, all she had to do was point out the hole to him.

The thief cocked his head, eyed the hole and then eyed her. "If I lay out over the hole, which I definitely could with my long arms and legs, you could crawl over me to the other side and then help me after you. How much do you weigh again?" he asked with a slight twinkle in his eyes.

Imordana actually liked the idea, but she didn't like his question. She knew however, that if she weighed too much she could cause them to fall through the hole and into whatever was down below. She sighed, and replied. "I'm around 150, Surely you're strong enough to be able to hold me up." She teased.
The thief laughed lightly and playfully tweaked her nose. "I suppose, as long as your guess is close enough to your actual weight." Then with a roguish wink at her, Phraktos slid forward to become a bridge across the hole.

Imordana brooded over his words and waited a moment before she began to attempt the journey over his tall lanky form. Gods..that really did not sound good in her head. If Dra' ever heard her say something like that, who knew how he might react. She slowly made her way across Phraktos, being careful not to nudge or disturb the thief so that it would result in their tumbling down the hole. After several agonizing moments of the thief shaking slightly under her, she was finally across the hole. She breathed a slight sigh of relief before she grasped his forearms firmly and nodded to him.

Phraktos grinned at her, and let his legs go loose from the other side. The sudden change of weight and gravity's pull on him had him sliding down the hole slightly. Thankfully though, the priestess didn't panic at the thief's life depending on her grasp, she just dug into the tunnel floor with her feet and held on as Phraktos managed to swing one leg up onto the hole's edge. A moment later Phraktos was up and laying on top of the priestess. She scowled up at him, her empty eye sockets appearing fixated on him, which nearly scared the crap out of him.

"Uh..sorry about that." he nearly stammered as he pushed himself off of her and adverted his eyes to the tunnel floor.

"No problem.." She murmured her left eyebrow rising up at him as she brushed her clothing off. "Now let's get a move on shall we"

Phraktos merely nodded, and followed after Imordana..the strange encounter making him wonder about his employer. Most employers would never insist on being involved in a job, what was it about this job that caused Imordana the need to make sure everything go exactly as planned? Whatever it was it had to be something that was considerably urgent and personal to her.

The rest of the trip in the underground tunnel went without any mishaps. Save for an encounter with a gigantic rat, which Phraktos was able to kill off before it succeeded in attacking Imordana. She seemed rather thankful for his fast reflexes and nodded appreciatively at him before continuing to the end of the tunnel.

At the end of the tunnel, there was an grate at least 10 feet above them, with no sort of handholds to get to the top. Phraktos had to end up acting as a ladder for the lady once more. Well..a little more than a ladder. He ended up holding her up for a good ten minutes before she was able to unlatch the grate and pull herself up into the storage room beneath the School of Magic. Then he scrambled up after her, and crouched low on the floor next to her.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 27, 2009 1:33 pm

Phraktos' eyes fluttered over the items in the room briefly, his fingers itching to search through the many drawers and cupboards in the room. He frowned, cracked his knuckles and stilled the inner voice that begged him to start going through things.
"Where to now Lady Fi?" He asked in a low whisper, glancing over at her.

Imordana's eyebrows raised at his words and she frowned slightly as she regarded him for a few moments silently before striding towards the door that lead out of the storage room and tried to slowly open it. The door was locked..and wouldn't budge. Imordana frowned even more deeply, sighed and gestured fro him to see to the lock.

Phraktos grinned slightly, came over and knelt in front of the door and pulled out two thin pieces of wire and in seconds had the lock picked. He grinned, stood up and pulled the door open slowly, stowing his wire pieces back into his pouches. "After you Lady Fi."

Imordana grunted slightly and pushed by him, pulling her cloak up over her head obscuring her features and hiding her face from sight. She definitely didn't want anyone remembering that there had been a female in the School that hadn't possessed eyes. As far as she knew, she was the only female that matched that description and she didn't want her plans for the future foiled in any manner.

Phraktos followed after Imordana, pulling his own cloak over his armor, so to hide it from sight. Of course he had no clue that most wizards and mages in training were often garbed in armor themselves to keep themselves from getting harmed too easily by their enemies. The intrigues that went on inside the Magic school was often hidden and kept secret from those on the outside so not to scare away potential students. Though..that wasn't likely to happen..as most drow gifted with magics would give anything, even an arm or leg to be taught the secrets of their craft. Magic was often a well kept secret from those who didn't have the giftings of it.

They walked down the lower hallways, keeping their heads low when they passed servants and few other drow still haunting the halls in secret. No one even bothered giving them a glance; this rather surprised Phraktos. Underneath his cloak he kept his eyes alert and on every passing drow, looking out for any dangers they might pose to the mission getting completed.

After what seemed like ages of walking and traversing the stairways towards the upper hallways and rooms, Imordana finally stopped him with a single hand on his arm. Phraktos paused in his footsteps and turned to glance at where she had stopped him. The door looked rather unremarkable and rather plain in fact. There didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary about it, but he didn't doubt that this was the room that she wanted.

Imordana peered around to make sure no one was coming their way, and then muttered a quick invisibility spell under her breath and used it to cloak both of them from any prying eyes. Then she set to work finding and eliminating any booby traps that had been placed on the door of the room. It took her a great deal of work to find them and shut them down so that no one would be any the wiser of them being tampered with. Of course she would have to remember which spells had been used and in what order so that she would be able to redo them once they had left the room and absconded with the item she had need of.

Finally..the first set of booby trap spells had been dispelled enough for the door to be tampered with. She elbowed Phraktos in the gut and signed with her hands for him to get unlocking the door. The thief grinned at her and bent over and in seconds had the door unlocked. Imordana took another look around to make sure no one was watching or coming down the hallway and then slid the door open slowly praying that the hinges wouldn't squeak and give them away.

The door open soundlessly, causing Imordana to release a small breath of relief. She glanced around the room carefully and then slid into the room, signing for Phraktos to hold back and wait for her to finish getting rid of the booby traps.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:36 pm

Phraktos wasn't too happy with being left outside the room, what was he supposed to do if someone were to walk by and see him? They'd most likely notice the door that was now ajar and figure out what was going on in a split second. Grumbling to himself, Phraktos crossed his arms over his chest and kept his eyes constantly fluttering from side to side to make sure no one was coming down the hallway.

Imordana could feel the tension emanating off of Phraktos from outside the room and couldn't help but be glad for it. Despite having never worked with such a tense drow before, she could tell that it kept him aware of everything and that if there was anyone coming she'd know instantly. They still had a good hour before the sorcerer returned to his chambers.

With that firmly in mind, Imordana's eyes flickered across the room trying to remember where all the booby traps that Dra had told her about were exactly. If she forgot even one of them, She and the thief would have a sorcerer tracking them down for filching his precious belongings. Imordana breathed in deeply and stilled herself imagining where the booby traps were located. It took her about fifteen minutes to go about the room chanting the shut down spells over all the entry points and hidden secret entries. When that was done she went back to the door and motioned for Phraktos to come in.

Phraktos hadn't heard any signs of life or seen anything while he had waited, though he was starting to get impatient from having to wait so long. He rather hoped that the priestess would hurry up and get done with her work. A moment later, he was relieved when the female's face peered out and she motioned for him to come inside.

Phraktos slid inside the room, his eyes slowly taking in the arrangement of the room. He almost immediately moved over to the fake window seat and started tapping the sides to figure out how to open it. "Did you check this for any booby traps?" He asked when a black cloud suddenly emerged and covered his face with a sooty film. he blinked and then cursed. "crap...get this off of me!" He grumbled as he tried to get the soot out of his eyes with the edge of his cloak.

"STOP!" Imordana commanded her face turning red with anger and one of her eyelids began to twitch sporadically. "What the hell is wrong with you?" She moaned into her hand.

Phraktos stilled and stared at Imordana with wide fear laced eyes. He had never seen a female's face twitch like that before and it rather frightened him to say the least.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled averting his eyes to the ground and dropping his cloak to the ground.

Imordana groaned, and slowly made her way over to him. She pulled his face up with one hand and then used a cleansing spell to clean off the soot like powder off of his face. "It doesn't appear to be anything bad, but its possible that the stuff would stain anything it touches. Now..open the seat carefully." Imordana ordered, pointing to a latch on the underside of the cushioned seat that Phraktos had missed before.

Phraktos stiffened slightly when Imordana pulled his face up and couldn't help but twitch at the magic spell that cleaned off his face and armor. "Thank you," He said in a low tone and then opened the window seat slowly to reveal a shiny gold chest inside, surrounded by four dark rubies. "I gather those rubies are probably booby trapped." He said rolling his eyes at the audacity of a sorcerer making a trap so obvious.

"Hold on, sometimes sorcerers do the complete opposite than you think, just to screw with thieves." Imordana interjected, putting a hand on Phraktos' arm to keep him from reaching inside.

Imordana chanted a revealing spell on the contents and was rather surprised to find that the stones weren't warded or booby trapped but the chest itself was. "well well..its the chest that's a booby trap. This is odd." She mused as she stepped back to examine the outward appearance of the window seat and then to once more peer inside of it.
"Aha..what I'm looking for must be underneath the chest."
