The Cranky Writers' Guild
Hello, I'm Bane. Many of you have noticed that the Writers' Forum just isn't as much fun anymore. There's misplaced threads, flame wars and hardly any discussion on actual writing anymore. This has to stop.
Mission Statement:
We, the Writers of the Writers' Forum, have formed this guild to foster creativity and community in the Writers' Forum. We want to be known as a fun and friendly place to be – not a banal and elitist forum of flamers.
FAQ:
What are we doing?
Sure, it's fun to use buzzwords like "foster creativity", but what are we actually doing?
1. Creating original threads. It's seems highly hypocritical to complain about the low quality of threads when we're not getting out and making these threads ourselves!
2. Being firm, not flamers. There's always going to be disagreement in the Writers' Forum, but as a group we should agree not to lose our cool and start a bitchfest – we should rather take the high ground and let the opponent spiral into a string of looking like the bad guy (And if our guild is a success, they would be.)
3. Having a good laugh. When people call us elitist, it may be because a lot of us have drained the fun out of writing and took everything so seriously – it's time to lighten up!
4. Helping the mods. Normally I'd say helping the mods, but it seems poor Penden is fighting a losing battle by herself. We can help. Rather than turning misplaced threads into tangled messes of flaming, we should simply place a link to the thread in the Where To Post sticky. biggrin
5. Remembering why we're here in the first place. We're going to talk about writing! We're going to critique! We're going to have fuuuuuuunnnnn!
Is this another clique?
There's been several harsh criticisms regarding the clique-like nature of the Writers' Forum – the Clavian Empire and the DiVAS come to mind. But let me assure you right here and now that the CW is not a clique – we're an open membership society devoted to making the Writers' Forum a better place for everyone.
Why are you so sexy?
Some say I was born this way, others say it's how I use the word "synergy". Rrrrawrl.
I'm sorry, I must have wandered off-topic.
Can I be a mod?
Unless your name is Hemp Fandango or finalrain, then no. But if we grow and there's need for a third mod, I'll pick one.
Can I post my story/poem/fanfiction here?
Yes! But be willing to take critiscm.
Will you marry me?
That depends. What are you wearing?

4. Helping the mods. Normally I'd say helping the mods
Um, don't you mean "helping the mod."
And I would also like to mention that even though it bore my name I do not support the actions the clavian empire partook in.

I filled out the "Why do you want to join" section. I honestly don't know much about these guilds. Do I have to wait for something that says I'm allowed to join.
-Forgive the old folk, here.

That was just odd. We should probably put our "we accept anybody who writes" policy on the welcome page. Reading over the applications we get, people seem to be afraid we aren't going to accept them.

I like the sound of that xd And yes, we are afraid we won't be accepted, because some of the guilds are "You have to be this-and-that to join" kinds of guilds...

Oy... looking the nasty past in the face with this thread. I think I'm going to write an essay on the Clavian Empire from one of the leaders. We honestly hated the way it turned out.
But the rules will be easy to adhere to.
