i tried out for a solo today.
i think i did good, like better than first chair (im second chair), but some people say that first chair was louder. which is wierd because usually I play louder than him. arg.

I think when Tuba Players have solos it's one of the hardest solos in the ensemble. Because Tuba's usually don't HAVE solos. xD Good luck on your solo!

What instrument? I really hope you get it. Personally in my opinion it shouldn't matter as much on how loud it is rather it should matter on how much in tune you are, and how good your tone is. I really hope you get it!

I play trumpet. And we STILL haven't heard the results. Thanks for all the motivation though!
By the way, we were both in tune, and thats why now it matters who is louder. I need to take in WAY more air. It is getting harder for me to hit high notes now! Oh no!

More air is good. Air is free, and no one cares if you waste it. smile Air will solve all your problems...99% Air, 1% Talent. That's how I think of it. And I think I'm doing pretty well off. smile Everyone I've ever studied with says the same thing too. Afterall, you can't play without air.

They normally have parts w/ Bass Clarinets or Bari Saxes. [I play Tuba. :3 I have a special part with a Baritone Sax. x3]
The only Tuba solo I heard of is in An American in Paris.
Anyway, I wanted a Flute solo, but never got it. I was the youngest one in my section [I was a 6th grade going into 7th, and the rest were 7th graders going into 8th nad 8th going into 9th.]. ;~; Not fair! D:

oh wow. i forgot to tell you guys that i didn't get it. its been a long time. oh well! now we are doing a new piece of music though. i think my BD thinks we are on the same level we were before because it is kind of the same notes. well maybe he doesn't because the key signature changes about 60 times.

That sucks that you didn't get the solo
But hopefully you'll get another one in the future
I've had 10 solos and it's fun, especially when it's improv.
