It just struck me that we don't have a place for incoming players to introduce themselves!

If you're new, you might want to pop in here and say hey! Maybe mention a bit about yourself/role-plays you've been in or what you like about LoSI.

Everyone else, feel free to greet them!

I suppose I'll go first.

Hello everyone I'm Funky Monk. I'm extremely into music, hiking reading and comics. Of those this guild appeals to my super hero love quite well. I enjoy writing and although I'm not fantastic I do the best with what I've got. Roleplaying is actually a little new to me I only just discovered it back in October and I must say that in that short time I've become quite fed up with the monotonous threads of Barton town (You know, all the god foresaken vampires/slave/apocalypse/any other repetitive idea). I really look forward to being apart of this guild.

I'm sure there is more I could say but my head's a little scrambled right now so that'll have to wait.

Seliza here, because super heroes are awesome. I've played through Yahoo!Groups from back when it was eGroups, and even before that, when it was OneList... but as this is Gaia, I doubt any of the old names'll ring familiar with anyone. To put it in more like years, I've been playing for around ten years now.

I don't know why I've migrated to Gaia, except that I wanted a change of scenery.

What I love about play-by-post and play-by-email games is that I love to write. The games give me a chance to practice my skills in a daily way because someone's counting on me to post. I can see how other people are perceiving my characters and try to figure out how what to do about that.

Erm... I love super heroes because they're awesome. What more can you say about that?

For the record, I love a good vampire or apocalyptic game. The problem isn't in the premise--it's in the Twilight-obsessed thirteen-year-old players. Too many people making the games in Barton seem to just want to fit the mold, not explore it. If that makes any sort of sense.

Lalala... I'm a college student, studying to become an elementary school teacher or librarian. I love music. I almost went into vocal performance, except that... Well, long story. I watch some anime, mostly because I love a good plot and some anime has a good plot. (Not all.) My main form of entertainment lately has been reading massive amounts of books. If you want a suggestion for some fantasy reading, I'm always glad to spew out a list.

And I ramble. I try not to, but it happens. I'm probably rambling right now.

I'm Nevi, Vice-Captain of the guild. I've never really been certain of why, because I'm not very good at working on plot or even running an RP, but it turns out I'm good at character development and organizing so here I am! (It probably doesn't hurt that I am Atrox's girlfriend...) You probably won't see me play too many characters because, like Cait, I do way too much at school and don't have enough free time.

Right now I am studying abroad in Ireland for the semester, so my internet access is even more limited, as I don't have internet access outside of school. But, I am having a great time and if you want to follow my trip feel free to read my blog, linked below in my signature as "Boudicca's Gift".

Generally, I attend college in New Rochelle, NY in the US and have decided to do something very silly and become a religion studies major. No one knows yet what I intend to do with this major (including me) but I'd really like to study the pre-christian religion of Ireland, and specifically the druids role in that society. I have NO IDEA if this is even possible, but we shall see.

I'll probably waitress for the rest of my life or something.

PostPosted: Mon Feb 23, 2009 2:35 pm

Good day to you, sir or madame, I am MU (pronounced as a cow would), and a crew member of LoSI. Unlike the more administration-and-organization-oriented Nevi below, my crew machinations deal entirely with plot and helping people with their writing (though this last one gets seldom used. For instance the last person who came to me to help on his writing was Mayday... and look at him now!). I am fairly certain that, along with Atrox Saint himself, I am the only person to have seen all electronic manifestations of LoSI to date (There have been, like 6). I am also the oldest crew member (since Ludo Monster can't really be considered crew anymore).

That said, I am in college indefinitely (but everybody feels that way, you know?), enjoy parenthetical statements (even though my professors don't), and am studying international affairs and German (das ich sprechen kann). With this I plan to write while running a coffee shop and living on a self-sustaining farm in a heavily wooded and hilly area of the world. You can see for yourselves the obvious applications of these focuses of study.

I enjoy everything.

Greetings, salutations, and all that rot. Dorian Raker's the name, and I've bounced around the Gaia RP forums for a bit now. I started RPing back in the days before it had graduated very far beyond pen and paper games. I hung around in MU*'s for a bit and, while penning a novel, decided to wander into the Gaia RP forums as an easy way to kill a weekend.

Since then, I've been a part of a few fairly good Lit RPs, though most have been terrible piles of effluent ranging from "Angsty Teen Vampire Du Jour", "Plotless Forest/ RP surprise", "Nekos of the Apocalypse", and ever more pointless drivel.

Currently I'm on the weary homestretch of achieving my Bachelors in English and getting my first book published (happy dance). I've got precious little downtime though often enough it's spent penning words in one form or another, and I'm always looking for another wordsmithing hobby to keep me nice and limber.

Aside from all of that, I'm a leather-clad laureate; pen-slinging, guitar-wielding force of nature dwelling somewhere in America's pacific northwest. I enjoy arguments, inkstains, Irish whiskey, classic heavy metal, howling at the rain, well-forged steel, and watching candles burn to the very end.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi! I'm [Squeaky Clean], obviously, but I hate when people use the full username, so just call me Squeaky.

I've only been RPing since late 2004, early 2005, and then took a nearly two year long break from RPing. The last time I made a post that wasn't trying to set up some failed RP was in April of 2007. So, it is safe to say that it has been quite some time since I've RPed. However, I am back, and ready to brush off my fingertips and get them flying over the keys once more for some grand RPing.

Beyond the pixels, I am an unemployed college freshman mooching off my boyfriend, a fellow member of this guild, for food, shelter, and INTERNETS! He doesn't seem to mind though. My current major is early childhood education, but I feel that I may change it to English and decide to brave the evils that exist in high school and teach. Either way, I'd like to become a teacher when I grow up.

Oh, I'm so very sadly addicted to that thing known as World of Warcraft. I can't help it. I live in the middle of nowhere and there usually isn't anything else to do except go on the computer.

I think I'm done with this little introduction, and I hope to eventually join you all in wonderful RPing! Yay!

This is a great idea! I love reading these

Hey there, I'm a91nicole- but my name isn't nicole . Its Allison. Nicole is my middle name (you can still call me nicole though). Yes, I know its strange, but I created this username when I first got an AOL and was about ten and had this thing against my first name. Speaking of names, they fascinate me. I love their meanings, sounds, and the thoughts that occur to a person when they hear a name.

I've been rping for five years now, though I write on my own constantly. I started off in an Inuyasha rp w/ a very mary sue cat demon named Rynn who became a very non mary sue main character of a dark thread that had nothing to do w/ inuyasha other than the race. I have gone through many rps, most of them died right when they were about to get exciting and most of gaia rps piss me off. They focus on silly topics or the most boring, ununique characters ever.

I love exploring my characters minds, motives, and emotions. I have too many characters for my own good and I was attracted to LoSI because it is something I've never tried before and find intriguing. Not to mention the crew and members here are very welcoming and very not snobby. I enjoy singing, writing, drawing and flirting. I'm 17 and a junior in high school with hopes of attending the Savannah College of Art and Design and obtaining a degree in advertising design.

Gatta Forte

PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:15 pm

I'm Averill [which is actually my middle name, as per a family tradition], better known here on Gaia as Gatta Forte, but please, call me Gatta. I'm a 17-year-old high school senior, which basically means my life is busy as crap right now. On the bright side, this fall, I'm going to be going to Longwood University! biggrin

I got started on roleplaying a long time ago on Neopets... where a few literate roleplayers existed, but generally, there were a lot of Mary Sues and Gary Stus. Plus, all of the threads were deleted after 25 pages because of some setting Neopets had its forums on... so basically, you might never see a roleplayer again unless you exchanged information at the end of a roleplay. I then gave up on roleplaying when I came to Gaia, save for a little bit of roleplaying via IM with Toshimi, until I quite literally stumbled across LoSI. I decided to dust off my old roleplaying experience and join the previous incarnation of LoSI. I then made a pretty big mistake and quit... and regretted it even more when it died. I checked it out and found this version of LoSI. It's actually probably one of the two reasons I even still get on Gaia. =]

That's about all I can think of to say...

How long has this been here? How do I miss these things...

Hello, I'm Atrox Saint (or 'Trox, Atrox, Saint, or perhaps even Josh). I am the Captain and creator of LoSI (although it has certainly changed since that ridiculous little story off NSMV). As MU mentioned, LoSI has had many incarnations: Short Story, Jolt Forum, Gaia Guild, Gaia Guild 2.0.

I like well, written engaging roleplays of any genre, however I have a special, rabid place in my heart for super heroes. Magic-type stuff is good, too. I first started role-playing with MU in a little chunk of Awesome known as NSMV. That's "Nation States Martha's Vineyard." Basically, a bunch of us on the island divided the map into smaller countries and role-played ourselves as their leaders. My nation was "The Dark Nexus;" a land of rampant cloning and constant political uprisings. I moved to Gaia to join MU's "Pure Project." It was awesome like you wouldn't believe, but sadly it fell apart.

These days I watch this guild and my recruiting RP, "Unsung," while planning new projects that may never get off the ground (Wulfgang's Arena). I'm also involved in "Human Cloning" a slice of kickass from our own Mayday22. Of course, there's always a project or two cooking up in my head and you can expect another attempt at awesome to get off the ground every few weeks.

P.S. I also really like the word "awesome."

Wow! So great to hear from everyone!

I’m mayday22. I have many nicknames here and in real-life. May, mayday, Mr. Day…

Brian (my actual name, I'm pretty sure...), Paul, and about 10 more I could rattle off… but would rather not. They’d be far too difficult to explain.

I joined in the last Gaia Guild attempt of LoSI because my cousin, Doctor Clean, mentioned it to me. I fell in love. It’s actually embarrassing, how terrible some of my posts were in the last attempt, and I’m sure in two years when I look back on the posts I’m making now, I’ll say the same thing about them. I am honored to be working as a crew member beside ‘Trox, Nevi, and MU. Internet game or not, this thing has made a remarkable impact on me.

I’ve taken part in countless games on this site. My highlight apart from LoSI has been, by far, as ‘Trox mentioned, Human Cloning (HC). LoSI pulled me to this site, and my notable attempt at running a guild was Project: Abnormality. But the one time I finally broke away and created something successful on my own was with HC. Of course, now its continuation can be attributed to ‘Trox’s contribution…

Outside of this site, I spend my time writing, reading, and shooting archery. My first love is writing, though, and my archery will never come before that. I would rather publish a book than win the Olympics. I’m not just saying that. It’s a truth I would never deny, even in front of my archery coach.

Hmm… personality… that’s always fun. I care about everything and everyone, maybe a little too much. I analyze everything. I try to be open and honest about my feelings towards anything. I over-think everything. I get carried away in planning. I am well aware of a complete lack in transition between these sentences. I'm proud of who I am and I try to stay happy and positive in my life. Which sounds lame, but surprisingly works. I hate competition in relationships and in sports. I respect any competition for ideas or philosophies. I also put much of my care, time, and effort into my relationships with other people. At this point in my life, the hardest thing for me to do is trust somebody, and so I have always tried to make people feel like they can trust me.

Yeah. I’m always open to help anyone out with anything, so don’t hesitate. Otherwise, I look forward to LoSI-ing with you!

Hello. I am Wrong As Rain, or Brian, if you'd prefer a name. I'm not too fond of Brian, however. If I could choose, I'd probably be named something classy like Frederich, Dimitry or even Charlie. Mm. Charlie would be a great name.

Regardless, I've been roleplaying since... maybe 6-ish years ago (on and off, with great hiatuses that menace with spikes of videogames and null social interaction), starting my career on neopets. I believe my favorite characters were a ninja who wore red and mainly punched (with some exceptions for overly large shurikens[sp?] and daggers), and a cat-man, race akin to the main character of FF9, who wielded an oversized gladius and frequently spent time being "deep". Deep as in short monologues based on how he doesn't feel much emotion and likes the way tall grass looks on a windy day after dew has formed. He was in a constant state of detachment and looseness as if he had woken up not too long ago.

I remember how in grade 8 I wrote a story about a trainwreck off of a bridge into a canyon where the characters were possibly insane. They mostly hid in wreckage from possible murderers and hallucinated the bridge which no one could climb up as being covered in flesh, almost alive. I wrote this in something like 3 pages of size 29382390475 font and double space. It was called Rock Bottom or something. It was really, really bad. My teacher told me I was quite possibly the best writer in the school, and I should work on that. Now I want to be a psychologist or something.

My childhood was meh. My parents "separated" one year, and my best friend moved away maybe a year or two after. I wasn't huge, but I was kind of stocky (probably with my being the only to notice), and my hair was too long and I didn't shower much. Grade 7 or 8 was a sort of break-through time, where I started to do very well academically, compared to in the past. Now, I'm a steady 80-ish student without working at things. I should probably work at things, I'd likely get great marks.

I'm kind of shy. I don't like to put myself out there, except for a few times where I piss people off and then see how they react. I'd say it's pitiful if it weren't pitiful how I react to things.

I dream a lot. Sometimes dreams are lucid, sometimes I wouldn't even want to interrupt the natural flow, if I consistently could. I like to listen to people's dreams, kind of analyze them. Maybe it comes from how massive and complicated my dreams are (or just how much I remember about them) causing others' to seem basic. I wish I could tell what it means if I'm in a 'competition to decide the superior alternative of humanity', where I'm the only one like me, and I'm being swarmed by hoards of MM0021's and MM0022's who I have to flee or kill (predominantly by snapping their necks, punching them so hard that their skulls shatter or slam headfirst into the ground, again shattering their skulls.

Also, I hate most furries, Twilight, incorrect renditions of inefficient armour (as "boob-plates" = metal "cleavage" being torn and wedged into your chest, repressing your ability to breathe, leaving you to slowly suffocate, bleed out or bleed into your lungs, causing you to suffocate and it is never a good idea to leave your midriff, arms or crotch exposed), incorrect renditions of 'sexy' fantasy races (or overly erotic fantasy at all), vore and more.

Oh jeez I wrote a lot.

Hello, I've been around a while but I guess I should type this up.... sweatdrop

So, hi! I'm AlmaPheonix, Alma ,which is my middle name, my first being Catherine... >.> I'd prefer Alma as most people here know me by that. Besides, Catherine/Catie is a really common name... -_- I know at least 5 Catie/Katie/Katy/Caty(s) at my school that aren't me. But I only know one person that has the exact same spelling as me. Most other people are Kaitlin(s) or Katherine(s) and stuff.

I guess I've been role-playing kinda sorta this way for about 2-3 years.... It was a really simple RP with ** and first person, your avi was you character and stuff but it was fun. I've become a little more serious as time went on but this is really my first RP intensive Guild. So far, it's been awesome! ^ ^

I first joined Gaia after my sis showed it to me and I just started. Honestly, I didn't really enjoy Gaia til I joined the guild The Kingdom Who's Name Can Not Be Pronounced which was really fun mini-community until we lost one of our members to cancer and the guild came to a halt. A few months ago, the guild owner officially stated he can't keep up with the guild and it's been on the verge of death except for myself and about 5 others. And we don't really know what to do... But at least I have this guild! ^ ^

Since my char, Alma, is based on me, you'll be sure to see similarities. But in short, I'm in the strange, manga/anime/gamers/geeky/odd peeps group at school. I'm imperfect and I embrace that fact. If you really want to know me, just talk with me... I guess.... o.o And I doubt I could explain my own personality to another person, it's up to their interpretation. 3nodding

If I haven't scared you away from me, I hope we do some great RP-ing with each other! xd

Greetings and salutations. Name is Phantom I live in NYC.

I'm the Captain of a guild alot like this one but that takes place in Gaia. Well it kind of died. I was a member of the guild quite a few years and wasn't always the Captain i inherited it.

So you can imagine my overwhelming delight when i bumped into you're lovely thread while grudgingly looking for a new guild to join. I hope to soon jump into the RP as soon as i finish deciding what angle i want to take with my sociopath villain. At this point i am just trying to figure out the degree.

Doctor Clean

PostPosted: Wed Apr 01, 2009 4:42 pm

Hello. My Gaian name is Doctor Clean, but my real name is Chris. I actually joined Gaia to join LoSI, not the LoSI you know now... for those of you who didn't know this role-play is a reboot of an old one that I used to belong to. Then my characters were Doctor Clean and the Atomic Spit-Boy. Now neither of those characters exist in this version of LoSI. My friend Mike got me involved with this role-play so maybe I should send a shout out to him. I am IN LOVE with musical theater. I love love love it. I am majoring in it at either Pace or Wagner or Carnegie Mellon (I hope this one only I haven't heard from them yet). I am a senior in high school and like I have stated music is my life. I am in Music Makers (the select choir of our school) and Concert Choir. For those of you interested I have had a variety of different roles in the musicals/plays: Guys and Dolls, The Hobbit, Footloose, Wind in the Willows, Honk!, Damn Yankees, Our Town, Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, The Marriage of Ananasewa, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hello Dolly, Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, Fiddler on the Roof, The Crucible, and Pirates of Penzance.
