Jamie sighed softly as he padded around the borders of a forest, looking up to the sky wistfully. He had been born with stunted wings -- if one could even call it that -- that prevented him from flying, like most of the other Easterners. It made him feel left out, but he knew that there were others who didn't have any wings at all, so he settled with what he had.
Despite that, though, he was quite an optimistic helix, often seen romping around a field and whatnot. Recently, he had been in the forest looking for some sweet fruit or other to sate his hunger. Having eaten his fill, he had left to where he was now, the borders, looking for anything that might catch his interest.
Seeing no one close by, he flapped his feathers again, bored with the seemingly lack of activity. He turned left, away from the trees and into a meadow, stopping when he reached a stream to drink.

It was quiet beneath the trees. Too quiet, for even the wind seemed still on this warm day, the air too heavy. For Akaeta, it was deafening. Though silent she may have been herself, she did not like a silence that caused even thoughts to become frayed.
Today was one of those days. She sighed quietly, tired from traveling in the continuous greenery. Stepping into the meadow seemed an amazing change, a grateful change. But she paused, noticing another Helix by the edge of a stream, clear water shining like liquid silver through the green.
She stepped forward, cautious of who this Helix was, and how they acted. You could never be too careful. "Hello..?" She said softly, her voice sweet for one whose eyes were like hard amber.

Jamie spent a while by the stream, prodding at anything that swam by with his nose. His tail was waving excitedly as he asmused himself with the scattering fish and he was so concentrated on what he was doing that the sudden voice behind him made him jump. He landed in the water, splashing his stomach, and probably anything else close to him. Ignoring the cold water dripping from his fur, he turned to face the speaker.
"Hello." he said to her, smiling when he noticed the familiar flash of jewlery he had often see in his reflections in the water. He flicked his left ear, showing off his own earring, as if the common accesories they wore were of significance at that point. He peered curiously at the other objects she had draped about her, some sort of head thing and a necklace with an oddly shaped object attached to it. Realizing that his shameless staring could be taken as an offense, he quickly dipped his head in a polite greeting, and said, "Nice to meet you."

Her stature relaxed quickly at the somber voice, and how this Helix acted, more puppy-ish then anything. "Please forgive me for startling, I didn't mean to." She lowered nose slightly, her eyes looking at the ground in the way she had learned as a small pup. It was normal. She padded forward slowly, comforted my the small heaviness upon her brown and around her neck. Comforting things. Familiar things.
"Are the forests here always so quiet?" She asked, her golden eyes lightening as she slowly let her guard slip to calm.

(( She's being RPed as an adolescent, yes? I was kinda unsure so I got rid of the part where Jamie was surprised that she was so small in the last post. xD;; ))
"That's all right." Jamie said, hoping to reassure her. "It was just unexpected." He laughed, getting out of the river. "As you could probably tell." He looked around, wanting to shake the water off his fur but unwilling to splash the female he had just met. He decided to just stand there for the moment, letting the water drip off his fur. He was quite a comical sight, with his top half dry and his lower half dark, clumped with water, and dripping.
"Hmm?" he cocked his ear and blinked, looking at the forest. "I suppose." he shrugged. "The birds still sing and insects chirp, but only when they want to. They still prefer the sky, like the other Easterners." He sniffed, his three feathers twitching. His eyes lit up with realization, though, and he turned to face her once more. "Are you new here?" he asked.
