Before 5D's came out, everyone was bashing turbo duels with stuff like "Card games on motor bikes. That's the most stupidest thing ever!"
I thought it was stupid when I heard it, and now, I still think they're stupid. I understand the Speed World and the new rules, it is a different way of playing. (Although I prefer ground duel rules.) The thing is, there still isn't a reason to play them on motorcycles. To my knowledge, the duel runners do nothing that effect the actual duel, they race around the track for no reason at all. What is the point of even going fast? They should do SOMETHING to validate them being on bikes, like you gain an extra 1000 life points every time you lap your opponent.
Anyways give me your opinions.

I liked the idea of it in the anime. Brings the sense of YGO being an actual sport to the series. Then the story started, and I was a bit... iffy. But a good story it is.
I heard it's going to be applied in the upcoming DS game. The effects of existing cards are being altered to match the concept of Speed Counters. It sounds interesting for the aspect, but I don't like what's becoming of the card effects.

Why do we get mats as prizes? There is no actual reason for them and they don't effect the game but they look good.

The point of the duel runner was just for the purpose of emphasis on the speed counters and speed world. Other than that the whole d-wheel has no point.

You don't get indicators? Does the UK have Regionals?
I believe only mats won at Regionals have indicators showing to where the cards go. Hobby Leage, Nationals, and Judges' mats don't. Either way, the design at the very least is made for YGO, using both a playmat and professional card sleeves is the best way to keep your cards in good condition, and the majority of them going for $30-60 each in the United States is good enough for me to try and win it for free.

Sieg Selwyn You don't get indicators? Does the UK have Regionals? We have National Qualifiers, ones where only the top 1 qualifies and a few where the top 8 qualify. It's basicly a normal tournament except for the chance to go to the Nationals. I called the TO and apparently they need to wait for Upper Deck to send out the Santioning numbers for these premier events. Also no word on my mat yet. scream
