Well I find it odd that there isn't a thread for this.
I for one really like Anime with clear steampunk elements, manly Trigun. Anyone else a fan?

While I love Trigun, it has more Sci-fi elements then anything else.
I can suggest seeing Xam'd: Lost Memories... it's bloody awesome.

Yeah, Trigun is more of a sci-fi western, since the planet they're on is really just a colonized planet that's been abandoned (and has been in a drought for ages). Or I'm forgetting the story and it's only Vash and Knives that came from space... I really can't remember; it's been at least 5 years since I watched it.
One of the reasons I like anime still, after all these years, is that every now and then, something awesome shows up, particularly with steampunk.
Kino's Journey had a steampunk feel to it, to me. Nothing steampunk about it, and I recall it was extremely boring otherwise, but it had that old-world steampunk-appropriate feel to it.
Of course, I'm not mentioning the obvious SteamBoy and all of the Studio Ghibli works.

Nausica is Steampunkish (Flying ships in a Archaic world) Castle in the Sky, Howls Moving Castle. A bit more Magic in these, but still. I am a Manga nut, so, I keep looking for good stuff. On a Similar note, Battle Angel Alita is Cyberpunk. Cyborgs and robots in a post-apoctliptic world.

And for that matter, Trigun, either The main series isn't uber-steampunk (although it has some elements), but the movie's version of Germany pretty much replaces 'Alchemist' with 'Steampunk'...

It is not Steampunk but Rurouni Kenshin/ Samurai X does take place around 1878 right in the middle of the Victorian era. For people who like historical fiction which we all here probably do, and people who like Japanese culture it is a great, if bloody and tragic, story.

I found one that's very Steampunk. It's called SteamBoy, and it was made by the same guy who made Akira. The English cast includes the following actors:
Ann Paquin Alfred Molina Patrick Stewart Kate Walhgren

Yes, these were either rather steampunkish, and/or had steampunk things incorporated into them, but there are many many more. Samurai 7 I haven't really seen all the way through, but it has a big steampunk setting, Secret of Cerulean Sand was an interesting one I rather liked, and Windaria is a slightly older one with a stempunk theme and a little too much 'love' for me, but otherwise was an interesting movie. I know a lot of other shows, but a lot of them lean to far towards cyberpunk. That or they have elements of both incorproated in to them. Please people. Keep on listing these movies and shows. I would like to find all the steampunk series I can find. I have a bit of time on my hands, so I occupy myself with finding good fantasy shows or writings to pass the time.

Technically, I can think of no steampunk animes. From steamboy, to last exile... they all seem to have flaws that make them not steampunk. gonk I still love steamboy, and it might as well be the closest thing to steampunk I can think of, for a steampunk anime.
