Maybe this isn't Guild material, but is use of the yellow patch as the Guild image really in halfway decent taste?

Or is this just me? sweatdrop

I'd had it in my signature a while back. I got sick of seeing people running around with the Death's Head and SS paraphanelia, and had it in my sig as a way of saying Nazism isn't a game of dress-up and it had real consequences and real victims.

It was an act of protest against the appalling anti-Semitism and insensitivity on Gaia. I actually got a truckload of PMs from other Jewish Gaians who told me they were afraid to confront people about Nazism and thanked me for making something shameful into something saying "even after this, we still persist."

Of course, I got a few threats from skinheads, too, but the nice PMs made it worth it. xp

I think it stands for the idea that we must always be proud of our people, and in that remember our suffering and stand up to it like proud Jews.

In the past it was used to identify us. Now, we are showing that yes, that's us. We are the people with the yellow stars. And we're not afraid. They tried to break us with the yellow stars, but instead we've brought it back out and shoved it in their faces. The yellow stars were a weapon of the Nazis, and if we can take that away from them and transform it into something that is ours, they've got one less thing on their side and one more for us.

Bingo. What they said.

in my opinion Shaviv is absolutely right!
if we want to "protest" aganisnt Nazism this is not the way to do that.
as an Israeli I think I shuld put the flag of Israel in my sig/shops and for the jews that are not fell conected to the flag a magen david id the answer. the yellow star was to separate us from the "higer race" and we shuldent use it because it can creat a wrong impression.

I think we shuld vote about that...

I'm in agreeance as well.

I would elaborate, but Kao and Jyu made the best arguments possible on it.

The Magen David on our home page is a tribute to the six million Yehudi who lost their lives in the death camps, and it also serves as a reminder in a Maccabeeian tone of 'Never Again!'. It's also a reminder to us that we are G-d's Chosen, and no matter what Ha satan throws at us we will persevere!

I could be wrong - and Shaviv, if I am could you please correct me ? whee -
But I think what Shaviv ment , wasn't how the star would affect non-jews when they see it , but how it's going to affect Jews when they see it. I understand what you all say , and I do agree , but my knee -jerk reaction to the star is to cringe , the connotations are a bit too painful .

Though I have to admit, I am sensitive to the subject , so it could just be me.

If y'all want, we can take a vote, but I kind of think the outcome will keep the star on the homepage.
