Yes, being literate is the proper use of grammar. Proper use of grammar includes, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.

I understand not everyone is in accelerated English III like I am, but I expect a certain amount of literacy.

You *should* be past fifth grade to be on the Internet, and by then you should know the basics.

Just because I correct you doesn't mean you're in trouble unless I correct a lot of your posts, then you're in trouble.
