Quote:
Location: Noe's secret meadow
Participants: Dyre, Felyse, Silkie and Noe

Finally, the day was here. After much debate, Noe had gotten around to asking Dyre out for a picnic. As a result she wanted to show him her secret meadow but then she had promised Felyse that she'd take him there as well. In order to kill two birds with one stone she offered a picnic to both, giving Dyre time to train her more and Felyse time to pick as many flowers as he needed for the wedding. The little byte, Silkie was also invited to as she adored both Clyte and Byte.

"Hmm? I think that's all of it." Going over the items for the trip one last time, Noe smiled to herself glad to have good company for a change. Now all she needed were the silly creatures to hurry up. "Felyse! Silkie we should start heading out..." She figured Dyre would either meet them there or follow her from the shadows, though she had hoped he'd walk with them since it was all part of the experience. Ah well if he showed up at all that was a miracle on its own.

Getting to see Noe's secret garden was making Felyse really excited, since he really wanted to be a flower 'girl' at the double wedding that was coming up. And how could he be a flower girl if he didn't have flowers? While he was exploring Myst's house a little he had discovered a big flower gathering basket that would be perfect for him to put all the pretty flowers he was going to gather in.

Hurrying over to Noe Felyse lifted his basket high, but holding it carefully so that it didn't hit Silkie who was in his customary place in his apron pouch, "I'm all ready to go!" he said cheerfully before glancing at the items Noe was bring, "Need any help with anything?" asked the helpful little clyte.

Silkie waved from his place in Felyse's apron pouch, "I can help with something small!" he asked, taking after Felyse in wanting to be helpful.

Noe checked over her things carefully for a moment. She had her bow and quiver of arrows secured to her back. No need for help with that, a proper hunter carried their own gear. A satchel rest at her side, housing smaller items like a switch blade, her needles and a vial of paralyzing oils which she coated her needles in for effect. Hmm? Maybe the paralyzing oils was not necessary but you never could be too careful. She would be mindful to keep them away from the tykes at least.

The picnic basket on the other hand was secured and ready to go. Plenty of treats and snacks, and a nice afternoon meal for everyone to enjoy. Sandwiches, cake slices, some pies, salad, macoroni (her favorite) and an assortment of other light meals had been carefully packed in the picnic basket. Fishing out two bars she gave one to Felyse keeping the other in her small pouch at her side. "You can nibble on these on our way. It's quite a hike so be sure to ask for a rest when your tired. I have plenty of water too so if you're thirsty let me know." She patted the cateen at her side smiling softly. "Alright. Seems we are ready to go. I'm sure Dyre will meet up with us later so lets get going."

And with that she led the two outside heading for the back wood area behind Hytech facilities.

It had once been a pride of his that he was attached to no one but the forest. His was a world of shadows, with only his bow as a companion. Hunting was his purpose in life; feeling the heartbeat of his victims before his arrow pierced them and stole their life. Nothing else mattered. But then he had gotten curious, slipping into another world so different from his own, and there he had allowed a small female to wrap her arms around him.

Truth be told, it was an impossible situation. One was not meant to skip between worlds and should not develop obsessively protective feelings over someone who not only wasn’t his own species but was from a different realm. But it had happened and he would have to face the fact that he could not keep up this game forever. Eventually he would have to return to his world for good, leaving Noe behind. He was not looking forward to that day.

Dyre cast all those rather annoying thoughts from his mind. There was no point thinking about it now. More important things were in order, such as training Noe and surviving a picnic. A picnic was not something he had ever attended before or even considered. It was not something he did. Well, there was a first for everything.

He shifted slightly, the shadows of the forest rippling across his fur and making him seem almost invisible. From his position he could see the approaching forms of Noe and her friend. Noe’s presence was like a comforting blanket across his shoulders. Even if she confused him to no end he still enjoyed being with her.

As they approached he stepped forward, revealing his position. He stood calmly beneath the trees shade, waiting from them to reach him. His stance was almost lazy, his tail curled and his eyelids lowered to give him a sleepy air. But not an insect moved without his knowing about it and the wind whispered every movement of the leaves.

Their walk was spent uneventfully. Noelani remaining silent while the Felyse and Silkie chattered away with one another. She smiled and laughed at how cute they were, both seemed eager to pick flowers for the wedding. She didn't know how it would turn out however, as the flowers would likely whither away and die long before the wedding. Maybe they could come back later to pick more, she had thought but was not the type to take from nature what was not needed.

With a sigh her mind drifted off to other things. Her eyes scanning the forest, noting the sights and sounds. A trickle of water from the brook a few yards away, the sound of birds chirping, she could hear them all and yet she was no where near as attuned to things as another certain hunter. It was his fault for not training her as promised. Still she could feel him despite all else. His location was always kept concealed that was something she had yet to learn to pinpoint. How did he do it?

Even now as her eyes scanned the trees and brush, she couldn't quite point him out but he was there. With a sigh she stopped in her tracks letting Silkie and Felyse continue forward a few steps. "Part of this is to enjoy company with those you care for, Dyre. It's aggravating when you hide from me like that. " She went silent sighing to herself. Wasn't it painful enough that he had to leave at some point, why couldn't he just participate like a normal person.

With another heavy sigh she continued walking placing a reasurring hand to Felyse's shoulder. "Do not worry, little one, he has a knack for being in the shadows. Lets continue we're almost there." Looking up again she gave a soft smile then looked to Felyse once more, "What kinds of flowers do you like, little one?"

Felyse was a tad disappointed that no help was needed, but smiled happily at the bars that Noe proffered, moving the basket slightly so that he was holding it with one hand to take the bar offered to him and put it in the basket to have and share with Silkie a little later. "How far is it?" he asked with excitement and curiosity, twitching an ear slightly as he followed along beside Noe.

As Felyse walked along chattering with Silkie, he took the bar out of the basket, breaking a piece off and giving it to Silkie before munching on it himself between talking. They were discussing what kinds and colors of flowers they should try to find when they get to the garden. Opinions on the matter differed slightly, but they were having fun talking about it. Another topic of interest to them was that since it was so far to Noe's secret garden, that maybe they should make a garden closer to home so they didn't have to go so far for flowers.

Blinking slightly as he felt Noe's hand on his shoulder and her words and looked around, "Who has a knack?" he asked with surprise, since he hadn't noticed anybody yet. When she changed the subject to flowers he smiled brightly and adding a little skip to his step, "All of them!"

"Not much father just down this path." Noe informed smiling lightly. She looked around trying to feel out the other but it was still something close to impossible for her. Maybe she wasn't properly trained or perhaps she would never be able to do something like that.

Looking to Felyse she smiled. "Ah you haven't met my friend yet. He's going to join us for a picnic." She said ruffling the Clyte's hair softly. They went up a small here clearing the trees and coming across a field of many flowers. Noe smiled looking at the sea of colors. She gave Felyse a wink and nodded her head. "Go ahead and take a look. I'm going to set up the picnic area." It wasn't a bad sight at all. Flowers spanned as far as the eyes could see well into the trees that were at the end of the meadow. So it wasn't really a garden but there were plenty of flowers to choose from.

It didnt' take long to set up the picnic. Spreading the blanket out for them to sit on, she set the basket down as well. Keeping it covered until it was time to eat she simply walked out into the meadow kneeling in the flowers. "These are where I usually get flowers for my hair." She said, "since you like all flowers, is there any one flower you like the most?"

It was hard to break a habit created over a lifetime; to remain a shadow. Of course he was here to enjoy the company of someone he cared for, or else he would not be here at all. Noe seemed to have a hard time understanding that, or maybe he just wasn’t doing enough to show he cared. Well, that was hardly his fault. She was after all the only living creature other than himself he’d ever given a damn about. He didn’t say a word as she continued on after berating him, simply began moving in his silent, unnoticed way, trailing behind the two, only half listening as they chatted amongst themselves.

He circled around the flower covered field, a prerequisite scout for danger. Not that he was worried for himself. He was more than capable of dealing with any problems... unless this world had gods he’d never heard of and they suddenly decided they didn’t like him. No, it was simply his overpowering need to make sure Noe was protected. He’d put an arrow between the eyes of anyone who posed even a minor threat to her wellbeing. Well, maybe he’d just threaten them. One had to be polite when in a world not their own. It wasn’t right to go around killing things; no matter how feral and dangerous was the place you had come from.

Which was another reason why he had to leave this place for good soon. If he could cross over to this world, what was stopping others like him, and even stronger, from following his path? Dyre could only shudder when he considered the God of Demons finding himself in a place where he wasn’t controlled his own domain and the rules that bound him from killing. An insane being that had turned torture into an art form, he would destroy everything in his path. Yes, sooner or later Dyre would have to leave here and make sure none of his own kind could ever find this place again.

The Dark Angelic returned his attention the field and the picnic now that he was satisfied that there wasn’t anything sinister around. For anybody that was watching he seemed to simply appear out of thin air before seating himself down on the blanket. While watching Noe he reached out casually for a little blue flower, twirling it in his claws with an air of absent thought. Dear Noe was no doubt going to twist his mind up completely by the end of this outing. Ah, how he adored her.

It was that usual warm feeling that went up her spine just before he showed up that alerted her to his presence. She turned in just enough time to see the blue flower before turning her attention to his face. "Ah... hey there phantom boy." She greeted, she eyed the flower then him again before turning to cover a blush before opening the basic. "Would you like a snack?" She held up a small candy bar wondering if he'd like it or now. "I made some apple pie, Ciaran had so many apples stashed away I figured he wouldn't mind if I made some pies." She smiled looking off into the distance enjoying to gentle breeze around them. Looking to Felyse and Silkie another blush crept along her cheeks at forgetting that the two had been sitting there. "Ah oh... this is my friends Felyse and Silkie. You guys this is my friend Dyre."

When they finally reached the flower field, Felyse stared in awe of the vast amounts of flowers, "Woow!" After setting down his flower basket near where Noe was setting up the picnic, he knelt down and brushed his hands lightly over the flowers, breathing in the scent of them. Lost in the flowers, he blinked and looked up when Noe spoke, thinking about the question before smilingly brightly at her, "I really like dwarf irises!" he said happily, "Which one do you like the most?"

Silkie leaned out of Felyse's apron reaching out to a flower, trying to get a closer look at it. Leaning a bit too far, he toppled out of the pouch and into the flowers, sneezing softly as he inhaled the flowers close up, "Help!" he called out from the flowers.

Quickly looking down Felyse held out his hands for Silkie to climb onto them, with a concerned warning to be careful lest he get lost in the flowers he let the little byte slide back into his pouch. Glancing back at Noe at the introduction he noticed her blushing, tilting his head with curiosity and smiling innocent, "Your cheeks red, Noe!" turning to Dyre he smiled warmly, "Nice to meet you Dyre!" he said cheerfully with an echoed greeting from Silkie and a small wave.

“Phantom boy?” Dyre repeated her words and gave a rumbling chuckle of amusement. Well, it wasn’t far from the truth. He continued to twirl the finger in his claw as he studied Noe’s face, wondering exactly what the sudden bit of colour in her cheeks was all about. Why was she so hard to figure out sometimes? It had been so much easier when she had been younger.

When she offered the candy bar he leaned forward, plucking it from her fingers and placing the flower in hers, transferring them neatly and then sitting back again to munch on his new bit of food.

He turned his red gaze on Felyse, looking the Clyte up and down, taking his time in coming to a decision about what to think of the new fellow. But eventually Dyre decided Felyse was innocent enough looking and seemed to be a good friend of Noe’s. “It’s nice to meet you too.” His returned greeting didn’t have a hint of the cheer that had been in Felyse’s, but it was genuine enough.

Noe's face only grew redder at Felyse innocent reply, "I'm just a bit warm" she offered ducking her head to keep it turned from Dyre until she was satisfied it wasn't as noticeable. Though when the candy bar and the flower were exchanged the red returned. Quickly she placed the flower in her lap turning away from Dyre with a huff. "Yes phantom boy... do you have a problem?" Though she didn't think he did and her words only held playfulness she had to do something. It didn't bode well to start acting like some damsel every time he popped up (which she couldn't help).

"Um.. Dyre... when do you want to start training?" She inquired still not trusting herself to look at him she fiddled with the picnic and other things to keep her eyes carefully averted. Why was it getting harder to talk to him? Blushing was something damsels did she was a hunter, she had no time to be blushing over the slightest bit of conversation. With a deep sigh she finally mustered enough strength to look him square in the eye but only found her cheeks reddening again, this in turn began to upset her.

Blinking as an after thought she remembered a question Felyse had asked not a moment ago. "Oh that's right. My favorite flowers are tiger lilies."

“Not at all.” Dyre replied back in a lazy sort of tone. He had finished off the candybar and he idly dusted off a crumb, wondering not for the first time how Noe managed to be so very confusing. He had known her most of his life, she couldn’t be this hard to understand. Certainly he’d never been in touch the way others acted but really, Noe should not be able to confuse him with her actions so easily. Lately he had certainly noticed an increase in this annoying sort of behaviour. Noe seemed flustered around him, her gaze never quite meeting his eyes. It was so... frustrating.

“And my favourite flower is the daisy. We can start now.” They may as well get started straight away, and then they could stop for lunch a little later. He rose in one swift fluid movement. His paw flexed slightly an in a brief flash of red his bow appeared in his grasp. “I want to see your stance Noe. Then we’ll check your aim. After that...” An arrow flashed into being in his free hand, and he twirled it. “We will test you in the hunt.”

Getting back to the basics was what they needed to smooth out the kinks. A hunter must hunt.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 26, 2009 3:43 pm

"Yes.. very well." She sighed standing to her feet. She gave Felyse and Silkie a warm smile ruffling the little Clyte's head as she stepped off. "Don't get out of sight you two. We'll have lunch in a bit so pick plenty of flowers ooh and if you find some tiger lillies can you pluck a few?" Momentary distract was a good means for her to regain her composure. Bending to collect her bow and quiver of arrows she moved over toward the Faekat nodding with a different expression on her features.

More serious and less fluster it seemed to melt away with ease. "Alright..." First her stance, it didn't bode well for a hunter's stance to have flaws. She quickly pulled an arrow from her quiver stringing it within the bow holding her stance for Dyre to inspect.

Ah, getting down to ‘business’ was a good way for them to both relax and time for Noe to get some control over her blushing. Dyre began to circle slowly around her, inspecting every line of her body as she stood waiting to release the bow. Her back was in the right position, bow string pulled back with just the right amount of strength, being held as it should. He circled again, nodding every now and then. If she’d gotten this wrong he’d have been not only disappointed with her but annoyed with himself for allowing her technique to fail.

He moved to stand beside her, his own bow flashing into existence. A second later an arrow had been launched, hitting a tree at the other side of the clearing with ‘thunk’. Dyre eyed the distance between his arrow and Noe. Too far away? Well, they’d see. “Hit my arrow.” He ordered. It took a strong on arm and a good aim to pull that off.
