Melanie was fidgeting. Huddled close to a park tree. The bark was rough yet comforting. She was so confused and upset about what was going on with her life. A tremor rolled through her, shaking her small and delicate form. It was so cold in the park. It was deserted, too. Everyone must be at home in the warmth. The thought made her shiver.
Melanie didn't know why she was here or how she got to this lonely park. But right now she needed time to think it over and sort out her feelings. Syntyche and Psi were both so special to her. She shook her head, knowing she couldn't have both. It was so quiet and this helped calm her a bit. But... something was wrong.... As if someone was watching her...

Psi walked down the sidewalk that led to the park slowly. He looked ahead. It seemed like no one was present at the park so far. That was good. Some peace and quiet would do him wonders. His gait was rather sluggish, for him that is. That was because he was feeling rather depressed. He knew that there was drama among Melanie, Syntyche, and him. He also knew that Melanie loved Syntyche as much or even more than him. Psi was about to just plop down where he was when he saw Melanie's figure a few feet away from him. Funny how he hadn't noticed her until now. So he merely stopped and looked at her, unsure of whether or not she would want his company. Then the rain started then, drizzling down on them slowly yet steadily. Great. More despair.

Melanie wasn't sure what was going on around her except for the dizzying feeling as the rain dripped down onto her. The tree covered her a little, but the rain matched her fur markings. She shivered and her teeth chattered, breaking the silence of the park's atmosphere. Was someone watching her? She couldn't think about it now. The dirt around her was slowly turning into mud. The sloshy, wet kind she would have to drag herself through to get out of the park. She felt like she could cry, but she didn't. She just bit down her lip, shivered, and tried to stop her teeth from clacking against each other.

Psi couldn't help it, watching her shivering like that. He had wanted to wait for her to notice him, but her comfort was much more important than that. Ignoring how his hair was partially in his eyes, he padded over to the tree Melanie was at and curled his tail around her slowly as not to frighten her. "Are you alright, Melanie?" He asked stroking her back with one of his paws.

Melanie felt the tail coming, but it still made her jump a little. "P-Psi!" She shivered from her cold and his warmth colliding. She couldn't help it anymore. She melted into him, clutching desperately at him. "I... I... No... But n-n-now... I'm f-fine..." She sighed quietly, trying to shove the shaking feeling away. The ache she had was gone now. But once he left it would resurface again until him or Synt came around. Melanie rubbed her head against his chest and tried to get warm and struggled to not have a meltdown.

Psi smiled at the way she reacted to him. He edged a little closer to her, as close as he dared to keep her warm and continued stroking her back. "I've missed you." He whispered. It was true, even when they were apart for mere hours his heart ached for her. It was a feeling he couldn't control. And yet, he wished that the feeling would leave, because what if she didn't feel the same way towards him?

Melanie nodded into his chest. "I-I missed... you too.." She scooted closer as well until she was right against him. She was blushing furiously, she realized. That didn't stop herself from shaking, even with her personal warmth right there with her. "I..." She took a breath. "I-" she broke off. She just knew he would say everything is okay and it isn't her fault, just like Synt said. She shook her head quickly, silently hoping the blush and heat in her face would go away. "I... I'm c-cold..."
Why couldn't she have them both? She cared to much to pick one right now. Melanie just curled closer and further into his warm chest.

Psi blushed lightly as she snuggled right next to him. This felt really good. He almost knew what she was going to say even though she never said it. He knew this was hard on her too. "Don't worry. You'll be warm soon." He said, trying to comfort her. He stopped rubbing her back and wrapped his tail around her to quicken the warming process. He looked out from under the tree. It was still raining, but it was a little more of a drizzle now. That was good at least.
Psi sighed quietly and looked away from her as he spoke. "You know, I don't mind if you pick Syntche over me." He whispered still looking away, fore if she saw his eyes she'd instantly know that he was bluffing. All in all he just wanted her to be happy. Even if it cut him out of the picture.

Melanie was dazed and cold. She was shivering but her face was on fire. Her gaze drifted to the drizzle outside the tree. It was like they were in their own little world where no one could harm them. She bit down on her lip- hard. If she didn't she knew she would've screamed. She couldn't imagine her life without him anymore and same went for Syntyche. She couldn't bear to hurt either one, but she knew on day she would.
Her lip was bleeding and Melanie tasted the blood. She released her lip and the blood dripped onto the soil beneath her. Staring at the darkened spots on the dirt, she wasn't fully realizing what was happening until she looked at the ground again. More spots, but a different color. As if the dirt was made wet- by her tears that wouldn't stop flowing.

It was quiet for a few moments. The silence felt like knives to Psi, but he would remain silent until she spoke. It was the right thing to do right? In the past, everything he did, he did with a certainty that it was right, but now he was starting to doubt himself more and more each day. He still gazed away, but then he looked down on the ground. There were patches of dark red and other shades on the ground.
Psi immediately looked back up to Melanie and saw that her lip was bleeding. Damn it. If only he knew how to work with first-aid. "Are you alright?" He asked as he pulled out some ointment from a compartment in his armor. He always kept that there, cause it had helped out quite a bit in the war.

Melanie blinked at the ground and then looked up at Psi, shaking as her lip bled. "I...." She didn't know what to say so she just nodded slowly. Her mouth hurt but it was starting to go numb with the cold weather and her open sore. Psi was so nice, but she was so.... weird. So freaky that she scared herself sometimes. Why did he have to love her?
Her paw slowly moved to her cut, getting dampened with blood in the process. Melanie looked at what he was pulling out of his armor. It seemed to be a first-aid of some kind. She felt so horrible about all this, especially her habit of biting her lip. She knew Psi disliked it, but she couldn't stop. It didn't even go through her brain first, it just happened.

Psi quickly opened the small bottle of ointment and cussed under his breath when he couldn't fit his paw into the bottle's small hole. Carefully he tipped the bottle slowly into his awaiting hand. Soon there was a decent amount of the ointment on his hand and he gently rubbed the medicine on Melanie's bleeding lip. Normally he would've just gotten a bandage to stop of the blood, but this injury was on the lip so it wouldn't be quite as simple.
Psi hesitantly put one paw on Melanie's paw that was at her lip to move it aside. "How's your lip feeling?" He asked as the bleeding stopped thanks to the ever helpful ointment. While waiting for her response he put the lid back on the small bottle and put it away in his armor again, hoping not to need it for a while.

Melanie watched him, cringing in fear of what lied ahead. The ointment hurt her lip, but she knew it was for the better. She put her paw on the ground and tried not to bite her lip again. He was upset and she could feel it. But she couldn't say sorry. Too much was happening.
Melanie blinked back some tears and looked at him. "I-It s-stings a l-little..." She tried not to bring her paw back up to her lip. If she touched it, no doubt would it hurt more. She breathed in his aroma in hope of calming herself. "I-I'm s-s-sorry Psi..."

Psi nodded. Don't worry. The pain will only be temporary. It should end soon and once it does your lip will be better." He said with as much emotion as he could muster. His heart however felt cold and somehwhat broken so the words hadn't contained as much emotion as he would've liked them to contain.
Psi forced a slight smile onto his lips as she spoke. "You have nothing to be sorry for Melanie. If anything this is my fault for not stopping you before you could injure yourself." He whispered before looking away. The rain had stopped for now, but who could really trust the skies. There was still a 50% chance of the rain resuming soon enough so it would be wisest to stay in the shelter of the tree for Melanie's sake.

Melanie frowned. Something was wrong and she couldn't take her mind off it. She was positive it was her fault whatever it was. Her mind wouldn't stop thinking about him long enough to focus fully on his words. "I-It's my fault... I... I know you don't like it," she murmured.
She twirled a bit of fur in her paw quietly. "W-What's wrong, Psi?" Her heart was sinking, thinking she made him upset. Her mind and heart couldn't stay on the same track.
