I'm part of the school debate club and one of the topics we are going to debate on is abortion. While I've got some strong arguments of my own, I like hearing other pro-life agruments from others. So give me your strongest pro-life arguments and maybe even some pro-choice arguments because you never know when someone from the opposite side is going to throw a curveball and knowing the arguments of both sides can be very beneficial.
Thank you!

I like to use dictionaries, medial dictionaries ,and research-like what a embryo and fetus really is, when the heart starts beating etc.... Not only is it fact but it gets people to really stop and think (plus you can't disprove fact).

The heartbeat can start about five weeks or so (might just be able to hear it on the ultra for a few more weeks), that helps to prove that it's living as many may disagree for some odd reason (I got that from mayo clinic).

The other side like you say it's the mothers body so it's her choice (the only problem with that is the developing human is just using her body (the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta which is attached to the uterus but in the end even though they depend on the mothers body to remove waste and get nourishment and oxygen, abortion is still taking the life of another human being-a developing human which is not an actual part of the mother's body).

Part of debating is using facts (helps make for a stronger argument) the other part is more of opinion and trying to prove the other side wrong and get people to agree with your side.

Dictionaries. Good idea!
Debating on abortion is hard, especially when your school contains a plethora of pro-choice baby haters and the school academia is far-left extermism.

This is what I say-
if your parents were pro-choice, you would not be here right now. and if they-you're one lucky son of a gun.
if that doesn't shake them, point out that YES-pro-choice is freedom of speech, which is provided by the first amendment. However, why dirty your hands with the blood of the innocent when you don't HAVE to.
Check out some of Jello Biafra's work-he's a stand up comedian that has some powerful things to say.

The fetus is biologically and scientifically a human being- Humanity starts when sperm meets egg, the genetic material intertwines, and cell division starts.

Some will say that this does not equate to personhood because it is not aware, but awareness would also cut out the mentally retarded, the elderly with dementia/alzheimers, toddlers and people who are asleep or in comas. If they offer that sleeping in temporary, so is the time in the womb.

The first amendment is freedom of speech. You don't get the freedom to kill or harm others with the freedom to express yourself. This is why murder cannot be called a free expression because it harms an individual who is not yourself. This is why abortion cannot be placed under freedom of expression because freedom of expression is not grounds to harm another.

A lot of pro-abortionists are going to throw this one at you: "What if the mother was raped, so it wasn't her decision to begin with? What if the mother's life is endangered by the pregnancy?" Make sure you know what to say.

Very true. And, if you do not support abortions in the case of rape, then you should make sure that you -do not- base your arguments on the idea that it is their fault they are pregnant to begin with. That can prevent the rape argument from even coming up in the first place.

Well, if you're lucky and the other side is religious, you can always go off of the logic that God (or whatever diety they worship like the Earth Mother or whatever) probably doesn't approve of needlessly slaughtering her youngest denizens.

The unborn is a human being, and human beings are people. Period. Justifying abortion by saying it's too young or undeveloped justifies any abuse for any reason! "Oh, their skin was too dark". "Oh, they were too old."

If you state the above, many pro-choicers will say "it doesn't matter if it is a person, it doesn't have the right to use the woman's body." Yes, but that's how we're supposed to come into this world; it's natural. If they try to say rape is natural, remind them that it is, in fact, NOT. Most animals have mating rituals that require the female's consent for mating. Even bugs.

They may also throw the rape excuse at you. Remind them that in our modern society, we do not punish children for the sins of their fathers. That's religious bigotry, which they will most likely be very against in the first place. The innocent child did not rape the woman; the man did. And the act of abortion is physically paramount to a second rape. Thirdly, abortion does not "unrape" the woman; the only thing abortion does for a raped woman is kill her baby.

the answer is why punish the child for the father's fault?
