Feather Reference
So quick to flee after their exchange of information. Surely there was a way to ensure what he had confided in her would remain hidden away from any other living soul... especially this bonded of hers. Unhinging his limbs from their folded position, he cantered along the branch he had been lounging upon until he was able to grasp hold of one of her tail feathers.

Phoreko...

And with a generous amount of force, he pulled a single plume from her bouquet. She'd be angry, he was well aware, but he did not care.

You'll do well to keep me out of any conversation... he said while lifting the feather for her to see.

Had circumstances shown themselves to be malicious in anyway, he would not refrain from plucking away at her until the once majestic beast was nothing more but a grotesque image of her former self. With that, he wound the feather about his tail, a deranged trophy, before leaping down to the palpable soil below.

User ImageFlakes of frozen dander had settled over the streets, leaving it a desolate, monochrome landscape. Despite its pristine appearance, something was out of place. Crimson flecks could be spotted over the blankets of ivory. Each seemed to wind into a type of trail that eventually lead to the source: a lone Winiko.

Phoreko continued to pad through the snow, his fur matted with packed snow and blood. He had just slain yet another Winiko and its bonded. What once thrilled him seemed to only leave a blasé taste on his palette. With his tongue lolling close to the ground, he paused for a moment: a twinkle had diverted his attention.

From across the street's expanse, Phoreko saw the gently illuminated building front of what appeared to be a shop. Disgust almost immediately permeated throughout him as he saw the many Winiko clambering about with their bonded in toe. How carefree... it was utterly nauseating.

... vulnerable prey...

Any other evening, the thought of a mass herd for slaughter would exhilarate him; however, the cold had seemed to have bitten deeper into his core. A flick of his tail brought a white light to view: the peacock feather he had retrieved from a chance encounter.

A sneer.

... sentimentality? he shook his head: No, a far more carnal of a sensation had nestled into the back of his mind and with that he bounded off toward a neighboring patch of woods. Here he would lay his head for the evening... away from the lights... away from the noise...

User ImageThe light flakes fell apon Arry. She ruffled her body to displace them. This demon had never experienced 'snow' befor. Arry strolled down the wooded path and watched the falling flakes dance off the light from the nearby town.

This night was full of happiness and cheer at her new found home. Her newly bonded was having a party. It wasn't the type of atmosphere she felt welcomed in tonight. She couldn't remember what it felt like to be happy or rather to accept being loved in some form or another. She tried to be happy with her newly bonded but Arry kept that feeling locked deep inside. Always rebounding to her past.

Arry quietly left the small group and made her way into the forest. Where now she contemplated on her new existance in this new world.

Having lept up into a sturdy oaken tree, Phoreko situated his paws beneath is ragged skull. A glazed expression settled over his emerald eyes as he peered into the hazy maw of the moon. The temperature was plummeting rapidly: the surface of his exposed skull would likely burn to the touch before the feeling of cold could be registered. 'Twas no matter... he endured far worst.

To and fro his tail lashed before his haunches began to go grow rigid. Amongst the brush and heavily packed snow, someone had begun to approach. Surely he had not been seen while tramping through the mortal-constructed habitat? Shifting silently atop of the branch, Phoreko slipped within the confines of the shadows so that he may discover who it was that was invading his territory.

No preparation could have readied him for the culprit: the ivory beast whose plumage was wound about his disheveled tail. In that instant he was bombarded with an exhilaration he had once only felt in the midst of a hunt.

There was no time to deliberate. No, there was no need. Phoreko's lumbering form managed to retreat down the length of the oaken pillar soundlessly, closing the distance between he and the lonesome Winiko. Several careful strides allowed him to brush his tail through the retracted wings of the beast.

I thought you had learned not to wander about alone...

Arry's spin shivered with his touch. She knew who it was in an instant.

Fancy meeting you here Phoreko...
She looked over at him and fanned her tail.

I guess sometimes you need to be alone. Arry moved her paw over the snow in light swirls and looked up. She blinked as the snow melted on her eyelashes and then look back to him noticing her feather.

Just back from a hunt I see?
She placed her paw on his blood covered pelt and swept the stained snow off lightly. The blood stuck to her white plummage like white on rice. She shivered as a light breeze swept through the trees.
I don't think I fancy this 'snow'. She ruffled once more and sat against the oak tree in attempt to shield herself.

His attempt at suppressing a snicker due to her reaction failed. Nodding as she spoke, Phoreko never let his gaze wander as she lifted away the soiled snow from his ragged coat.

Yes... another hunt...

The thought of its lack of satisfaction continued to gnaw at him: all the more reason to drop he, he thought. After all, the little nightingale had strayed from her nest for the evening. Thanks to this notion, Phoreko proceeded to stride beside her, yet insisted on remaining coy... for now. He wrapped his form about the opposite side of the trunk, glancing backward to see her shrink away from the falling snow.

You become accustomed to it after you've been around it long enough. he nodded slowly while winding his tongue about his forepaw, hiding it away from the merciless elements.

And if that doesn't work, there's always ways to keep warm.

Arry watched him proceed around the tree. She shifted her body so she was now leaning around the trunk to face him once more. She didn't feel comfortable letting him be back on to her. He was a unique demon that she didn't know if she should trust so soon.

What other ways would you suggest to keep warm Phoreko...She whispered shifting her wings to block the snow. Her scarf rippled from the light wind.

Several flakes of snow had clung to the crown of his skull, causing a quick shiver to shudder over him. Thankfully, the reflex knocked the frigid blanket off of him, allowing him to face Arry with an almost stern expression.

Well... I suppose it depends on how desperate you are in seeking warmth.

A twirl of his claw allowed for him to focus on choosing his words. This ever growing intensity continued to beat against his chest. What was it... surely he knew, surely he could decipher it.

A fire could always be built, but due to the state of the weather... he shook his head Dry tinder is almost out of the question.

Foolish youth would likely mistaken it for love, but he knew better. A fiendish glimmer seemed beam from the emerald surface of those distant spheres. No, much more primal than that. A shift of his weight and Phoreko lifted himself so that he may canter beside the ivory beast.

Than again... you're fortunate enough to have another nearby. Another that's warm.

A murmur was the best way to describe it as he sunk to meet her gaze. The lolling lash he had hidden away from the elements caressed at her cheek, steam billowing off it as a result of his breath.

I'll keep you warm...

Her heart rate quickened at what he said. A shock.

'You' would keep me warm? She was confused. Baffled. It was an action she never would have thought would come from him. She couldn't help but just stare at him wondering if he was up to something. She shifted herself closer to him cautiously but willingly for the warmth.

So vulnerable, so compliant. The same predicament as the horde occupying that filthy building; however, not even they could fill him with such elation. Gently he caressed her down-like face with the brittle, exposed surface of his own malformed maw. His eyes had narrowed into mere slivers of their former state.

Oh, I'll keep you warm...

Surely only a fellow telepath could register and savor the sensation of this murmur as he placed his paws on either side of her while pulling her upon back. Even he who had been bound by the most primal of urges could not be swayed to set aside his dominance. Once more he played his skull against her, devouring the scent of her fragrant hide.

I'll keep you warm...and you'll sing, my little nightingale.
