Hey! So I started chatting with our awesome Captain Star (Hydra-Star) and Kyros (Kyros_DeLove) about movies. A thought came to me while we were chatting and I thought "why not start a movie review area?" That's the reason for this thread!
My ratings are "unrated" (not seen) and stars 1-5: 1 - waste of money and time; do not see it! 2 - bearable. 3 - okay, I guess. needs help. 4 - good but wait for the video. 5 - go see it in theaters or buy it!
Others can use this rating scale or can make their own, posting it in their first post in here (for later reference).
Happy ratings! ~Margem
- Yes, you can chat about movies here. xD -

Our Raters and their Rating Scales Margem My ratings are "unrated" (not seen) and stars 1-5: 1 - waste of money and time; do not see it! 2 - bearable. 3 - okay, I guess. needs help. 4 - good but wait for the video. 5 - go see it in theaters or buy it!
Kyros_DeLove 1-5 1 - Don't bother. At all. Ever. It probably won't exist after it has its run in the cinema. 2 - Needs work...like...a lot. 3 - Not worth the money. Go catch it when it reruns on TV. 4 - Good work, nicely done; could use some tweaking, but worth the money. 5 - Awesome. Go see it...NOW.
Hydra-Star My rating scale is "unseen" and 1-10.
Unseen - I haven't seen this movie! I don't know anything about it! 1 - This is horrid. Never see it. 2 - Still horrible, but it had one or two redeeming qualities. 3 - Very bad. But if you're like me and you like all movies, even bad movies, you may want to see this anyway. Just because you can. 4 - Bad. But getting closer. 5 - Average. This is an okay movie. It's worth seeing. But it's not great and will probably never win any awards. 6 - Good. I liked this movie. It's worth seeing. 7 - Very good. You should definitely go see this. 8 - This is a great movie. I loved it. Go see now. 9 - Amazing! Go. See. NOW! I loved this movie. It was awesome. You must see it at this instant. 10 - O.O OMGTHISISTHEBESTMOVIEEVERGOSEENOWNOWNOW!!!!!

December 28, 2008 review: "The Spirit" Margem "The Spirit". Pretty good but a bit... umm... If you've seen "Sin City", it's kinda like that but mainly about a superhero guy (who doesn't know why he is the way he is) who has an obsession about killing a supervillian. That's pretty much it. 4/5 ~Margem Oh! The superhero also can receive wounds but doesn't die. Go figure.... Gotta hate those who are god-modding in role-plays or in movies. sweatdrop

Yays, Movie Review Thread!!!
Oh, god. I hate when protagonists are, like, supernaturally invulnerable. No fun. xp
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
It's nice and very well done. The actors deliver their roles in such a deep way. Totally deserves all those awards. I'm just an overly emotional person, but I ended up crying at the end. sweatdrop You'll really feel how Benjamin feels as he goes through his life as....misunderstood. Although the time frame is hard to understand (it's really hard to keep track of time), you kinda get the idea of when and where it's happening. Ahaha.
wahmbulance It kinda reminds me of Titanic, what with the old woman reminiscing and all. xd wahmbulance
5/5 So worth the ten dollars and three hours. xd

Hey Kyros! Thanks for stopping by but where's your rating scale, deary?
That was the other movie that I was debating on seeing but, since we went "late" to the theaters, we decided "The Spirit". I like to watch longer movies at home, too, considering the bathroom's nearby and there's the handy-dandy idea of the pause button. All hail the pause button! xd ~Margem

LOL Yes! That's so true! blaugh
I totally didn't know we were supposed to have our own rating scales. sweatdrop

xD That's one reason why it's nice to have it at home, though sometimes it costs more to rent a movie than it does to see it in theater..... sweatdrop
You don't have to have your own rating scale, but it's nice to see what your generalized rating scales can be. blaugh You know, some people go with the whole "thumb up / thumb down" rating versus " stars 1 - 5 " rating versus "recommended / not recommended" etc. whee ~Margem

Realllyyy? The place I rent my videos from, only costs $2 to rent, then you get $20 when you return it on time. blaugh Well, it's a small-town rental place any-hoo~

Ahahaha. We used to have a Blockbuster around here, but then the small movie rental business beat them out! xd
I think they're, like, $5? I dunno. @-@
Ok, ok. So, in the long run, is it more worth it to just wait for the DVD to come out and buy it? Or to go watch it when it's out in theaters?
(Ok, I think the answer's kinda obvious though. sweatdrop )

Woah! That's crazy!! Seriously?! Hahahhaa..... sucks to be you, used-to-be-Blockbuster-of-Kyros'-town! rofl
I personally think that it's best to see 'em via rental and, if they were good enough, you can buy 'em. But that's just me. ~Margem

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button My rating - 8/10
This is a really good movie. I was astounded by how good of a job they did on what was, quite frankly, something that must have been exceedingly hard to do. It was a really phenomenal job and I hope they get some nominations at the academy awards. They deserve it.
There was very little I didn't like about this movie. The entire movie packed an amazingly huge emotional punch until the very end, where it kinda simmered down. I just didn't feel as much. Also, I find it very hard to believe that (small spoiler) the daughter didn't know that her mother was a famous dancer/had never seen any pictures of her mother dancing when she was young when her mother ran a dance studio! It didn't really make sense.
