Yay! Star has joined us! biggrin

I like movie rental stores because then I can find movies that, like you said, "I never knew were out in theaters" or were never put into the theaters. Also, I love to watch movies that are older (like 60s and 70s or whatnot).

Lol I know! Watching/rewatching old movies is so much fun. That's awesome, Hydra! So you get to rent movies for free? ninja

Lol I agree with Hydra on the whole entire "daughter doesn't know mummy used to dance when she's running a dance studio." neutral A little farfetched. <.<"

Never Been Kissed (1999)
- Romance / Comedy
- Drew Barrymore, David Arquette

This is a great movie to watch and, guess what, it's already out on DVD! whee Go figure.

The main actors are Drew Barrymore and David Arquette. Barrymore plays the part of a newspaper reporter who returns to high school for an undercover report (her first report ever!). She is a pretty clumsy "17 year old" and her English teacher wonders, with her vocabulary, if she is in fact a 17 year old. ...can she keep her cover or no? Can she find a great story so she doesn't lose her job at the newspaper? You should watch this to find out!

As for me, I have seen this at least 3 times in my lifetime. A great movie to see (and a wonderful deal finding it in the "buy 2 for $10" bin at Walmart)!

5/5 - Go rent it! [ Suggested strongly to buy it! ] Definitely one to keep coming back to. XD

P.S. If you are one of those people who cries over romance movies, bring a box of kleenixes (especially for the ending). cry So beautiful!

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
- Romance
- Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan

This is a great romantic movie about how two complete strangers can meet and fall in love (or the potential to do so). Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) has just lost his wife and is a single parent to his son Jonah. They move out to Seattle just to change their life around. However, Jonah notices that Dad is not happy... So, what does the boy do? He calls up a radio show from Chicago (their late home) and gets dad to talk to a shrink. Next thing they know, there are thousands of women calling for Sam. Great great movie!

5/5 - Go see it via rental or borrow it from someone! Highly recommended. (Worth the money.)

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (2005)
- Sci-Fi, Animated, "Foreign", action

This is another movie in Margem's collection. It is produced by Square Enix (who does pretty great graphics for animated video/games). The main plot? Umm... Basically, it plays off of the Final Fantasy VII game (of which you can be told of through a clip called "Rememberance" or is it "Recollections"). Cloud Strife lost a friend a few years ago and now works as a delivery boy. However, a few bad guys are trying to resurrect his archenemy. Will his archenemy return? Does he have the strength to defeat him, again?
Can Cloud find forgiveness for not saving his friend? Can he find courage and strength again? And, of course: can Cloud (and his friends) save the world from complete destruction again?

4/5 - Great music, great 'life long questions', great graphics. Go see it! However, the English audio does not fit nicely with the words (on the lips) of the characters. It's not a huge difference but just enough to bug someone... But, there is Japanese and English audio as well as subtitles in Mandarin, French, Spanish, English, Japanese, Thai and other languages. biggrin

Pride and Prejudice (2005)
- Drama; Romance
- Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen

This is another version of the famous Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen. Comparing the movie to the book, it fits well with the book and is pretty much hand-in-hand with what happens (except a few skips in the timeline and location differences). [ SPEAKING IN CHURCH ABOUT FAMILY DISGRACE?! eek ]
Keira is a bit annoying like in Pirates of the Caribbean but not as bad as that Elizabeth. Go figure that in both Pride and Prejudice and in Pirates of the Caribbean she plays a character named Elizabeth, or "Lizzie" as Mr. Bennet (Elizabeth Bennet's father) calls her.
The question is this for you to ponder: who is the prideful one and who is the prejudiced one? Or they both prideful and prejudiced?!

3/5 - Nice movie, but read the book first!

Eragon (2006)
- Fantasy, Action, Adventure
- Ed Speleers, Jeremy Irons

Okay, so I tried to read this book in Spanish and I only finished the prologue and the first chapter. It was really difficult reading it because it seemed to be a Spain-Spanish versus my Mexican/Latin-Spanish, if you know what I mean. So, I review this movie as a "haven't read the book" person.
I personally thought it was a wonderful movie but I was mainly infatuated with Saphira (the dragon). Dragons rock! ... aside that, there were a few missing threads here and there... Why did he get the scar on his hand? Why did the egg hatch for him (Eragon)? What kind of creatures were these Orgels? ... I had to ask my sister for a bit of clarification throughout the movie just so I could understand it, more or less. (She read the whole book, in English, and is reading the third book Brisinger right now...)
Anywho.... I can't say much else because my words have been lost... Too many reviews within a few days? xD Maybe.
What I can say is that I love dragons but that is not the main reason why I would watch this movie again (if not just for clarification). smile It's definitely not a 'stand alone' kind of movie, unlike how the Lord of the Rings movies were.

3/5 - Good enough to watch (but probably shouldn't buy it without either: A. reading the book {or} B. having someone who DID read the book right next to you.

Actually, it's horrible after having read the book, because you can't help but notice how everything is different! Eragon's age is different even! In the book he's almost 16 (and turns 16 in the section of five or six chapters that they skipped) and in the movie he's almost 18, and we don't find out if he ever actually turns 18 in the movie. If they screwed that up, you can just imagine how skewed everything else was. Just my little non-review rant.

Valkyrie
My Rating: 9/10

I went into this movie already knowing a bit about it. It is, of course, about the last of the 15 known assassination attempts by Germans on Hitler, in this case by a group of high ranked German officers. 4 years ago I watched a small part of a special on the history channel about the same subject, so I remembered the basic plot, but the movie was still fascinating. The movie makers managed to make you feel close to the characters. We were able to understand their motives, their lives, and their sense of justice. The fact that is was based off of a true story, which very few people actually know here in America, just makes it all the more compelling. Normally, I must admit, I hate Tom Cruise, but he was great in this movie, as were all the other actors. This movie is not a feel-good movie. It will leave you feeling sad at the end. But it is a must-see.

The Waterhorse (2007)
- Fantasy
- Alex Etel

I bought this movie (without seeing it....) for about $5.70. xD I watched it, after buying it, with my family.

Anywho, this is about the Monster of Loch Ness. Is there really a monster in the lake of Ness in Scotland? It's possible. This movie takes this story and makes fantasy (or is it) to make it into "reality". The monster grows quickly and the movie follows it's life. There are a few crying points in the movie, but hey it works.

5/5 - Great to see! Highly recommended.

You'll find that I almost never give anything above an 8. 9/10 is pretty awesome.
