Which means that so far, it is: MALES : 5 FEMALES : 3 Which is pretty unusual but awesome for a yaoi guild. =D

Lord Burn Is the yaoi fandom predominantly female then? Yes, it is. Well, to be fair, the shounen-ai+yaoi combined fandom very much is. In more recent years, I've seen (or probably discovered) a lot more guys into it. Women were undoubtedly the original focus group though, to the extend that yaoi is sometimes defined as "male homoerotica done by women, for women". Luckily, nowadays it is not so much case anymore and we are more to share the same love (and lust) for the genre. ^_~ Whether it is a spike in overall public proportions, shifting in demograpic balance or largely depending on communities and fandoms, I cannot say. There is very interest talks going on about community sociology and demographics around the Web.

I think that my guys are getting into the fandom as the fandom moves more online. I imagine men buying shounen-ai of the internet is a far higher percentage than those in stores.
I know for one I'd probably never know I liked guys had I not had the internet, and I'd certainly never get something like shounen-ai or yaoi intentionally.
