Lightsaber sells at auction for £133,000

The original Lightsaber used by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars has been sold at auction for £133,000.
Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, put the item up for sale at the Hollywood auction house Profiles in History.
Wielded by Mark Hamill in Star Wars: a New Hope, the famous movie prop was the highlight of a recent Hollywood auction of over 500 items.
The winning bidder opted to remain anonymous, but will soon be known to his friends when he begs them to recreate famous scenes with him.
Other props in the sale which benefited from the force included an original section of the Death Star (£13,300) C-3PO's helmet (£66,444) and his hand (£20,000)
Non Star Wars related sale included: Arnold Schwarzenegger's signature T-800 Terminator costume from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (£13,310) and an original set of the Lord of the Rings trilogy signed by JRR Tolkien (£60,000)

. . . why would you spend so much money on something you couldn't really use?
neutral It would just kinda sit on a shelf, displayed for life. . .and an even bigger question. . . when said person who got it dies, how bad do you think the fight will be over the lightsaber will be?
xd

Lone S. Wolf . . . why would you spend so much money on something you couldn't really use? who would really wanna say they own something no one else will? not like anyone of the human race might have an ego. or maybe they are just die hard fans and this is like the autographed hockey jersey others collect. there's never really a direct reason why we do anything, it's just a matter what we as an individual would do in a situation. personally, i don't have that kinda money to spend on something like that, but i'd love to have it just to say i own a piece of sci fi history.

ah...but what is normal? Nothing more then a set of rules made by whatever culture you live in. And sometimes maybe within your own sub-cultures to feel normal. Normal is undefinable. 3nodding
