THIS RP IS BASED ON L.J.SMITH's NIGHTWORLD SERIES!
The royal families are the Vampire's Redferns, and The Witches Harmons.
Werewolves are considered lower class and Shapeshifters play the nuetral.
The Redferns and Harmons are distantly related due to two sisters Hellewise and Maya.
The story goes:
Hellewise and Maya were both born witches and were the leaders, but Maya wished to rule alone and wanted immortality. Hellewise, content with things as were, decided she would help her sister find immortality. After researching Hellewise was revolted by what they had found. They had to drink the blood of newborns, and then would have to drink blood everyday afterwards to sustain from aging. Maya went through with it behind Hellewise's back and followers went with her. Then a sort of civil war broke out where Hellewise decided that her and Maya would fight one on one. Ended up Hellewise drove back Maya and away from the coven, but at the cost of her own life. So the witch coven and all of Hellewise's daughters lived. Maya also bore a son named Red Fern and the curse of having to live of blood carried on through his line. And then To mend the fences between vampires and witches there was a marriage between a harmon and a redfern, so NOW all Redferns have a little witch in them, and vice versa... can get a little confusing, huh?
There are 2 different types of Vampire: Lamia and Made Vampires.
Lamia are born and age until the individual decides to stopand can also reproduce, Made-Vamps are created from humans and never age again and are unable to live usually are teenagers due to the fact that usually only children or teens can make the transformation.
Each Night World being has a symbol, or a black flower that symbolises them (basically they wear it somewhere on their person to identify themselves to each other):
Lamia: Black Iris
Made-Vampires: Black Rose
Witch: Black Dahlia
Werewolves: Black Foxglove
Shapeshifters: (Are considered a subset of Werewolves or the other way around)
Every Night World being has a weakness as well:
Vampires (in general): Wood
Werewolves: Silver
Witches: Iron
Shapeshifters: Steel
Shapeshifters had control of the world long before witches and vampires. Their leaders were known as "Dragons", beings that could change into the form of any animal. (Normally shapeshifters can only change into one pre-determined animal form). The witches rose to power and put the dragons to sleep, except for the smallest one. This one is the ancestor of the ruling house of shapeshifters. The descendants of this dragon have the ability to choose what animal they will become, but this choice is permanent.
There is also many groups of Night World Hunters that kill them. Usually called Vampire Hunters, but they also kill Werewolves as well. That are thought to be legend among the Night World.
So not only do you have the two waring Night World and Hunters, you have what they call Daybreakers. Which are the people who desire peace among everyone: Night World and Humans alike.
NOW!!
SOULMATES In the Night World, the soulmate principle is an old witch legend. But the soulmate principle seems to be making a return, this time linking humans with Night People. This principle is where once you touch your 'soulmate' an electrical pulse runs through both parties involved and an intense understanding and love envelopes them, basically in a completely irrational way. The 'soulmates' could not even like each other at first but once there is skin contact or casual embrace (ex: hand touching hand, hand touching face, hand slapping face, a friendly hug...I think you get the idea) the electrical wave runs through them. They can't kill each other, and they basically love each other desperately. They then become sort of telepathic with each other and grow to have an intimate understanding of one another....
So to attract the girls, there's a bit of Romance, and for everybody, there is plenty of fighting to keep things interesting

I was wondering if perhaps you could explain a bit more, to me, the differences between the Night World and the human one?
Okay, well, first thing to remember is that Night World is more like a secret society then an actual seperate entity. Night World people tend to asociate with other Night World creatures but because they do live among humans they try to blend in. Alot of the school aged creature personas go to school with humans. The worlds inter-mingle, really. Vampires feed on humans and then wipe their memory of the incident. And werewolves can't feed without completely destroying their prey. Night World also works under hiearchy: In order: Lamia, Made-Vamps, Witches, Shape shifters, Werewolves. And also have hiearchy within those casts; royal families really. But I digress, the biggest difference is the creatures themselves.
Thank you!
