Your director isn't childish, he's apathetic and not very leader-like. You don't know "Childish Director" until you've had mine. If someone makes fun of something about him, or does something he doesn't like when he's not looking, he'll stop ALL of class and just say, "WHO DID THAT? Someone answer me!" And if no one answers, he says, "Well if no one wants to answer I've got better things to do." Then he'll retreat into his office until someone, even those who aren't at fault, fesses up. Seriously, he's wasted ALL of class doing that baby crap. That's nearly two hours. neutral

He'd throw temper tantrums during practice that would last for like 20 minutes plus, and then get mad when we'd be behind schedule when learning drill. He'd get mad at us for not having the drill charts for the next movement when he hadn't even arranged them yet. And then when we swept superiors at state marching contest he was all like "Yeah, yeah. I knew you guys could do it. You never stopped your hard work." confused

I think I'd rather have a scapegoat director over one that enjoys wasting our time during whatever rehearsal it may be. He's wasted so much of our time once, he let us go to a competition and make fools out of ourselves. He doesn't even teach people how to march properly! He lets them walk all over the field, and when I yell at them for it, they give me crap and he does jack s**t. :

When our band director pulls crap like that, the drum majors step in and take over. The band director will yell and complain and act like a total a** and after practice, the drum majors have to apologize for him. It's like, hello! You have TEENAGERS who are more responsible than a GROWN MAN! One day he'll wake up and see how irresponsible he's been. And all he ever says when we get good scores is good job. And I mean, no party or anything. (previously we've gotten fair and poor and stuff so getting good scores is a big event) Our band director can play his trumpet really well and he'll sit there and tell the clairnets to work harder when we have a bunch of trumpet players who have to look up the Bb concert scale. He's too pushy with everyone but the trumpets... even when we need the trumpets the most. Because of that, every year the clarinets end up play trumpet parts. It's so retarded. sweatdrop

But I guess there's nothing we can do about them... except tell the admin about it (which I doubt anyone is willing to do).

This our band directors first year at my school, and I think he may have felt threatened by us a little bit, because he's so close to our age. In the beginning of marching season he was really immature. If you were to ask him a question, he'd come up with some childish, sarcastic response and never answer your question. He's gotten better though. Maybe it's hard coming to a new school, and a new state, I dont know, but thats no reason to act like a kid and be a smartmouth to his students. He's better now though.

Then again I dont know this man. I'm just saying what I think it might be. My band director on the other hand told us about a time when his band [George Rogers Clark-- for any of you people in KY that know the band I laugh, they sucked this year.] His band used to be so well known and in KY you got around by your rep. and not musicianship or skill... things such as that. But his director went into where everyone was changing set down the Grand Champion trophy and said "Here's your trophy that you don't deserve." and left the room. That's just one instance though. o.O idk if its the same situation though. So take it as you may.
