GREETING TO ALL: Now, I'm an eclectic wiccan, kitchen witch, astrologer, healer and dream analyst. So, today I just needed to RELAX! So I made myself an herbal tea. I'm with my parents today and I figured I'd need it. My mom asks to try some, now SHE is a catholic, and is completely stumped. I made the tea from scratch, and she doesn't seem to realize the CONVENTIALITY of cinnamon&nutmeg, a few minty herbs, lemon peel and honey. She's freaking out, like, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?!?!" and "WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS AGAINST ME?!?!" and I just simply say, "Mom, I made a relaxing tea for myself which you asked to try, with some conventional herbs such as honey and spices. Stop freaking out!" you know what? She just sits there and blinks, with a face like o_O; and I just start to laugh my a** off! Families are so amusing, they just don't get it... Haha, oh well. Merry Meet, Merry Welcome, and Merry Meet Again: <333 Kris ETA: I later added some chamomile, which made it 101% better. Far more relaxing! If you don't have chamomile, two crushed peppermint leaves and a VERY small dose of belladona (don't add to much, could make your stomach sick and could be fatal, like alchohol), that sould do the trick wink

That's pretty funny. My mom is a Catholic too, though she's non-practicing at the moment. So, your mother doesn't accept that you're a witch? My mom lets me do pretty much whatever I want. She believes that everyone has to find their own path.

Well, she's sort of ok with it, but my parents are trying to pressure me into going back to my "catholic ways" (which never existed, because I don't beleive that god exists) but she always freaks out and thinks I'm cursing her or something. She doesn't understand, I keep trying to explain it to her, but I just don't curse... An' it harm none do what ye wilt. She doesn't believe me though, she thinks I'm going to join some sort of freaky blood-sucking, sacrafice-doing cult or something. Oh, and she doesn't believe in magic! EGHK! I don't know what eghk means, but it's the frustrated sound that just escaped my lips, so it had to be typed. Oh well, It's not that bad. These things ussually end humorously rather than sadly, sometimes it goes the other way. Eh, what's a girl to do? It'll be fine. I'm glad that you're mother is so open-minded! pirate Seriously? A pirate icon? For the love of... Hahaha.

princess_liddia07 my famaly is catholic also but are pretty open minded ,especially since my mom probaly wouldent consider herbology witchcraft xp I would have to agree with your mom, but she probably means that in a different way than I do. I don't consider it witchcraft, rather, that it's a magical craft, and asometimes a theraputic and medical technology. I consider it to be first and foremost a magical craft because it originated in celtic/gailic traditions and is most often associated with Paganism (to those who are well educated enough and don't live by the bible...sorry, that was a tad bit rude, but it's just my opinion that biblical studies don't properly educate unless it is used only in theological debate and doesn't formulate your beliefs, no offence to any christian-witches out there!)

LMAO!!! That gave me the laugh I needed today. I feel so odd though, my whole family is Mormon. My parents don't do anything funny like that though. When I became wiccan my mom just thought it was a joke and laughed it off and made fun of me -.- (i.e. *pinch cheeks* "arn't you just an adorable little witch"). And she did somethings just to irritate me. I'd warn her 5, 3, 2 days before, and the day of an esbat or when I planned to do a ritual and asked her to be quiet just like she asks me to be when there are missionaries over or when she is praying. Does she listen? No -.- her and my family come downstairs and start watching tv. My cousin walked in on me once to ask if I had any red shirts (my alter was against the door! Luckily I stopped her before she could knock it over and start a fire). I tell her to come back later, that I'm performing an esbat, you know what she says? "Well hurry up I need a red shirt really bad!" Then once my mom got in my mini fridge and stole my basil leaves.... gah!
-.- my family is just annoyingly rude... and not funny in the slightest. I wish I had the funny family.... *sigh*

Electric Snowball Heh, well, my mom has actually become interested in what I do and has started buying up books. I wish my mom would do that like I said she just kinda treats it like a joke. Then takes it upon herself to tell everyone else. It made me really mad too cause I think she told my grandmother and she is the most devote Mormon I've ever known. I just kinda wanted to tell my family myself you know?

The unfortunate consequence to telling people something is they are free to tell others before you want them to. Sorry she's spreading information you don't want her to.

Well it's not that I didn't want my family to know it's just I wanted to tell them myself. I know she told them too cause my aunt got me tarot cards for my birthday and she's the gossip queen of the family so I know my grandma knows. She was the only one I was really worried about telling.

I was scared she would be angry with me or think I worship the devil and stuff like that. But she doesn't act like that. So either my mom didn't tell her, she doesn't believe my mom, or she is okay with it. She's trying to get me to join the church again but she always does that.

Electric Snowball Yikes. My grandma's all about god loves you... I don't think I'd want her to know I don't really believe in that god. God made man and women in his image... so god and goddess could technically mean god in the bible is both god and goddess. Know holy water? That's putting the same kind of faith as with an atheme, wand, etc. Just special names. It's just a different way of prayer. :3 Just gotta... I wouldn't say trick them. Just use their own termonology with them. Not fight fire with fire, that just makes a bigger burn. Fight it with what they know is their fire, and turn it into your water to... not quench it. Just settle it down and it's just a different way of going at it. Besides, we all know Jesus both existed, and befriended pagans and prostitutes, yes? I wouldn't say son of god or resurected, but s**t happened and you personally can't explain it. Proclaim christian-paganism, even if you don't mean you follow christ. It just softens them up for if you don't follow christ. Or you can say god is jesus and goddess is mary. Even if you don't really mean it. Just makes s**t easier on them.
