No, this doesn't have to do with my english teacher, and its not completely urgent. However, I do need advice on how to address this situation to my mom. No, its nothing bad. For about a year up until now, the main idea I've had in my mind for a job is that I want to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force. I already talked to my step dad about it, and he's completely fine with it, he actually supports me in doing it. My Mom on the other hand, I have no idea how she would react, she'd most likely be 100% against it and do all she could to prevent it from happening. My plan right now, is to go to 4 years of college, and get a bachelor's degree in something, and if I was somehow good enough to make college football then the NFL I wouldn't have to go into the Air Force, because the NFL is my number 1 dream. Back to the plan in the even that I don't make the NFL. Ok so I'd go on my mission of course, then finish college, then I'd join the Air Force as a Commisioned Officer after I went through the training program. Then I'd be a pilot and an officer. Military gets great benefits too, such as someone living on base gets a free house, and they get to customize colors and furniture. Also tax free shopping for groceries and other goods. The only problem is my eyesight, I have to wear contacts because my vision isn't terrible but its not great. So the problem would be that I would have to get corrective surgery for my eyes. Thats not too cheap and I don't know if my parents could pay that yet, My mom probably wouldn't want me to get it, unless she supported me joining the Air Force. So now that you know my "game plan" what should I do about my Mom? What should I say to her about it, and when?

Well, with your eye sight it might make it a little harder for you to actually be a pilot. I'd talk to someone at the Air Force academy and see what your chances are. Is pilot the only thing you'd want to be in the Air Force? You'd still be able to be a commissioned officer if you aren't able to be a pilot. If the eye issue won't be a problem, then I'd talk to your mom and tell her it's what you want to do. There's no point in hiding it. So tell her now rather than waiting until you asked her for a ride to the airport to be shipped off to OTS.

Well, it shouldn't be I don't think, its a very succesful surgery so it shouldn't be a problem. And I talked to my step dad about it, and he said he'd fully support my decision, and thinks it'd be a good career for me, i just don't know about my mom...

You might be able to ask your step dad if he'd talk to your mom about it.

I don't want to get him involved, because if she gets pissed about it, I want her pissed at me, not him. And she just might, she gets really mad, really easily, over small things.

your step-dad should definetly be there when you talk to her even if he doesn't say anything, and he probably shouldn't I know my mom gets mad when I talk to my dad about something before her.

Do you have a good bishop, home teacher, or someone who could give you some pointers and help you look at this situation from all angles? Someone who knows you and your family well, but would not interfer unless asked to?

We got a new bishop called a couple months ago, and we don't have a home teacher, so no not really.

I am sorry to hear that. Well, maybe do some online research and get some good, hard, dependable facts BOTH pro and con. Someone is more convincing when they seem to have done the legwork and gotten the information and tried to see whether it is still desireable and good for them. There might be a retired Air Force person in your stake that could tell you inside info too to make you more savvy for your own experience.
