I have no idea why, but my English teacher hates me. Either that or she's completely blind, or naturally rude, or mean. One of those. Anyway, she grades all my papers harder than other peoples, she rarely calls on me in class, for example, she'll ask a question, I'll be the first to raise my hand, then she picks like 10 people to share their answers, then moves on, with my hand in the air the whole time. Then she does it again. She'll mark something incorrect on one of my quizes but the same thing correct on someone else's. Any ideas on how to get on her good side? without being a total brown noser?

I suggest you talk to your guidance counselor. Show him or her the tests in question. Your teacher's behavior is unprofessional and your guidance counselor can help you deal with it. Either they can help you start whatever official complaints need filed or they can offer guidance on how to get along with this teacher.

As for what you can do on your own, do you know anything you might be doing to bother her? Acting like a know-it-all, even if you're not doing it on purpose? (I once corrected my teacher mid-lecture because he said "scarab" instead of "scabard." I'm just he just loved that, but I blurted it out before I'd even realized it.)

I don't think I do anything to make her angry... I don't talk much, and I would show the tests to my counselor except my teacher takes em back and we never see em again, probably so we can't show our counselor them... I'm thinking that I might request a transfer to a different teachers class for the 2nd semester.

I don't know about yours, but our guidance counselers don't do very much except mess up our schedules. However when you talk to your guidance counseler tell him/her that yuo can prove what you are talking about if you could just get one of your tests and a test from someone else in the class (with their permission of course) guidance counselers are supposed to be able to pull any test or quiz you take and look at it, even if the teacher doesn't give it back.

My second daughter had this problem with a math teacher in High School and I am afraid I told her it was all in her head - and then one day we went to school together to get some homework from all of her teachers (after she had missed a long period of school because of an auto accident) because this particular teacher had been complaining that my daughter never turned her papers in even after I had sat down with her to help her do them and make sure they were correct.
My daughter was just a little bit ahead of me because I had stopped to talk to another teacher on my way in and heard this "wonderul teacher"(what the school counselor had called her despite my complaints) use foul language towards her and as soon as she saw me walk in she started saying how much she just loved my daughter and she thought we might be able to get this homework situation woked out! Bull! But the counselor could do nothing and the Vice Principal pulled her out of that class immediately and got her into another teacher. There are LOUSY teachers out there, but because of the union they can not be fired. I suggest you transfer, personally.

I talked to my counselor and she said that she thinks I should just stick with it. I don't know if she is liking me more or what but she actually called on me today in class! Probably just trying to cover up the hate. So, I've decided, that just to spite that jerk of a teacher, I'm gonna stick with the class, and show her up by getting a B or better in her class! I know its not good to do things just in spite, but this is personal, and there is only so much she can do to bring my grades down.

Jesus said to "turn the other cheek" and it sounds like you are acting on some good advice if you can do that -- the still, small voice can be an awesome ally and advice giver -- don't count out that source for help! Good luck!

looks like a lot of counselers are like mine. I wish you luck, its hard to battle it out with teachers. You give it all and show her that just because she doesn't like you doesn't mean you're going to give up.

besides now you have an outlet where you can rant all you want.

Thank you, and I definitely will and do turn the other cheek, the whole me trying to spite her thing, is because I want to show her that no matter what she does, she can't keep me from getting a good grade in her class.
