Caramelized Bananas
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. dark brown sugar
4 firm bananas
Juice of 1 lemon
1. Cut butter into bits. Place the butter and brown sugar in a shallow glass plate or casserole and microwave on High for one minute.
2. Peel bananas and cut on the diagonal into 1/4 inch slices. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
3. Stir the sugar mixture, add the bananas and stir to coat each slice. Cook for one minute and forty-five seconds more on High. Stir again and spoon into dessert dishes.
Top with frozen yogurt or ice cream and sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired. Makes 4 to 8 servings.
Other Facts
This isn't the traditional Aussie (Australian) way of cooking them but it still works quite well and it's very tasty. The traditional way was to throw bananas onto the barbecue and let the natural sugar of the banana carmelize.
