It's definitely not going to be a car wreck. In fact, it doesn't even seem to be like a remake; It's just another teen age kill fest for Jason, which is just what the doctor ordered.

Quote: which is just what the doctor ordered. Hardly. Every other "horror movie" that comes out anymore is a teenager "killfest". If Halloween can be remade without any hitches, I'm sure Friday The 13th can as well.

I'm not too thrilled about it. Then again, I'm not really a fan of the Friday the 13th series in general, including the original.

It's just what the doctored ordered for the series...We haven't seen Jason go back to the basics in a long time...In F vs. J, teenagers died, but that wasn't the focus of the film. Jason X was...Something else, as well as was Jason Goes To Hell...Since Part 8, we really haven't seen Jason just be himself without a gimmick, and now this movie will return to a more glorious time...Just what the doctor ordered. Well, technically even Part 8 had a gimmick, so let's go all the way back to Part 7, shall we? On your other query, I could care less about other teenage kill fests.

I hardly see it as a gimmick; it's the whole basis of the film. The other movies had gimmicks because it derived from the basis. Also, have I not made myself clear on the fact that we haven't seen this so called "gimmick" since, what, the late 80's? (For this particular series, that is; All others can be tossed aside.) Which is why it will be a nostalgic return of which, yes, I'm going to say it again, just what the doctor ordered...Not to mention the fact that everywhere I go all I hear is excited anticipation of this re-delving into the Jason Teenage Kill Fest Basis. This movie will kick a**, whether prescript ed or not anyways, so...

It's not a so-called gimmick. That's precisely what it is. Just as the dream killing is the Nightmare on Elm Street film series' gimmick, and the use of the Lemarchand Configuration is for the Hellraiser film series.

Those weren't gimmicks either! Jeez! Does every single movie out there have to have some basic equal concept in which if any derivations occur, it's considered a gimmick? Meaning, is every movie out there a, let's say, a romance story where man meets girl, man falls in love with girl, man marries girl type of movie? And then add in a third wheel, it's considered a gimmick? No, that's just the whole basis of the film. As if A Nightmare on Elm Street was deriving from what, the Slasher genre? Who says that a certain genre has to have one underlining concept? Those movies didn't have gimmicks; a gimmick is if it derives from the original concept, and if I'm right, A Nightmare on Elm Street was an, eh hem, original concept. Hellraiser too. Freddy fighting Jason, now that was a gimmick. Original, true. But involving two stories whose original concept didn't involve fighting each other. Hence, a gimmick.

By definition: a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries.
Yes. They all have gimmicks of their own. No matter how large or small. Oddly enough, after about the 4th film Hellraiser completely dropped their gimmick and made the series an unoriginal and often ridiculous set of films.
The concept itself, deformed kid, murdered out of ignorance, a reverence for his mother which steps over the bounds, coming back to life to punish the guilty and wreak his revenge. That is all original. However, coming back and mindlessly killing teens is a gimmick to which the series has never left. And you can’t really blame them. I mean look at Hellraiser, they took away the having to be summoned element, the element where Pinhead wasn’t mindlessly killing, and the series turned to s**t.

the remakes or made into personal storys such as before they were murderers doesn't really interest me I watched the film and didn't find anything that great about it to me what it reminds me of (sorry to get otaku on everyone but..) when there's a anime that people like they often make there own fan comics on how they'd like to see the character or if they want to change the ending because they werent satisfied with it. Kinda reminds me of those sort of things when others remake the classics.
Thats pretty much all i have to say on that.
