Well, my fellow Americans, I believe this topic must be made. How do you all feel about the new elect?
As always, opinion thread is opinion. No fighting, no flaming, no hard feelings. Just discussion.
@Non Americans: I'm interested to hear your opinions as well. Different perspectives are always good.

We're all doomed! doomed!
Really we were screwed either way, no matter if Obama won or McCain, though I felt McCain was worse, only by a little though.

Warrior of Metal And why, specifically, do you guys think that? Well I'm lazy at the moment and go with the easy answer, I don't want another republican president. And I don't salute the flag either. I lost my faith in the U.S. many years ago.

My Hollow Yeah, I really want a president who refuses to salute our flag. uh, hollow... that was a lie spread by one of the workers in either the mccain or hillary campaign (i forget which), much like the lie spread by the hillary employee that obama had terrorist ties. my opinions: big government is bad, small government is good, all the choices (even third party candidates) were bad.

Rotting Gnarl They all sucked. That's why I wrote in Stephen Colbert. ninja You can.... write in your own candidates? Meaning - theoretically speaking a person who did not register to be a candidate can win the election?

I fully beileve theat in spite of gis rather green senatorship and thus slim voting record that Obama is quite capable of being the unifying force that this country and its allies so desperately need. I am nervous in light of his being somewhat of a wild card due to his thin voting record of course, but he has already shown himself to be a force that can win people, and a very very capable leader. look after all, at what he managed to do with a publicly funded campaign and until 3 years ago totally unknown candidate.

I hated both like most of you. I just hope he does not screw this country up too much before the next election.

There's actually a practice in my school during our "mock elections" that when you don't know who to vote for or don't care, you vote for Mickey Mouse. He's won every year. rofl

The last nail in the coffin for McCain, for me, was his nomination of Alaskan Barbie as his running mate. No, just...no. I like McCain, and had his party not completely diluted his history of independent voting in the Senate, I may well have voted for him. But Senator McCain and candidate McCain were not the same person.
As for Obama, I'm too much of a cynic to jump on the hope n' change bandwagon. I don't envy the guy--he's got a hell of a lot on his plate for his next 4 years. He's proven to be a charismatic, strong orator, but I still can't make any projections at this point about how he'll govern.
Ultimately, we'll just have to see.
