Yes it could start on fire if someone smokes a concecutive of, like, 7 or more bowls in a row... but I have thought of that one... and im talking more about long term side effects... like cancer...

Wood pipes are used all the time -- just think of pipe tobacco. ^_~
But, since you made it yourself, I should ask you this: what kind of wood did you use?
The thing is, some kinds of wood are harder than others -- which means they don't burn easily. Other kinds -- say, balsa wood, for example -- wouldn't stand up too well. Even more important, though, is to remember that trees are herbs, too -- there are some kinds of trees that, if you use the wood to smoke from, very well might not be too good for you! sweatdrop

But Im pretty sure that it was either pine or maple... both soft woods I think, but not increadebly unreliable... I know Oak would probly be best but thats my next project... wink

Hm... I did a little surfing around; it seems that briar is regarded as the best wood for making pipes out of... cherry was mentioned, ash... in the comments here there's some back-and-forth about elder, which is poisonous to eat but a couple people mentioned that it's fine as a pipe. Personally, I'd pass on using a toxic plant, but that's just because I'd probably start second-guessing and freaking out. o_O;
Either pine or maple, though, you say? *blinkblink* Er... smell it. lol No, really -- you should be able to smell the difference, unless maybe it's really old wood. ^_~ I'm sure they'd both be perfectly safe, though -- maple might be better, since pine sap is so tarry, but I'm no expert on pipes!

Yea I just upped and used it the other day, I didn't die so Its good, but one problem I had was I inhailed some of the ashes, If anyone knows a good way to make a filter of some type... I thought of some steel wool shoved into the stem, but I know that could start on fire... crying *bad*

Actually, you can get little screens at the hardware store -- they're in the plumbing section (seeing as how they're actually for faucets), and you just stick one in the bottom of the bowl -- and voilĂ !

That's a thing of beauty. Can't help but chuckle about the Jehova fish, though... just keep Psalms 104:14 in mind when you use it!
