It might just be me... But my new version of Final Fantasy VII is different from the old version I had before I moved, and possibly from anyone elses...
For instance, in the Chocobo stables, before I was allowed to only capture 6 Chocobo's and place 4 in a holding pen and now it's reversed. So now I can only capture 4 and pen 6...
Then with the Materia and Ultimate weapons, my Materia growth is slightly altered. So, I had just gotten the Final Attack Materia, but can only master it with all the other materia already mastered in the remaining slots. It doesn't say whether the growth would be altered on the weapon, but it does on the armour. Which I find strange. Has anyone else run into this? or only me?

Maybe your new version was under "Greatest Hits." I think I heard from other players that there are some slight changes compared to the first release in 1997. I don't know for sure. (*shrugs*)

By any chance, do you mean the International version?

Both versions were Greatest Hits... Though, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I had bought the last copy available in Anchorage, Ak when I was 14... And this new copy I just got last year, though I don't know how old it is... Could that have something to do with it? It could be a possibility...

I don't believe there are different versions. I've played at least 10 different copies of the game and all of them have been the same in every aspect. Aside from two being on the PC.

I've heard stories that there were subtle differences between the Greatest Hits and original release versions of several games, but nothing with Final Fantasy VII. I DO know that the Playstation version differs more noticeably from the PC version, particularly the script changes (more of Cid's text is censored, and grammatical errors are remedied) and some glitches (Vincent doing what appears to be yoga at Aerith's death scene). Nothing about the core gameplay, though.
I have always been able to have six chocobos in the holding pen, and that is from playing the original PSX version. You may have misremembered that.
As for the Ultimate Weapons, I thought materia wasn't supposed to grow in them at all if they were equipped in the weapon's slots. That was supposed to be one of the catches about using an Ultimate Weapon for a character in the game.

The Ultimate Weapons (Aside from Aeris' Princess Rod) are all unequipped for materia growth. It's a sacrifice that must be made if you are to use the power of the weapons.

I don't know anything about different versions (since I have the Greatest hits version) but my brother claim he seen things that happen in his saved files game of the same game disk. That I NEVER gotten from the 15 times I've played it. Like extra cut scenes special chocobo blah blah....I'm not sure if he's pulling my leg or not half the time since I only witness one of these fantastic phemoma he keeps mentioning.

Yes, he is pulling your leg. There is no special chocobo, and the only 'extra cutscenes' anyone can get. Anything other than this would have to have been gotten via GameShark. As mentioned many times before, there are 3 overall versions. Original, Greatest Hits, and PC. The differences between these games are, as Ushigami said, very subtle and hardly noticable. However, there are no differences as your brother has mentioned.
