A new DS was announced. It looks pretty much the same, but with new features. It's not supposed to be released in the US until 2009, but I think I might be getting one of these. 1up has some good information.Sorry if this is old news-it's new to me.

I first heard about DSi about a week ago. No more backwards capatability is kinda sad, but all the new features to pump the DS up to being a media handheld like the PSP while adding in some Wii-like features sounds pretty cool.
I'm not sure if I'd get it. I might because of all the cool new upgrades it will have, but I'm not sure yet. Heck, I didn't upgrade to the DS Lite. I have my original DS, I like the original DS, I have no reason to upgrade to DS Lite.
The only problem for me however is that around here, I can't find the original DS accessories, so stuff like the DS Lite stylus and such won't fit in my system's stylus storage compartment (the DS Lite stylus is quite a bit bigger than the original DS stylus).

I never got a DS Lite either. My regular DS never quit working, so I that's why I never bothered to get a Lite. I have actually been thinking about getting one, but now that I know the DSi is coming (sometime), I think I'll just wait and get one of those. I hardly play Advance games anymore, so the compatibility doesn't really bother me, and I have still my SP. Plus, I'll probably keep my DS, even if I get a DSi.

I heard about the DSi through a Podcast. Just when you think you finally are up-to-date with technology... BAM! One new DS. But I learned the reason why Nintendo is realeasing it. Japan. DS sales are finally starting to drop in Japan. I'm not kidding. So they realease a new DS. Oh yeah, DS sales are storng in North America so Japan will get it first.

ehhh, i didn't upgrade eithr and i want to, but i might just get one of these instead. maybe. but since its gonna be incapatible with other ds cartriges(so says wikipedia, but photos of it say otherwise cause they have a slot for it. dummy wikipedia), i might not... i like the camera idea. pretty freakin' cool, but... i'll miss being able to play gb games on it too. it seems pretty coo, so i might keep my old one and get that one too. i dunno. i still have to read all about it anyways, i really want one now. it seems sooo cool.

I'm okay with it not playing Gameboy Advance cartridges, I sold all mine anyway... But if it isn't REALLY isn't going to be able to use older DS/DS Lite cartridges, I probably won't get it. Sadly, I have only been impressed with a few handheld games for Nintendo. It's all going to Real adults or Real young children.
