This time as he was going through Pineport, Lyrus paid much more attention to the details of the city. He wasn't in a hurry to get to the lab this time, so he could go at his own pace. His grandfather had told him stories of how beautiful Pineport city was. He hadn't be exaggerating. Of course, Lyrus had seen more beautiful cities, but Pineport was up there with the best.

Mudkip, too, was in awe at the city. How had humans built those buildings so high?.. He had wiggled free of Lyrus' grasp, and was now tottering along next to his trainer. He always made sure to look back to see if his good pal Charmander and his trainer were still behind them.

Lyrus looked back at Kabuki. "I need to find the Pokémart again," Lyrus said, "do you need anything there?"

Carmine trudged through Pineport, staring dejectedly at her solitary Pokéball. Weren't they supposed to become friends as soon they met? With a sigh, she snapped the Pokéball back on her belt and looked around at the city before her.

Pineport was swarming with other new trainers either heading to or heading away from the Professor's Lab. Boys and girls alike were pushing and shoving as they tried to reach their intended destination.

Among the mass of amateur trainers was the steady stream headed to Route 1. Carmine wouldn't be able to catch any Pokémon if Cyndaquil wouldn't listen to her. She headed to a less crowded part of town and threw her Pokéball.

"Go Cyndaquil!" This time, the Pokéball opened, releasing a bright flash of light. As the ball returned to Carmine's hand, Cyndaquil appeared.

Squatting so that she was eye to eye with the Pokémon, Carmine said with a smile on her face, "Hi, since I didn't get the chance to introduce myself earlier, I'm Carmine, your new trainer."

Cyndaquil looked up warily at the girl but carefully responded, "Cyndaquil." The trainer stood up.

"Good. I'm sure we'll be best of friends," Carmine said as Cyndaquil simply rolled his eyes, "Now let's find the Pokémart. I'm not that confident we'll be okay with only two Potions on me!", she laughed.

Cyndaquil jumped onto Carmine's right shoulder and pointed to the far left. "Cynda!" She turned to see the trademark blue roof of the Pokémart just up ahead.

"Thanks, Cyndaquil." After some agile navigating, Carmine and Cyndaquil finally made it to the shop and entered through the automatic doors.

Whoa! Pineport City was amazing! Finally, a chance to see some sights without running around getting lost all about. The purple-haired girl had her head tilted back, but soon remembered that Charmander was on top of her head. She could feel that he was doing his best to hold on and scan their surroundings at the same time. She was only brought out of this line of thinking by Lyrus’s voice.
"Pokémart? " she echoed, thinking about it now. Hmm…Did she need anything? Uh…Oh yeah! Her mom had told her to stock up on a bit more Potions. After all, her mother didn’t want her daughter’s Pokémon to faint on their way to wherever. "Oh! My mom told me to stock up on a few Potions and an Antidote or two. She just wants to make sure that I have enough supplies and stuff on my journey. She always gives me a ‘be prepared’ speech."

The small red Pokémon on top of the girl’s head had now settled himself back in his original position. He too was taking in the sights of the big world. After all, these were his firsts. But the world was so big, he wondered if he’d ever see it all. His eyes then moved down a bit and spotted his good, though fairly new friend, Mudkip. It was still a bit odd to see how fast the two became friends, but it was as if they were oblivious to this factor. Oh well…

A cool blast of air conditioning hit Carmine as soon as the glass doors of the Pokémart eased shut behind her.

"Ah, this is nice~," Carmine exclaimed, "How about you, Cyndaquil?"

"Quil-quil!" The grinning Pokémon replied.

The Pokémart had racks full of various items every trainer needed for their journey: Potions, Pokéballs, Antidotes, etc. To the left, there was a glass counter with a smiling shopkeeper standing on the other side. Lying on that same counter was a price sheet stating all of the possible items you could buy.

Unzipping her pouch, Carmine took out her wallet and counted out her money. Hmm, $3000...

Walking up to several of the racks, Carmine gathered the items she needed and went to the counter.

"I'd like to have three Potions and two Antidotes please."

The shopkeeper took the girl's items, checking the price tags on each. He typed the prices in on the cash register, hitting the button to finalize the deal.

"That will be $1400, please," he said, smiling politely.

Lyrus chuckled. "I hate that speech," He said, picking up Mudkip. He didn't want him running amok in the store. "I need a few things, too."

He stepped inside the store, noticing a black-haired girl buying some things. Antidotes.. Do I need any of those yet?.. He thought for a moment. His grandfather hadn't told him what pokémon resided in the Hantou region, but he assumed there wouldn't be any poisonous or poison-type pokémon this early.

He shuffled over to a shelf with Pokéballs, scooping up three. He already had five, but you never know if you'll see a rare pokémon out of place. He picked up two potions as well. He walked over to the cashier, standing in line behind the girl.

Mudkip, squished by the things in Lyrus' arms, wriggled free of his trainer's grip. He tottered around the store, examining each shelf he passed by. "Kabuki, will you grab him?" Lyrus asked, picking up a pokéball that had been dislodged during Mudkip's escape.

Carmine looked questioningly at the shopkeeper. That wasn't the total she thought it would be. She decided to redo her calculations.

"Are you sure? Let's see... Potions are $300 each, and Antidotes are $100 each... I bought three Potions and two Antidotes... Shouldn't it be $1100?"

The shopkeeper, once again, examined the items, then looked at the price he rang up. He laughed heartily, deleting the final price and retyping it.

"My mistake, and my apologies," He said, "$1100 please."

After assuring the man that it was okay, Carmine counted out the bills and placed the correct amount onto the counter. Slipping the purchased items into her pouch, she left the Pokémart with Cyndaquil in her arms.

"Hmm, do you think I bought enough Potions?" Carmine wondered. Cyndaquil shrugged. He had no idea what this so-called "Potion" was. Something to help him, perhaps? It wouldn't matter any way. No Pokémon would stand a chance against him, but until then, a nap would be nice.

"...Cyndaquil?" The trainer repeated. Looking down into her arms, she noticed the fire Pokémon taking yet another nap. With an exasperated sigh, she muttered, "Oh, you have got to be kidding me. ...Oh well, I'll wake him up later."

Stepping into the stream of trainers, Carmine headed on to Route 1 with Cyndaquil in tow.

"Hmm.. What should we get" Jessica had finally made it to the Pokémart, Pikachu's weren't made to run long distances, well this one wasn't anyway.
It.. She still looked pretty upset about the gender confusion, at least it was easy to read Pikachu's expressions.
As the automatic doors opened Jessica stopped yet again to let the Pikachu go through, there were other trainers all coming up to the Pokémart as well, but Jessica didn't want to risk her Pikachu getting squashed by the shop doors.

Not sure what to get Jessica just did as a boy and girl in front of her had done without bothering to look at how much money she had, she should have enough anyway, she could start bringing in the money when she met some trainers she could trash; she got a Pokéball, two Antidotes and a Potion, that should just about do it anyway.
Getting in line just as a dark haired girl left, she stood behind a boy in the line as he moved up to the counter.

Pikachu was even more scared suddenly it had gotten cold and the floor was some-what slippery, she quickly went up to her trainer legs, well she thought it was her trainer legs anyway.

Kabuki had followed the boy into the Pokémart, glancing around for what she needed. Wasn’t too hard since the aisles were labeled. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a dark haired girl purchasing some supplies as well. And in her arms, a Cyndaquil? She must’ve just gone to the Pokémon Laboratory as well…Strange how the purple haired girl hadn’t noticed her before hand. Then again, Kabuki did, at times, get easily distracted. Like now. Bah, she needed to get her things together before her mind wandered anywhere else.
So, Kabuki was able to grab up 2 Antidotes and 1 Potion before she heard Lyrus calling her name. It was then she spotted Mudkip trotting along. Well…her own arms were full at the moment with her own supplies so…Ah ha! Charmander!

"Hey, Charmander?" she said to the Pokémon settled right on top her head. She felt him move a bit and figured that she had his attention. "Do me a favor and keep and eye on Mudkip, okay? I’d do it myself, but my arms are full right now. Just make sure that you two don’t cause any trouble alright?"

Charmader listened to his trainer’s words and understood, sort of. He knew enough to get by. So, he jumped from the purple haired girl’s hat onto the floor, landing on all fours. He then stood up and two feet and walked by Mudkip, his own gaze moving to where the other Pokémon’s was. Huh, strange how he hadn’t noticed all of these items when they had walked into this building. They were…strange. And he wanted to see what they did.
So he reached up with a small claw and grabbed a Burn Heal off of the lowest shelf. He held it in both hands and tilted his head at the thing.
“Char?” he asked questioningly as he held the item up in the air. It was then, unknowingly to Charmder, that he pointed the small nozzle right at his face. One of his hands then accidently pushed the little trigger that allowed the Burn Heal to spray out and onto the small red creature’s face. Shocked and frightened Charmander let out one of his Growl attacks…Or so it sounded. It was either that or a very loud cry.

Pikachu jumped as she heard a growling noise, pivoting around she saw it was just another Pokémon playing with some of the tube like things that was placed all around the "Pokémart" as her trainer had called it.
And something had now squirted out and gone in the Charmander's face, Serves him right thought the Pikachu, who was still in a bad mood after her trainer thinking she was a boy.
Pikachu then decided to investigate, this Pokémon didn't look like her, she had yellow skin, and ears, this Pokémon, was red and had a strange flame coming out of its tail, Pikachu looked behind her to make sure her tail wasn't on fire too, then walking.. well more like waddling Pikachu went over and hid behind a box to watch.

Lyrus put his items on the counter, spreading them apart so the shopkeeper could see them more clearly. He turned when he heard Charmander utter a loud cry. The little pokémon had sprayed himself with a Burn Heal. Lyrus chuckled slightly, then turned back to the cashier.

The purple haired girl flinched when she heard that shriek of noise coming from her Pokémon. Why would he--Oh wait, he sprayed himself with a Burn Heal. Okay, even she had to admit that that was pretty funny, but she also took it on a serious note. It wasn't as if the status reliever could do any hard to Charmander, right? So, he should be fine. It was then she situated the things in her arms before heading off to purchase them.

The small red Pokémon was wiping the Burn Heal off of his face. He had gotten a bit in his eyes and they were beginning to sting. It was then he felt the nudge from Mudkip and he smiled a little bit. It was good to have a friend right now.
