Whoosh.
That is the sound that traversed the air as Soaringedge flew through the vast sky, a blurry speck that would have shocked and surprised any human populations below if only there had been any. For both above and below him were endless blue expanses: the empty sea and cloudy sky stretched out in every direction. Wind streaming past his aerodynamic body like a strong, numb current, his four long tubelike arms held steadily behind him, rather than whipping around in the turbulence as you would expect: this flight was largely psychic. He was traveling at incredible speed… first crossing an entire continent, and now the ocean that separated it from another: The island. Natao. And the Deoxys was not the first legendary pokemon to seek this destination.

His reasons, however, were distinctly different. He was going to find Lamen.

They had first met at the northern lab, a place where he had lived for years: an isolated location surrounded by nothing but snow and ice for miles around. Was it the snowstorms, who would only let up for a few days every month, that had blown so hard into his temperature-impervious body that he had been numbed to the importance of what was around him? The human girl had been his friend, like many of the scientists that worked there. But she was more than that… She had taught him so much, taken care of him with so much care and devotion. To Soaringedge, she was the only one he could communicate with… for he did not speak a language that any human or pokemon on this planet could understand. He came from a meteorite, after all. From space. He could not remember why, or how… but this was his home now. And he belonged by Lamen’s side. If only he had listened to her when she asked him if he would like to go with her… if only he had understood sooner that he only felt so comfortable at the lab because she was there for him. He had been afraid of going away… but he hadn’t known what from.

Now he did, for an emptiness had filled him after the student’s departure. A nagging sensation, a pull towards the quest that he would undertake: To find a human girl with only one piece of information: Natao.

Finally, the island rolled onto the horizon… Solid land grew closer fast. Like a bullet at the speeds it had been traveling, the Deoxys made a loud thump in the warm beach sand, large clouds of dust lifting around him from the impact. When everything settled, he still did nothing but stand there… looking at this strange, new environment. It was completely different from the arctic lands he was familiar with, and his curiosity was piqued. He had never seen trees so up close before, and had never trod in sand. He spent maybe an hour doing nothing but remaining still while analyzing his surroundings. Lamen is here, he thought.

She didn't know why she was wondering around, with nothing to do or no one to talk to. Why she had left Kader's side and not bothered to go find T.C. or Luna to simply wonder alone. But she had, her hands resting against her golden blonde-red hair that was pulled up, magenta eyes closed. Although she wondered if it was because she wanted to be alone for once in her life? Well... it wasn't the first time but...
Aimi sighed and shook her head, letting her arms drop to her sides as she hummed softly, something to take her mind off of thinking. She was tired of thinking, needed to do something else for a change of pace. Idly, as she raised her hand to the pokeball around her neck, she concentrated as she hummed and caused it to float a few inches up into the air. Ah, the power of being psychic... Or a beginning psychic anyway.
"I really need to get that looked into," she murmured to no one in particular.

Finally, the pokemon's four silver and yellow limbs undulated, curling together like strands of DNA and then merging into what would resemble large, humanoid arms as he advanced towards the line of trees with slow steps, muted by sand and dirt.

But once below the canopy of green, he couldn't help but stare upwards in awe... light as he had never seen it before was being filtered through thick bristling leaves. An arm extended carefully towards the nearest branch, but something interrupted it, telling Sor there was someone nearby.

Who is it?

The deoxys turned towards the sensation, deciding to scan the area. A golden light suddenly shot out from the golden jewel in his center, shimmering outwards brightly in a wide motion. However, life pulsed its loud and vibrant signal everywhere around him, and taken by surprise, the Deoxys shook and fell onto its rear, dizzied and blinking with wide eyes. He had never before encountered such concentrations.

Blinking, the pokeball dropped back against her chest and she looked around, sure she had heard something not far from where she was. Odd, she didn't think there was any one around... Well, it was likely to be a pokemon, she surmised, and hoped it wouldn't attack her. Especially since she had none of her own to defend herself with. Here was to hoping, she mused with dry sarcasm as she turned to go investigate what she thought she heard, that it wasn't a wild pokemon.
Even more hope went to praying she hadn't gone too far from the city. Mentally she sweatdropped, sighing softly. She really needed a pokemon of her own..

After recovering a little from his shock, Sor decided that scanning was a bad idea over here. He also understood that these trees were alive... kind of like the plants the scientists had had in the northern research center, but a lot bigger. There were also small beings he'd never seen before, but that he knew about from Lamen: bugs. He would usually be more curious about them, but someone was out there, and he wanted to meet them...

But whoever it was, he didn't want to startle them. Sor knew from experience that he was alien to this place, and was likely to be a cause of worry for most humans and pokemon before they got used to him...
Getting back up, the Deoxys focused, and then released a startling display of light from his crystal. It resembled golden northern lights that shone above his location in a telltale fashion. It was sending out the signal friend, although he wasn't sure if anyone would understand it... but at least this way, whoever was out there knew he was here as well.

(he's so kute!)

And immediately she was drawn to it, eyes wide in awe. 'How pretty!' she thought, having never before seen such a beautiful display and she couldn't help but wonder where it was coming from. Of course, as per Aimi, she was still walking as she looked up -which we all know is a bad combination- and the girl soon found herself tripping over a decent sized rock which sent her tumbling to the ground. Which landed her in front of the being that had created such a gorgeous display in the sky.
Whining, she sat up and rubbed her nose, having yet to realize that the deoxys was there before her. "That hurt," she pouted, making a note to go back and kick the rock later.

((xP heart ))

Sor was about to cower out of the meeting and hide in a tree to wait when suddenly, a human tripped AT him out of nowhere. Startled, the pokemon took a step back in confusion, narrowly escaping collision- but instead of him, Aimi hit the ground. An... odd sight. He didn't know humans did that as well.

The pokemon paused for a second, and seeing as he probably couldn't quite hide now and the human was grumbling in dismay at his feet (or lack of), he held out a hand before her head, meaning to help her up.

(X3 She's such a clutz)

Seeing the hand come her way, she didn't even realize it didn't seem human as she took it, thanking the being in front of her as she pulled herself up with his help. Only to pause as a pokemon stood before her. And a yellow one at that. Aimi blunk, then tilted her head in confusion. "..."
Then immediately began to mentally pray to god that this pokemon wouldn't eat her. Not that he seemed to have a mouth, but she was sure it could find a way if it truly wanted.

The deoxys stood equally numbly, wondering when the human would start moving again. She had taken his hand, which meant she wasn't afraid, right? Or did he have to do something first? She really wasn't moving. At all. Resisting the urge to poke her head to see if she was still alive, the pokemon searched through all of his knowledge of humans for what to do in this situation... finally, Soaringedge recalled that humans greeted each other upon meeting.

He lifted an arm, waved his hand and... HONKED a loud, blaring sound in an awkward, ridonculous imitation of a hello. Still, he was rather proud of this attempt. It was better than past tries.

At the loud sound, she jumped and gave a noise of surprise as she moved back a bit. Was it trying to communicate? Or did it want to eat her face? She really wasn't sure but decided to hope it was talking to her and not asking how delicious she tasted. Eying him warily, she took in a deep breath to calm herself.
"Please tell me you're trying to say hello and not wanting to eat my face," she spoke after a minute or so, hands on her chest to make sure her heart was still beating.

The human was afraid after all. How was he supposed to convince her? Soaringedge shook his head and hands vigorously, hoping she'd interpret that as "no." But then again, she might think it's not-saying-hello. Storing the information that waving a hand and honking could also mean "I want to eat your face", he searched his memories again. What could he do that Lamen taught him? Write a peace treaty? Treating the human to ice cream? Do the Caramelldansen? Play chess? Completely out of ideas, the Deoxys temporarily forgot there was someone standing right in front of him and began to glow with frustration as he stood.

Watching it shake it's head, Aimi grew curious, her fear sedated for the moment. What was it trying to say, no that he wasn't saying hello? Or maybe he didn't want to eat her face after all! Of course, when he stopped she grew more curious, then alarmed as he began to glow. She swallowed quickly and wondered what to do about her situation now.
Because in all honestly, she wasn't sure if she should be afraid or intrigued by it's glowing, after all, maybe it wanted to eat her face. Of course, maybe it was upset because of the obvious language barrier between humans and pokemon. That was a big obstacle to overcome after all, which was often the good thing about having a psychic pokemon in one's team. Then the answer hit her and she was half tempted to smack her forehead in agitation. Of course!
Psychics did it all the time, right? Talked with pokemon that weren't of the the psychic type, and the like. Maybe she could do it? Sure she wasn't trained in the arts, but what little she did know she could put to use right? Here was to trying! Closing her eyes, she focused on trying to figure out what essentially amounted to thought-speak. Question was, what to say?

Sor snapped out of it and blinked at Aimi, who seemed to be trying to do something by focusing as well. Was she imitating him?
But they were suddenly interrupted by an angry roar, as something else than the human had been attracted by the shiny lights (who had now faded to nothing over the treetops.)

It sounded like "PHAAAN!" and the loud stomping of heavy feet, ready to defend the territory, was getting closer.

Of course, the Deoxys, never having encountered a Donphan before, knew not of what this meant and only tilted his head in further confusion.

She was quickly pulled from her own thoughts and musings, eyes wide. Okay, now that was a pokemon that was sure to eat her face! "Umm. I think it's time to go now," she muttered, reaching for his hand.

Soar stumbled awkwardly behind Aimi while running, nonetheless surprised from this turn of events and completely clueless as to why they were running. He wondered briefly if she was trying to bring him somewhere when a pokemon, covered in a hard stone carapace, burst out from the foliage behind the them.

It charged purposefully, its eyes brimming with anger at the unknown pokemon- who was it to mark HIS territory with those shiny lights? (If that was how he marked territory, anyways... but the Donphan could not possibly know, and however he interpreted it was up to him. ) "PHAAAAN!" After that note, the rock type curled into a ball and initiated a rollout attack- aimed squarely at the tresspassers, who were surely too slow to evade it.

It didn't take long for Deoxys to register a threat as the other pokemon shot at them, spinning furiously.
Lifting Aimi into his arms, both of them began to glow with psychic energy, and he jumped to float above the forest canopy just in time for them to avoid the angry one. He then continued to watch the scene below with interest as branches shook from the Rollout's impact and a frustrated "DONPHAN!" rose from below the trees.
