This is something TIM might like.
Gaia is planning on having "charity" items. They are called "charity" items cause the money that was used to buy it in the cash shop is givin to the communities around the world. They would help with disasters, education, animals, culture, hungry people, the homeless, etc. All the money would go to non-profit organizations helping lots of causes. This is new since people started protesting MTV with no cash cards even thou it is little compared to how many still buy them but now your money isn't just helping Gaia, it is helping the world!
I think it is good.

Excellent concept, I say. I'm just curious as to what the charity items could be.

Same. What I say that they should do is each week the money would go to like animal organizations and the next week be like homeless. And they could use already existant items as charity items but have it be random each week.

Are they really going to sponsor a new charity every week? Where is the post proposing this new event. It sounds spiffy!

It was a community spotlight and I was saying that they should do something like that. Instead of choosing one single group you can do all. One group per week.

I think they had a survey in the GCD about what charities people would like to donate to. They just had general categories, but there were a lot. I think it's a great concept that they're actually doing this since so many Gaians mentioned it during the orphan event. It's something I'm definitely going to support.

If it is a charity event how much of a cut does Gaia take of the donated funds?

Gaia says that they're giving all of the donations to the charities, but the items will be in the Cash Shop, so we can't tell.

And they said that they would have special "charity" items. Which those are the only ones that give money to the organizations. They still want money but some of the profits are going to help the communities of the world.

Damn right I like it. Not only because of the soul-shrivelingly selfish reason that it gives me an excuse to buy items from Gaia again, but also for all the right reasons, too.
But seriously... its burning me up that of all the great causes in the poll, which will all go to helping people in need, the one that's winning is OMFG LETZ HELP TEH AMINALS!!!!!11
Should we help give troubled and abused children a new life, a new home, and a new future? Nah, lets help the animals.
Should we help education, one of the most neglected, yet most important aspects of our society? Nah, lets help the animals.
Should we help this family who's entire home was destroyed by a flood? Nah, let's help the animals.
Should we stop the government from raping the environment so that in a few years we'll still have ice caps? Nah, let's help the animals.
Should we try to cure cancer, aids, and leukemia? Nah, let's help the animals.
WHAT THE HELL. HOW ARE PEOPLE DOING THIS?

I'm voting for the cancer one, because stopping disease is most important to me.
