Once upon a time, I decided it would be a good idea to move to the other side of the world for a year and a half. I'm half way through that right about now, and I'm still not sure what I make of it. Or what it's making of me...

I also thought I'd be writing more here, but in lieu of my super fantastic writerly wife and I going on writing dates, I find myself woefully uninspired. So maybe if I'm in a community or something I'll be more inclined to share things... Or write more in the first place.

Right then. That's the introduction for the day.

You declined to mention about how uber cool and amazing you are, so I'll do it for you. SHE IS AN AMAZING WRITER. And she did NaNoWriMo last year, and kicked my a**, and her story was amazing... I still day dream about it from time to time. Trufax.

We did go on an awful lot of writers dates, though. And bb, I just found one of our prompts that was like "no food, no water" or something, and yours was about zombies heart and mine was about a brother and sister who got lost in the forest after their best friend betrayed them and stole their treasure map, and it was all KINDS of drama and omg! I miss you a lot, and not just because you're amazing, but because nobody inspires me here they way you used to. I wrote a LOT more when you were around ;_;

I found something we wrote once between us. It is titled "Goat Story" and it made me giggle a lot.

Welcome Sally!

Where in the world are you? I'll make it a sticky game. "Where is the World is Sally Black?!" XD

I've never done NaNo, because I fear it would take time away from what I'm writing right now. T.T

I'd like to one day, though.

BE INSPIRED!

Hi Sally! Nice to meet you.

I've never done NaNo as I'm always too busy with my A levels or my own stories.

Hello people who said hello!

As my wife mentioned, I am in India. I'm living is a rural area in the south... It's very rural. I'm very happy that I have internet access.

NaNo is fun. I think I might try it again this year. I don't think I'll have time, because I'm working full time, but I might try it anyway. Last year I did NaNo amidst my last semester in University, which was trying, to say the least, but it turned out pretty fun.

Welcome! Sorry I didn't get a chance to stop by before ^^.

Goat story, eh? When I was in school, I read a book called After the Goat Man. I remember liking it a lot... now anyway. I hadn't thought about it in years.

Nano is amazingly fun. But I hope to be slacking off and doing outlines this November. *kicks novel*

We called our goat Sylvia, because we are both, or at least in high school we were, or at least in high school I was a, big theater nerd(s). Sylvia is a goat in a play by Edward Albee called The Goat: or, Who is Sylvia. It's pretty great, if you like reading plays. Of course, the little story had nothing to do with that play... just the name of the goat.

Ew, I remember being in Tom's Diner (Will still worked there) when you told me about that play.

I miss Tom's a lot, you know? And I almost wish we'd gotten an apartment (though not really) because I would have liked to be able to walk to Tom's in under an hour. You know, every time I listen to the Distillers, I still get like really vivid flashbacks of wondering around Denver with my iPod... aside from the fact that your car didn't have air conditioning, that was one of the most awesome summers ever.

I get all wibbly and nostalgic when I think of Denver, and living with you. The only thing that would suck now is that all our friends moved back (Terrance, Molly, et cetera) except for Josh and right now I'm irritated with him. Ugh, I need a job, wife. I need qualifications. Good thing I'm going to college for something I actually want to do this time *thumbs up*

Alright, so back on track: Our midnight writing dates were AMAZIN. Always. And when you come back and I have a job (read, money) we'll go to shows with Adrian all the time, and brew the best beer (he'd better make me some too! Or we've got to learn to make our own!!!!) --- I totally got off track again. XD Okay, I'm going to go to class now, and leave commenting for some time when I'm not so dreamy-retarded.

When I get back, there will be beer! Oh yes! And midnight diner time, and possibly a skeevy apartment near Tom's. Man, I could not remember Will's name when I was writing you that story. Sheesh. I knew it was a normal boy type name, I just couldn't think of it. *phails*

Air conditioning in my car? Ha! You would wilt like a delicate mountain flower in... well, in the tropics, I guess, if you were here. I myself am wilting like a delicate mountain flower in the tropics. *droops* But it's getting cooler now a days. I can sleep with the fan on medium instead of high now! Woo!

Anywho.... I've been thinking of writing a story about a pseudo me when I get back, except in the story I'll be road tripping (on buses) around So-Cal and the west coast, which I probably wont actually do... Which is why I should write a story about it, right??

(and as a side comment to anyone who may have noticed: I love ellipses....)

So my screen-writing friend informed me that plot is easy. Ha! I say... But hey... maybe I'll try it. The steps, he says, are such:

1) meet the character (show who he was yesterday/reader identification)
2) set up their goal (something external comes and shows them the way)
3) going for it (and it seems to be the right way to goal/the right goal in general)
4) the point of no return (this is the section where they're more than halfway there, the point where you're too far to turn back - Hero's journey = the death - part of character dies and is reborn like the Phoenix)
5) major set back (impossible for the character to overcome villain/get goal)
6) Climax/resolution (no explans)

It seems pretty simple... I have this tendency to make up characters, and then when I can't plot them worth a damn, I just give them some gay sex, and that's that. However, comma, long pause.... I should see what I can do with a plot. I've been reading some fantasy novels lately that have convinced me that writing is a good idea that I have not indulged in in far too long. So... plot first, characters second. We'll see how it goes.

Awe, I love how with you and Molly around I don't even have to be within 50 miles of Josh to be annoyed by him! Isn't modern technology cool!! This is a special moment.

Anyway my problem with that was always giving them a goal, first of all, because in my life goals are non-existent... and they -do- crop up, they're usually very small like: don't fail the Spanish test. And who ever can write a book around something that lame is a better person than I.

My second problem is that I have no major set backs either. My people go along and.... yeah do stuff. So as easy as it is for Josh to tell me that plot is SO EASY OMG HE'S SO SMART AND HE KNOWS HOW TO DO EVERYTHING BETTER THAN EVERYBODY ELSE it's not quite as simple as just laying out the ground rules. I already know them. I've known them since I was 7, come on! I read picture books that detailed how to lay out plot using a dog climbing a hill and it's not that big of news to me anymore.

... Sorry, I hate when he lectures me. I know you adore him and I shouldn't be mean. We do this like... all the time lol
