I know it's a US holiday- but some countries do have a version of Labor Day in theirs so- here's to anyone that works, has worked, plans to work- take the day off and relax.

If you are employed in an industry that requires your business be open today, may you get double pay and some extra time off soon.

Around the US- Labor day unofficially ends summer and starts fall- even if it is 3 weeks before the calendar says summer ends... and is one ofthe hottest days of the year... But the fireworks that we get to see, at least around here, are phenom!!!

It is to recognize all the hard work people do- especially those in public service like firemen, policemen and even servicemen. But it has its roots in the unions- recognize that people do work hard, and need a little pat on the back every now and then. It also gives the Muscular Dystrophy organization a boost in donations through a national telethon every year which is good. They have found some medications to slow down the progression of the disease and in some cases almost eradicate the disease in its earliest stages.

So--- that's a little history of Labor day - at least in the present.
