With the clouds lolling by slowly, the pink lion had just finished up his breakfast. The sun was slowly rising in the sky as his pale eyes gazed upwards. It was just so pretty, the sky.
Many days has passed since Pembe'juhi had seen another lion, and he was beginning to wonder if he had wandered somewhere he wasn't supposed to. With a small smile on his face, he let his gaze scan the area around him, looking for any signs of life.

Claws dug into the cool ground as a blue lioness stretched awake from another evening's rough sleep. She shook her head in an attempt to wake up, groggier than usual, and looked towards the rising sun. Zazu was supposed to wake her up a while ago - and yet he was nowhere to be seen. Shrugging off the thought, the feline finished stretching and headed off to look for a water hole.
Her purple eyes surveyed the dormant plains as she quietly made her way to the closest body of water. Spotting a pink dot in the field, Subira narrowed her eyes to focus on the bright color, then hesitantly began moving closer, forgetting about her search.

With the watering hole not too far from him, Pembe'juhi had hoped that it meant that there would be others around. For the past couple of days, his search has appeared to be fruitless. But even so, he had entertained himself with plenty to do. And at the present, he was debating about whether he should go and wander.
But with the gentle breeze, another scent was slowly making his way towards him. While it was still weak, it was a different scent and this piqued his interest. His head raised slightly as his pale eyes gazed around, looking. Just as he stuck out with his bright pelt, he thought he spotted a figure off in the distance that was of a different color as well. Hoping that it was so, he called out cheerfully, "Hello!"

His sudden outburst had nearly made her jump. What kind of lion was so peppy at this time of the morning? She smiled at herself for her lack of frivolousness - or more of a lack of sleep. If one took a good look at her face, they'd notice faint bags under her purple eyes. She ignored her own fatigue and took a deep breath, steadying herself before continuing forward towards the pink male. A small, content smile appeared on her face as she neared him a couple yards away.
"Good morning to you too sir," she chuckled, peering up at the big lion. "Now what's a lion such as yourself doing here so early in the morn?"

As the figure got a bit closer, Pembe'juhi could make out the blue lioness. Her colors reminded him of the sky, nice and soft. With a few steps closer to her, he noticed that looked a bit tired. Perhaps she had just awoken and he woke her? He surely hoped not, or else that'd make him very upset with himself. The last thing he wanted was to make any enemies with anyone.
With a pleasant smile, he replied, "The sun always wakes me up early. Else I'd just sleep the day away," He chuckled softly, "Plus, watching the sunrise is always amazing." With a slight nod of his head, that was perhaps one of his favorite things to do, was to watch the sunrise and sunset. The colors the sun made each day was different from the next. Kind of like the animals he encountered, always changing.
"Did you just wake? I hope I didn't wake you!"

She closed her eyes to his reply, contemplating the morning sun and his calm voice. Indeed, she considered the sun beautiful, but the majority of her days began after sunrise. It would be disappointing to this male if she were to tell him that, so she remained quiet, a small smile tugging at her mouth. As he finished his explanation, Subira fluttered her eyes open and studied the pink male momentarily. He stood out with his bright pink pelt and yellow designs, it wasn't surprising that she'd seen him across a distance. But his eyes - the pale, sky blue - seemed to draw her in. They were nearly the same hue as her own fur.
The lioness shook her head, chuckling at his worried tone. "No, not at all," she replied. "In fact, I was just heading towards the water hole. Would you care to join me..?" She looked at him questioningly, not knowing his name.

Relieved to hear that, Pembe'juhi tilted his head slightly before he gasped, "How silly of me! I'm Pembe'juhi, but you can call me Pembe! It's much easier to say than my whole name." Plus, he liked being known just as Pembe anyway, it was nice and easy.
He didn't hesitate to nod at her question, "Of course, I'd be more than happy to join you," He took a few steps in her direction, "Thanks for offering." It wasn't everyday he got to accompany someone. He waited for her to lead the way, as he wasn't too familiar with these lands and he was assuming that she knew more around here than he did.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Pembe," she replied. "I'm Subira. Simple enough, no?" The lioness smiled, leading the way towards the water hole. She felt his presence there, by her side, and didn't think too seriously of it. Most males she had come across had not been nearly as friendly as he. But brushing aside the thoughts, she focused on the warmth of the sunlight hitting her back as they moved.
After a few minutes of padding through the grass, Subira spoke again to break the strange silence. "You don't seem very familiar," she hesitantly looked up at the male. "Are you new to this area?"
