So, as you may or may not have noticed from my signature (no, the part BELOW the handsome future president), I've been questing for a zombie G Corp shirt. I've wanted one pretty much since I joined, because 1. I love G Corp (even though I missed their big event), 2. I love zombies, and 3. it looks pretty cool.
Of course, the longer I stayed here, the more expensive it got. The more expensive it got, the less likely it seemed I would ever get it, and I'd just spend my gold on other things.
However, not so long ago, I took a hard look at my inventory and decided that I had enough things I could bear sacrificing to pay for one. So, since then I've been slowly liquidating some of my assets.
However, I was looking through the MP, and I noticed that the slightly less cool Human G Corp Shirt had suffered a recent and substantial price drop. I also noticed for the first time how much cheaper it was than the zombie shirt. gonk
After debating it for a while, I decided to go ahead and spring for it. I'm pretty happy with this compromise--I like the zombie one better, but not 625,000 better. gonk And I'm just glad to finally own something with the G Corp Logo on it that I don't have to be facing backwards to see. And hey--I can still quest for the more expensive shirt. I'll just have this slightly less awesome one in the meantime. XP
So, all in all, that was an easy compromise.
They aren't always, are they? Other compromises on Gaia have been harder. Generally, such compromises have had to do with the site itself. The main one that springs to mind is the anti-MTV shop petition. It was hugely popular--to the point where I couldn't keep up with all the people signing it. Eventually, I had to choose--would I keep making myself miserable by working my a** off on a petition that will probably never change anything, or just let it go and try to enjoy Gaia despite the problems it has?
For the sake of my sanity, I chose the latter option, but to this day I still have some amount of shame and regret about it.
What about you? Have you faced any compromises on Gaia--whether as simple as springing for a cheaper item, or as complex as weighing your happiness against your ideals?
Feel free to talk about real-world compromises, too, if you want. XP
p.s.
As far as the title of this thread goes, that's not really my philosophy on life. But, for a quick and easy life philosophy generator, just replace "compromises" with another random plural noun! blaugh

SOMEONE has been spending too much time in the GCD!
This looks like something I would find THERE!
I don't think I have ever really had to make a compromise on Gaia.

I think the Human one fits you better.
The Zombie one, being red and black, is too punk for you to wear and still look like TIM to me. o___o

First off... I love the shirt TIM, it is fah-bulous. Dalvar is right.
And on another, serious note...
As of late, I have no serious compromises at all that I would bother mentioning, however, I would like to say that compromises come along every day, sometimes unnoticeably, but they are always there, lurking in the dark corner of your subconscious mind, and waiting to spring on you when you can't decide between more meat or more lettuce on your sandwich. But always take the time to think before you act, something I have learned by experience. My example sounds silly, but when the meat causes food poisoning, you won't be laughing anymore...

What is with me and my long seemingly pointless posts lately XD Sorry...

REALLY?!?! My life is complete! I thought only Toastbuster had that ability over most people.
Lets just say that I am very, very confusing. Its easiest to put it that way, I think most people will take it better then "Crazy", "Insane" or something of the sort. Mm. Yep.

Ariaziane REALLY?!?! My life is complete! I thought only Toastbuster had that ability over most people. Lets just say that I am very, very confusing. Its easiest to put it that way, I think most people will take it better then "Crazy", "Insane" or something of the sort. Mm. Yep. Actually, I can follow Toast pretty well most of the time... however, I'm often distracted from what he is saying by the burning question of why he says it in a way that's way more complicated than neccesary. XP (No offense, Toast.)

I can follow Toast perfectly for some odd reason. He confuses me only on rare occasions when I am already deleriously tired. I ask myself the same question, I think there are many reasons... Maybe he likes showing of his sweet skillz. Yes, I used a Z in skillz. Or maybe he just enjoys confusing us. Possibly it is because we bring him up randomly in chats, like so.

I never said that what you said was random, it was perfectly placed, therefore not random whatsoever. I mean random in general, as I say I am random though at the moment I am not saying anything of the sort.

I am at the stage now with my head is a little fuzzy and loopy but I can still type coherently enough to spew out words like "sesquipedalian", "verbose", "floccinaucinihilipilification", "defenestrate", and "marmalade".
