I recently graduated high school and my girlfriend is still a senior in High School and in the Marching Band. I was the top trumpet player there my last 2 years in Marching Band and I still have a lot of friends there but I still have this question.

What do you guys think of former seniors coming back to visit Marching Band or Band in general? For some reason my former Marching Band hated at least 90% of all the seniors that would visit no matter who they were. I would like to visit my old friends and my girlfriend but i don't want to offend anyone by coming back. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? confused

Some of our seniors have come to visit, whether it be during practice to watch, or during lunch at band camp. I didn't know any of them, since I'm a freshman, but everyone seemed happy to see them.

I am one of those graduates. 3nodding Even the band director approves when we allumni come for a visit, to play or whatev. Though, this is likely to vary. Our band was small (still is) and I was one of the best players and contributers, so... that might bias the decision in favor of me, lol. I think most people wouldn't mind though, as long as they didn't hate you xp

i know exactly what your talking about....last year my senior year my boyfriend came back to see me and his little sister....he graduated the year before.. and i go back everynow and then this year...

people might not like you going back if they think your going to boss them around or tell them how to run the section...it really shouldnt matter what they think any way

Yeah they come back and help out sometimes, with drills or learning music or whatever needs done. Or sometimes they come back just to watch and hang out with their old friends...our band likes to call those ones "band stalkers".

Nobody ever seems to hate them though. Usually they're happy to see them. Or make fun of them. biggrin But usually it's a good reception.

I did the same thing this year. I graduated and went back, mostly to visit everyone before I came up here to college. If they didn't want me there, no one acted like it. They like it when they can get extra help. xp

We all love to see (most) of last years seniors, they usually come near the end of practice to watch the show, and usually they are allowed up on to our observation platforms

Although our BD won't let them become marching techs the year they graduate, they have to wait a year (or two years depending on how you figure it) that way they they don't delay/disrupt the new leadership that forms

We have a lot of people that come back. Some just watch, but we have some alumni that come back as techs and assistants for the band. They just love us that much. xd Our drum major from two years ago came back this year to help out our two new DM's this year and our percussion arranger was in the drumline just 3 years ago. I'm definitely going to come back and visit my underclassmen friends next year.
