...Or do horn and mello players tend to get 'thrown to the side' as trumpet and low brass players 'outshine' us? I see all this stuff about trumpets and low brass (and woodwinds too, lol), but nothing about horns or mellos. Or are we just a quieter and less spotlight-seeking lot? I mean, in our band I'm loved but that's cause I can overwhelm half the band myself (out of 27 winds when I graduated) and I play well (doesn't hurt that I was the only one either), haha.

Mellos usually get the better parts in the music... in corps bands at least

*scoffs* Hmph! In our marching band, trumpets and mellos get loads of features. Low brass (specifically baritones) only started getting featured when I joined (I play REALLY loud and well ^_^)

We're playing video game music this year. Our opener is the main theme for Halo, the second piece is a combo of the theme for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and one of the tunes in it called Shmirtzen (sp?; means "pain" in German).
