Most of them have their advantages and disadvantages, so which one do you prefer, and why?
When you design websites, do you keep the capabilites of different browsers in mind? Do you think that its important to do so?

I use them both... Most pages are directed towards IE so they display better sometimes. I'm surprised how well gaia shows up on Firefox. It also seems to work better when gaia is being buggy. I like the ability to block third party cookies and all pop-ups on IE.
The winning feature of Mozilla is, of course, tabbed browsing.

I used to stubbornly stick to Internet Explorer, until I tried out Mozilla and discovered the convenience of tab browsing! Now that most people have faster connections and so have many windows open at the same time, its much easier to keep all of them open with tab browsing.
Then theres the pop-up blocking, and another feature I recently discovered: extensions! Click Tools > Extensions then 'Get More Extensions' in the window that comes up, to view a list of them. The ones I'm using a the moment are ColorZilla (similar to the eyedrop tool from Photoshop, allowing you to see the RGB and hex code for any colour in a Mozilla browser), and Web Developer, which can disable CSS on a site, edit it and preview CSS, view source, outline table cells, and lots of other handy features for 'borrowing' ideas from people's websites xd
The only problem I've had with Mozilla is that it doesn't display styling of scrollbars, which is a little disappointing (maybe in the next version?).
I try to design sites that work equally well in IE and Mozilla, and sites that don't work in Mozilla irritate me like hell because thats all I use. At the place I'm working at, they design to work in IE, Mozilla and Safari, on both PC and Mac.

I love Mozilla Firefox! heart Tabbed browsing is the only way to go. Hehe. The only sites I've found that don't work with FF are the ones I use at work, they both run off of ActiveX stuff and Mozilla doesn't support that. Maybe one of those extension/plugins might help.

I used Opera and IE. Last week I discovered the wonders of Opera. I had tried Firefox before, but it just wasn't up to speed and I found Opera faster. I use IE only when something doesn't work in Opera. Opera has the tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, different skins to choose from, mouse gestures ( heart ), google search built into the toolbar, mail and chat (which I haven't dove into yet). BUT, what it does have is an ad at the top. I don't mind it much, but I know a lot of people do. You can buy Opera to get rid of it. There's also other ways to get rid of it, like deletion of files or adding things to the Opera6.ini file, but there will still be the space where the ad was, just not the ad. In my opinion it's a small price to pay to have a great, free browser.

Chisa Most of them have their advantages and disadvantages, so which one do you prefer, and why? When you design websites, do you keep the capabilites of different browsers in mind? Do you think that its important to do so? When I design webpages usually use Mozilla Firefox, but once in a while I'll use Safari on occasion to see how it looks. The tabbed browsing and popup blockers are top notch and reporting bugs to Apple on Safari has been really helpful biggrin Most times I avoid Netscape like the plague, but after getting several comments about how it doesn't work in Netscape, I discovered that it's just the way the HTML coding is done.

I use internet explorer most of the time because it takes up little memory and it can handle lots of css stuff that others can not. I do use firefox every now and then, when IE is having problems with a site like gaia. The only time I use netscape is to check my designs and code for the web layouts I make to make sure I haven't done anything that netscape will have troubble with ^_^

On my comps I just stick to IE though I do like Firefox. When it comes to designing it just depends which comp I'm on. I mainly focus on the 2 I listed but I check Safari just for the hell of it. I don't even bother with Netscape, when making personal sites it's not worth the fighting to get Netscape to work with my designs.

I use Slimbrowser. I have IE and Firefox on my computer, but I just use them for cross-browser testing (I should probably use more, but I'm lazy). Slimbrowser has the tabbed browsing + skins + CSS seems to work better than it does in Firefox + a little sort of built-in notepad for editing webpages. IE toolbars don't work too well with it, but I don't use them anyway, so I don't really care.
*looks at other stuff people are saying about browsers* I gotta get me some of that ColorZilla stuff. eek

I use IE normally, but when I'm designing websites I always check it on Netscape too. (Mac and PC) My fiancee's roommate uses Firefox though, so I will have to check that out.

I use Safari. It's just so much simpler and easier to use and supplies me with anything I want for my internet browsing needs. 3nodding
