Sight reading always has involved pieces in the competitions here that are pretty darn easy. I've always found it fun and done well on it.
It's nice to hear different music here and there.

Well its hard for me, thats because I use BOTH Treble and Bass clef... Like sometimes, I think a G for B. Clef is a E... and a D for Treble is F! O_O But otherwise, its fun.

i like it cuz it makes me feel accomplished. i mean, my sax tutor stressed theory a LOT so its pretty easy for me. plus i only play treble clef instruments, so there's never confussion.

I am super suck at sight reading, but this probably stems from being dyslexic, and being in a public school band where I was taught little outside basic music reading and playing. So IMO sight reading should burn and die a painful death.

I don't mind sight reading. Its preety much what I do these days. We get a piece...we play it...we move on to the next one. Same goes for solo stuff these days.

Depends on the song...
Considering it's summer and I don't have anything from school to practice, I basically find music on the internet, play it and move on... confused
Unless it's with trumpet. I can't site read with my trumpet worth a crap yet XD

sight reading is kinda easy...for my school band, the conductor always throws us new pieces that we have to learn that day so I suppose it's not too too bad.

Sightreading is essential to becoming a better musician. It really opens your eyes sometimes to how well you're doing (or how much work you need).
As for whether or not I like it., it depends on the piece. I play Horn, so if we're sightreading a march, I absolutely hate it.

It's interesting. It opens your eyes to how many misakes the band makes learning a piece. At evaluations we always do poorly with sight reading. It takes our band about a week to get basic rhythms down in a piece of music, since rarely does anyone work on it at home like they should.
Learning a full concert piece can take three weeks to a month, or more. Luckily our show music never takes that long. Well, almost never...

I kind of enjoy site reading. It makes me feel good when I can play something well my first time through. Or if I get lucky. xD

I haven't done sight reading in years. It is good to know site reading because it allows you to not only playing the notes but also recognizing the beat at which to play, tempo, and dynamics.
Just a hint for those who want to go to a music college after graduating high school, sight reading is a must to get some scholarships, either a few thousands or a full tuition, depending on the school.
