[ Setting is the river delta, in the edge of the rainforest, midday. All Palui are welcome! ]
From her perch on a moist rock in the middle of the fork in the river, Lillu, with her rear in the air and tail curled above it, stared intently at the water, brows furrowed, expression intense with concentration. One paw stationed securely on the rock, the other suspended above the rushing water, she stayed as still as she could while the sun glinted brightly off of her snow-colored fur, tongue sticking out of her mouth just a little in her intensity, then- SPLOSH. And failure. With a loud and frustrated sigh, Lillu plopped her rear back onto the rock in defeat while the fish darted away. Her ears drooped as she stared at the foamy water sadly before bowing her head. "It shouldn't be this haard.."

A snort, followed by a humored chuckled good be heard from a short distance. A pinkish red Palui with specks of golden revealed herself from some shrubbery, her pale pink eyes expressing amusement. She had been watching the other female out of curiosity, and it was quite entertaining.
"No, it shouldn't be that hard."
Sunburst made her way closer, her fluffy tail wagging behind her.
"Let a pro show you how it's done!"

Now how did THIS happen?
Helios stood crouching on a small strip of land, while water rushed by in the river. It wasn't really dangerous, unless you were a fire palui. If the flames on the tips of his ears went out, he'd get very sick.
"Paaahhhh!" He moaned, as if his companion would suddenly appear and rescue him. All he wanted was a fish to eat for a quick snack. One fish! Too much to ask for?
A small bundle of fish swam past him quickly, as if they were tauntign his appetite- yet, by the looks of it, something had scared them off. . . Either way, Helios was going to have to find out some way to get away from the water. "Why am I heeere?!" The fire palui muttered, while shifting on his thin strip of ground.

'Interesting. . .' There were two female palui in the river, perhaps looking for fish, like he was? Helios let out a whimper, not knowing whether or not to bring attention to himself, before he noticed something else.... "SUNSHINE!" He blurted loudly, adressing butterscotch, a golden orange-ish palui.

The little faint gold palui's steps were halting and occasionally he stopped long enough to shake the water from his paws. Leave it to little Narcassis to get himself in trouble. Leave it to the little bundle of fluff to wander away from his human...and the settlement to go exploring. Sure he knew he was way too young to be wandering alone, it was admittedly kinda exciting.
Fluffy tail wagging he pranced down toward the sound of rushing water. Water was always good and welcome~! Especially in the heat! Bouncing toward the edge he drew himself to a stop, sensing and hearing all the commotion along the river bank. One ear twitched and then the other joined the movement as he glanced about. There was a male fire palui on a rock some ways down the river and then there were to females further up stream. All of which were older than he was...Probably a lot older.
Whining moodily he sat down on one of the rocks to watch the spectacle before the sight of the brightly colored fish swimming past his rock caught his eye. And his stomach.

Ehhhh? Where did all the other Palui come from? Well, the more, the merrier, she guessed... and she also assumed that they all belonged to two-leggers. It didn't take long for her to spot the little one, who was much too young to be wandering about on his own. Sunburst made her way over to him, and the child seemed to be preoccupied with the fish swimming by.
"What're you doing on your own, little guy? There could be some hungry monster near by, looking for lunch."
She watched him for a moment, giving a tilt of her head.
"You hungry? I was gonna show that other gal how to catch these fish, but I could show you, too!"
That was when Sunburst trotted into the water, glancing up at the fish about to swim in her direction. Her mouth curled into a grin, and she gave the water a sharp bat of her paw, catching one of the fishes off guard. She batted again, and just wrestled with it until the final swap of her paw sent it out of the water.

In a failed attempt to catch her attention, Helios tried the water... Not too deep, but ever so cold...and wet.
After a few moments, the young adult pulled his hands out of the water, shaking it off ever so ligtly, while trying to figure out how to avoid having to swim. Or maybe he could just walk in the water? Helios was a fairly large palui.
Just as he was about to give up and jump in, yet ANOTHER palui caught his eyes. Narcissis.
The golden kit looked like salvation to Helios...WAaaaaaaaait a sec, where did the GIRL come from? She looked like bright fireworks, the golden speckles and the glimmering red coat on her looked like ice-cream-pie cake to a fat guy that hadn't eaten in days.
'Woooaahhh...' He thought, his eyes unable to tear away from the amazing, bright, vivide fur... "Hey, could you two help me out?" He asked, encaptured by the colorfulness.

What, what?? So many Palui around! Lillu sat bolt upright, craning her head left and right to look at them all. Maybe her splashing around attracted them? Were they all here trying to catch a shiny fish like her? Not far from her perch she'd noticed a Fire Plaui- but what was he doing in the middle of the river? Wasn't that dangerous? With a twitch of her ears she turned her head to a vividly colored female with yellow spots on her magenta pelt. According to what she said, she was a "pro" at catching fish. Lillu wrinkled her nose and scowled. Until recently, she'd lived with a human in the harbor town, so she was very unskilled in the ways of wild Palui. It wasn't her fault she couldn't fish! However, she watched very carefully as Sunburst skillfully swatted a fish clear out of the water. "Wow..."

"Huh?"
Sunburst looked to the Fire Palui, who happened to be caught in a tricky situation. She couldn't help but raise a brow. "What the heck are you doing over there? Are you trying to kill yourself?" Joking.
"I suppose you're looking to catch a meal, too? Come on, now. Just hop over to the other side, you're a big boy."
She glanced around and spotted a log, which she padded over to. It took some effort to actually push it from its spot, but managed to push it into the water. The water really wasn't that deep, so the log didn't float away.
"There." Sunburst looked to the others, blinking. "I guess I should catch more fish, ne? We've got quite the crowd here."

"I love you," Helios blurted while hopping onto the log."I know Butterscotch, but who are you twwwoooooo-" HIs voice quivered strongly, as he wobbled on the floating hunk of wood. Suddenly, as she mentioned fish, his empty stomach growled in reminder of how hungry he was. "Fish?" Said the palui, Helio's ears perked up, sticking erect in the air with interest.

Lillu had grown somewhat confused by all of the Palui everywhere, she wasn't accustomed to all of this interaction with others of her kind. Ears tilted back nervously, she watched as Sunburst moved a log into the water to help the Fire Palui, Helios. "Eh?" Lillu's ears twitched, was the Fire Palui referring to her when he asked who the two of them were? With her mind in so many different places, she wasn't concentrating very hard on keeping her footing on the slippery rock, then- SPLOSH again! Lillu was too flabbergasted at first to realize she'd fallen into the rushing water, her eyes darted around, looking at the schools of fish, the rocks at the bottom, the foamy water running over her head. In her panic she made the mistake of opening her mouth, releasing precious air from her lungs as she flailed to the surface.

"LADY ARE YOU CRAZY?! Someone, help her!" He yelled, staring O so panicked as she flailed to the surface... Tilting he ears back, Helios shifted, overwhelmed with terror...
And lept in after Lillu. Grabbing the scruff of her neck in his mouth (Eww!), he struggled whil paddling to the log, and used his tail and legs to push her up onto it. Helios was flailing madly at the log, disoriented and terrified as he hung on, while the rivers lapped against him.
Everything felt so cold...Blech, water....
