The car trip ha had Taken Kurios and Kashya, roughly forty-five minutes out of town. From here, the city lights of Gaia could hardly be seen. They were above the town for sure, up on a hill’s plateau. Since Kashya had hatched into his house and home, Kurios had been trying to find new ways to get her out of there, and experiencing things. Tonight’s activities seemed like the perfect idea, and no sooner had a television show advertised the idea to him, he set about to take Kashya and himself star watching. A quick search engine had given him the nearest spot for such an endeavour, and he made plans for it.

Kashya sat in the back seat, quietly gazing out the windows into the fast moving, black landscape. It was night time of course, and she seemed more awake than ever. Her eyes were curios, looking expectantly back at Kurio when he at last stopped the car and opened the door. “This is the spot,” He said, hopping out. He went around to Kashya’s side to open the door and helped her to unbuckle the seatbelt. Her feet searched for the ground quickly, before also stepping out and closing the door with a dull ‘thud’. Kurios lead the way to the boot, and handed Kashya some snack he had packed, and carried a few large blankets for them to sit on, himself.

The area had few fully grown trees and the ground was speckled with patches of dirt between the grass and weeds. To his surprise, other families or couples where also there, sitting on blankets similar to the ones he had brought along. It wasn’t as packed as restaurant or movie theatre might be, so as long as everyone kept friendly, he didn’t see any problems occurring. However it was colder than it would have been on the ground, but hopefully the thick jacked Ryo had leant Kashya for the night would keep her warm. If not, he had extra blankets.

Where are we going? I demand that you tell me where you are taking me!” Toulouse slammed his boyish fists angrily on the car’s dashboard, sounding all the world like a fussy old man. “You wake me up at Lord know what hour and for what? A drive through the country? It’s not even Sunday.”

Will you shut up already? I told you before, this is your initiation.” Felicity winked at the golden haired boy, all too used to his tantrums. In fact after the first few, she was being to be able to block them out completely. Things were definitely looking up.

Bah initiation. What are you a Frat Boy? Your costume is magnificent by the way. I couldn’t tell you from the real thing.”

Sticks and stones may break my bones-”

Yeah, blah blah brittle chimes. I know.” Toulouse crossed his arms over his chest and settled deeper into the seat with a glower on his face. It was dark. He liked daylight and sunshine and not the unholy hour of nine o’ clock.

You seriously need to learn to unwind and just roll with it. You might find that you like it.” The redhead retorted, turning the aging Saturn onto a small dirt road. She had taken them high above the city into the hills and still had a bit of a ways to go. Felicity had heard on the news about an incoming meteor shower. Whether it was speculation or fact she didn’t know. Well, she decided anways, shooting stars or no, the nightscape was breathtaking on the hillside. Felicity wanted to share her awe over it with Toulouse. She just hoped it didn’t blow up in her face

Are you ever going to tell me where we are going or are you just going to let me stew over in it?” Toulouse asked, breaking the ten minute lapse.

Nope. It’s a surprise.” Was the only reply Felicity gave.

Botheration.”

“Can we sit here?” Kashya asked, tapping her foot lightly on the ground.
“As long as there aren’t any ants, it’s fine with me,” Kurios approved.
Kurios lay down the blanket with a flourish, which incurred a small cry of applause from Kashya, before he pulled her down to sit next to him, taking the food in her hands, and spreading it out for them to snack on at will. Chicken, chocolate and crème biscuits and warm drinks where just to name a few. A packet of marshmallows was also sitting in between them.
“What do we do now?” a confused Kashya asked.
“Just look up, and see if you can spot anything”
Kashya furrowed her brow. “But what are we meant to ‘spot’” she countered before actually thinking it over. “Stars, planets, UFO’s, Extra terrestrials. You don’t even have to look if you want, just enjoy the view,”

Piece of crap Felicity thought as her brother’s car rumbled to a screeching halt on the hillside. The scrap heap had barely made it to the top. Thank goodness it had. The redhead looked around and saw that there were a few other cars scattered around and supposed it would be okay to park in the same place. Yay for illegal parking.

Okay, fall out. We’re here.” She announced.

Here? Here where? There’s just a bunch of trees around.” Came Toulouse’s sulky reply. “Is this what you dragged me to see?”

No. Isn’t it great anyways? But the trees are not the surprise.”

Wow. I can’t image what could be more exciting than trees.”

Oh, stop being an old stick in the mud. Come on then.” Felicity grabbed the blankets and hamper of food she had brought along. It wasn’t a terribly cold night, but sometimes it did get a bit cool. Especially if you were sitting still for a long time.

Felicity walked easily up the slanted dirt path with a sulky Toulouse in tow. She was sure that he would enjoy himself once he was settled. He did so hate to be uprooted into strange circumstances.
The path opened up on a small hill that was cleared of trees in a large neat circle. It was a flat, open place, ideal for stargazers old and new…and maybe not just stargazers. Felicity spotted a few couples who had come to sit out under the night sky to kiss and cuddle. It was sickeningly romantic and she snorted having no use for such things.

Well, pick where you want to sit Toulouse. It’s your choice.” Felicity said, gesturing to the countryside. There was a few people dotting the grassy slopes, but not enough so that it would bother Toulouse.

Over this way.” He replied imperiously, leading Felicity up to where the land sloped more. The redhead spotted a man and his daughter further up still and wondered why Toulouse was getting so close.

I want to sit right here and do whatever it is that we’re going to do.” Toulouse said, still giving the two people a healthy space.

Alright. Good spot.” Felicity replied, setting the hamper down and shaking out the blanket.

Kashya looked out where Kurios had pointed. He had pointed out the small speck of glittering lights that were just below the base of the hill. She didn’t deny, perhaps this did actually have a point. Her view however, was interrupted, when a woman making her way up the hill blocked out her lower view. As Kurios continued pointing out random building lights, Kashya listened in on the conversation between the woman and her companion.

“We’re star gazing!” She yelled out suddenly, in an attempt to help out the confused blonde boy. Doing this had successfully cut off Kurios from whatever rant he was going on about, and he looked intently at Kashya for some time, taken aback at her sudden desire to talk to someone she had never met or seen before. She stared back at him just as hard, as if he was the one being silly and not her before returning her interest to the couple sitting not to far away. “I’m being helpful,” she said at last, as if this summed up everything.

“You can’t be sure of that,” Kurios said, shaking his head. “What if it was supposed to be a surprise?” As always, she fell back into being contemplative. Though from her expression, he doubted her thoughts were for anything he said.

Qu'avez-vous dit?” Toulouse called out to the girl who had startled him into a response . He shook his golden head. “I mean, what did you say? I couldn’t hear you.” Maybe it was important. Without thinking, Toulouse scrambled up the hill a little higher from where the girl had called him. “Eh?” He asked when he had reached the man and his little girl.

Toulouse, what are you doing?” Felicity squeaked when she saw that he had left her side and willingly walk up to strangers. “You’re not supposed to bother people. Leave them alone.” The redhead stumbled up in chase of Toulouse.

Kashya certainly hadn’t been expecting to see the little blonde boy to come over to see Kurios and herself, and she blinked in surprise at his quick arrival. “We’re stargazing,” She repeated. “That’s what Kurios says we’re here for,” Kashya ran Kurios eyes over the blonde. She had met two of her kind thus far, both males with white hair. She was beginning to think herself the only female, and that boys only had white hair. Kurios didn’t count because he was an adult.

“No, it’s quite alright,” Kurios said, eyeing Kashya’s reaction.
“So long as she’s not ruining a surprise or anything. Was it… meant to be a surprise?” He asked, concerned he had ruined some sort of birthday or eventful memory.

Is that all?” Toulouse asked the pretty little girl in dismay. “This has to be the most…the most boring thing ever! How utterly dull for me! I thought this was important. I knew you were just being facetious again.” Toulouse pulled a face at Felicity, brushing his blond hair from his eyes. He eyed the blue haired girl intently from behind his hand. A line of invisible marching insects were making their way across his skin as fey magic radiated slightly from the girl. Was she like him he wondered.

I’m glad and no it wasn’t a surprise. I just like taking this kid for a swing.” Felicity replied pointing to Toulouse with his sulky face. She smiled at the man and girl “If this was a real surprise, it would be something that I hoped he’d like. Which you don’t like this do you Toulouse?”

It’s dark.” The boy sniffed moodily, opting not to elaborate further.

"Oh boo you. I'm Felicity by the way." The redhead extended a hand to the man-Kurios? with a smile.

Kashya couldn’t help but cross her brows at his statement. This didn’t have to be boring if he didn’t wanted it to be, his negativeness towards the situation seemed far too soon to her. His insults were directed at someone whom had honestly done this in the hopes he might like it, and why should she be ridiculed with words for trying? Kashya herself, had yet to find the activity so amusing, but the night had barely started, what use was it to call an evening failed if nothing had been started. Regardless of this, the child held her tongue, not wishing to be as quick to lash out as the boy had been and felt her a own distaste for the boy slid past easily.

Darkness was his excuse for the sour mood, catching Kashya off guard. While most people preferred to be in the sunlight, she had not yet met someone who disliked the dark. Kashya, although not as enjoying herself as she could be, was simply glad to be outside because it was dark. Most night, Kurios was too tired to take her out, and she had to stay indoors, so she cherished this as a moment to be outside in the cool. She couldn’t understand why Kurios, why other people enjoyed the day light so much. It was always so much hotter and brighter from what she could tell from the few times she had seen the sun in it’s true light. The dark was in comparison, cooler and the lights much more subdued. It was quieter as well most of the time, and almost always had a breeze blowing through it.
“How can you dislike the dark,” she asked quietly , still trying to think it over as she did with most thing, asking when she didn’t understand. “It’s so much nicer when it is I think. I like it much more,” she finished, looking to him for answers to her curiosity.

Kurios in a very contrary attitude, simply laughed off Toulouse. Boys will be boys and all that. “Kurios, as she mention,” He replied, gesturing at Kashya, who was quietly speaking to the boy Felicity had called Toulouse. He tok her hand in his own, giving it a soft shake. “I brought Kashya up here in the hopes that the weather man had been telling the truth about seeing some shooting stars tonight. But we haven’t seen any just yet,” Kurios

Well, that’s good that one of us likes it.” Toulouse replied in turn to Kashya’s question. “I just don’t like it at all, not one bit. I like to be inside at night. Noontime is the best part of the day I think.” Toulouse didn’t entirely answer why he didn’t like the dark specifically. He just thought of the dark creatures that resided in the shadows of the deepest corners of the night and gave a bit of a shudder. He knew all too well what lay hidden just outside the ring of candlelight. They were unmentionable things better left unsaid. They were creatures who had no place in the light. But, Toulouse wasn’t going to tell Kashya that. She didn’t have to know about such things.

Anyways,” Toulouse said trying to swing the conversation away from its current point. “Are you like me?”

Kashya? That is such a pretty name!” Felicity all but gushed and then thought about the meteor shower. “Yeah, the same weatherman told me that story too.” Felicity said agreeing, thinking how lovely Kashya’s completion looking in the moonlight. “Don’t know if it’s true though. One can never be sure about stuff like this, I guess. I hope it’s true though. It would be so romantically charming I think. I just hope we get to see the falling stars for the children’s sake despite all that.”

Like him…
Kashya thought over it. The context he had used, was vague, very vague to say the least. She didn’t know how to respond to that at all. The last person who she knew had said something like that was at the cake store., perhaps that was what he had meant. “ …like, Julien?” She said slowly, not sure if this was the right thing to say. She did not wish to be thought of as acting foolish.

Kurios found praise in her compliment, and couldn’t help but preen a little. “I thought so,” he said easily, letting a portion of that pride slip into his tone. “It would be nice if we saw a few falling yes, but who knows,” He replied easily. “But it did seem like a nice night for this anyway, It’s hard to get Kashya out of the house. Do you have any problem like that with Toulouse?”

PostPosted: Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:47 am

Ah, oui!” Toulouse replied excited. “I’m glad that you’ve already met Jules. He’s wonderful isn’t he, but yes I mean like him. You know, the whole egg thing and all. I would like to hazard a tentative yes to my question, only because Julien seems to have a knack at such things. Where did you two meet?” Toulouse smiled slightly at the thought of Julien. He was actually quiet fond of the boy and was happy that he seemed to be making companions at the speed of light. He liked that about him.

Toulouse is such a homebody.” Felicity said with a shrug. “I can’t ever get him out of the house day or night. I try to get him out and about however, only cause he has this really annoying tendency to mope about. It’s kind of depressing actually. That’s why I like to take him places.” She smiled sitting down. “You don’t mind if we with sit with you a bit do you? I haven’t met to many other people with kids like ours.”

Kashya was not nearly as advanced in her language as Toulouse, and she found herself far over her head with meanings and words which she still was yet to become familiar with and his words structure also threw her off, though she managed to understand the last of his question at least. “I haven’t met him, formally,” she explained, looking to Kurios to finish.

“Kashya was asleep most of the time, so they didn’t get much chance to converse,” He said, fulfilling his duties. He nodded in reply to Felicity. “Of course not, it’s not like we didn’t bring enough food,” He tugged at the blanket more, pulling it out more so than it had been before. “How did you come by Toulouse?” He asked. It seemed none of them had acquired their egg the same way twice, and usually they were in the most interesting circumstances.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 25, 2008 7:09 pm

Oh, I see.” Toulouse replied nodding his yellow head , not really comprehending at all. Still, he asked, “Do you have insomnia or some such then?”

Thanks, I brought some too! Food I mean. Toulouse be lovely and get the rest of our stuff?” Toulouse merely grumbled as he ambled down to where they had first laid out their things. He gather it all up and brought it back, sitting next to Kashya with a scowl. Felicity was surprised that he hadn’t been more vocal about it. She continued. “Well…I know that Julien came from an egg too, but Toulouse just kind of jumped out and attacked me when I getting the mail. I only found a piece of what I think was his egg, but never the whole thing. He looked absolutely feral the first time I met him. In fact, he still does.” Felicity fixed Toulouse with a Cheshire smile.

At least I don’t look like my head is on fire.” Toulouse shot back without thinking. “I am culture which I’m sure you’d never recognize, so there.”

Insomnia was the words he used, and it probably would describe what Kashya had. But somehow, that word simply didn’t seem to fit to Kashya’s definition of her sleeping patterns. Kurios had said that Julien assumed the same, but she still felt as if that definition of trouble sleeping was different again.
“No,” she replied, clearly still thinking it over. “It’s more like an nature to me. The same way that sunlight tells you to wake, it also tells me to sleep,” Her speech meshed with her thoughts, so that Toulouse would understand as she spoke her thinking aloud. Subconsciously her hand came up to rest under her chin as she thought, a habit in the making. “You don’t seem to like the dark much, so I doubt you have the same dilemma. Yes?” Even if he did she thought, keeping these view to herself now, she couldn’t it would be because of the same reasoning. Kashya stopped as Toulouse was sent off on an errand. She wasn’t sure just what to make of Toulouse yet, and she was mildly caught in an unaware surprise when he sat next to her. It was odd, but didn’t call for her objection.

“and she, is a lady. Which is why I’m curios as to why you’re not using that culture you proclaim you have,” Kurios smirked. He quickly dropped it, looking to Felicity in apology. He shouldn’t be the one scolding other people’s children, it was none of his business after all. Maybe she told him it was okay to express himself like that. Still. He didn’t care much for being an audience to such behaviour, and he really didn’t want it to rub off on Kashya. But he couldn’t bring himself to say sorry either. He returned
“So, he may or may not have come from an egg at all,” He stated, letting the idea hang for a moment.
