I've recently been pondering this. I'm a huge fan on the saiyuki manga which I have all the volumes to except for three. Volume four of the original series and 5 an 7 of reloaded. Because I love the series to much to pass up a volume when I find it so I kinda bought some out of order. sweatdrop yeah I know I suck. Well anyone who reads the manga to the most recent volume (reload cool will probably agree. It seemed like in the begining of the story all the demons(youkai) had just gone crazy and decide to kill and this was illustrated by the anime to but as the story goes on it seems more and more complex. They are capable or organized assault and they follow a leader. And if anyone has read saiyuki reloaded 8 they even have they're own towns which are very civilized. It just seems to me that the youkai are rioting against the humans not insane or magically murderous. I don't know whats really going on it seems like the minus wave isn't really an important factor at all. Is it just me or does anyone else read into it this much. sweatdrop either way I love the series so I'll stay tuned

I'm not so sure it seems like your saying the youkai are evil but look at kougaji and yaone it just seems if that were true they would be all psycho and stuff too

but power limiters disguise appearance as well which their ears and youkai markings no longer present which for the most part other than some episodes they aren't wearing limiters while hakkai and goku always ear their power limiters at all times unless in time of crisis

Well I have only read Vol 8 in Japanese but from what I see maybe some of the yokai are fed up with how some humans treat them. Also maybe because of the minuse waves some yokai that are not affected are scared of what might happen to them so they joined the town in vol 8. I hope this makes sence. This is just a thought though. ^_^

I believe that all people, whether human or youkai, have the ability to be good or bad or somewhere in between. Youkai are naturally more powerful than humans and more connected with the earth. If something goes screwy with the balance of things (like the minus wave) , they are more likely to go insane.

Youkai children seem to be an exception of the minus wave. It is my theory that since they were innocent and had no reason to go insane, they did not. Youkai adults/adolescents, however, had already dealt with a lifetime of average suffering, plus the discrimination of being a youkai. And they were discriminated against. Perhaps not by all humans, perhaps not blatantly, but they were discriminated against.

I believe that the minus wave simply tore down the walls that separated the people's inhibitions, because in my view, the youkai weren't the only ones to go insane. Sure, they did it in a bigger way (see paragraph 1 ) but the humans were willing to torture youkai children and start wars instead of trying to work things out, or find a better solution. They were willing to use the youkai as a scapegoat for everything that went wrong in their lives instead of accepting that something went wrong. It became like the witch hunts of Europe and America. They didn't mind the Sanzo party until they found out that Hakkai and Goku were wearing limiters, even though they were perfectly nice.

Please excuse the wall of text. Youkai are a subject near and dear to my heart.

I'm nearly sure that it said that the minus wave didn't affect children and some adult youkai.
